DISCOVER…Lake Yeagarup & Yeagarup Beach Yeagarup Lake is the ‘Gateway’ to the vast mobile sand dunes which stretch along this coastline. The journey across the dunes is challenging yet rewarding, with fantastic coastline awaiting you.

D’Entrecasteaux National Park

Must see The pristine Yeagarup dunes form one of the largest dune systems in the world. The drive across the top of the dunes is amazing. The shady peaceful campsites situated at Lake Yeagarup are a great base to explore the dunes and coastal area.

What you need to know The track onto Yeagarup dunes and to Yeagarup beach is soft sand, you will need to reduce tyre pressure. The track has poles that mark the route across the dunes and you must stay within these markers on your way to the beach, this will ensure that you stay safe and that the dunes are not impacted upon for future visitors.

Getting there 20km from Pemberton. Travel along the Vasse Hwy and turn off onto Ritter Road within the Warren National Park.

Ritter Road will take you straight to the Lake. From the lake, let your tyres down and take the track over the dunes to the beach.

Travel Time?

It takes approximately 35 mins to get to Yeagarup Lake from Pemberton town and then approx 40 mins to get onto the beach.

What to do?

Traverse the challenging sand dunes in your 4WD to the beach for fishing (Salmon in April) and beachcombing.

Set up camp at the lake and enjoy a BBQ or picnic, walking, and photography. Camping is available at the Leaning Marri Campground.

Nearby things to see and do Yeagarup dunes You can traverse the dunes with your 4WD or take a 3.5km walk from the lake to explore the beauty of the dunes and be rewarded with some magnificent views.

Yeagarup beach Located on the other side of the dunes. A great place to go fishing and beachcombing or have a picnic.

Tips… Four wheel driving Let your tyres down— to suit conditions. Reduced tyre pressure increases grip on sand therefore making driving easier. It will also reduce cutting up the track. Carry a portable tyre pump/air compressor.

Engage four wheel drive— before you reach soft sand and don’t attempt river crossings alone.

Select right gear— most people get into trouble changing gears in soft sand. Experiment a little until you find the right gear.

Keep to the tracks— Don’t create new ones. Driving on vegetation destroys it.

Drive slowly—along narrow one-way tracks and sound your horn before blind corners and crests to warn others you are coming.

Caring for… Yeagarup Be wise… this area is home to many species. Respect this unique environment and leave it as you found it.

Get licensed… only licensed vehicles and bikes are allowed on roads, tracks and approved beaches in national parks.

Tread softly… Help us to protect this environment by keeping to the tracks.

Be Clean… Bins are not provided. Take your rubbish with you and dispose of it correctly.

Be Careful… Stay to the track and between markers over the dunes. Check tidal conditions before driving onto the beach.
