DISCOVER… Heartbreak Trail Warren National Park

The Heartbreak Trail winds through the magnificent virgin karri forest of the Warren River valley offering great camping and walking opportunities and river access.

Must see The rapids of Heartbreak Crossing and the Warren Lookout, high above the river are good stopping places along the trail.

There are great campsites situated along the rivers edge amongst the karri forest.

What you need to know This is a narrow 12km one way gravel road.

This roads is steep and can be slippery so take care and drive slowly – it is not suitable for buses or towing caravans/ trailers.

Where is it?

The Heartbreak Trail is 11km from Pemberton and part of the Karri Forest Explorer Drive. Travel south from Pemberton along the Pemberton Northcliffe road, then follow Old Vasse Road until you reach The Heartbreak Trail.

20 minutes by car from Pemberton.

Viewing platforms, jetties, canoe launch, walk trail, fire lookout, campsites, park FM radio, camp kitchen and universal access toilets.

Nearby things to see and do Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree You can climb to the top of this tree for fantastic views.

There is also a great picnic spot at the tree.

Marianne North tree Marianne North spent a lot of time touring the south west where she was inspired to create many paintings including one of this very distinctive tree.

Selected as one of WA’s Top Trails, this is a magnificent 10.5 km walk through beautiful karri forest and along the Warren River.

Karri Forest Explorer Wind through some of the south-west’s most magnificent karri forest with this 86km drive.

Camping at Drafty’s Camp Drafty’s Campsite consists of shady campsites spread along the Warren River and amongst the karri trees. There are two loops which offer camping sites.

Loop one— 16 sites and camp kitchen. Loop two— 5 sites.

There is a day use area in between the two loops which allows for river access and BBQ facilities.

Please respect other campers and keep the camp kitchen clean and tidy.

Camping at Warren camp Warren Campsite is situated towards the end of the Heartbreak Trail and offers 6 shady riverside campsites.

There is a communal BBQ area which offers access to the river as well.

Camping fees are compulsory at the above campsites Refer to the ‘Fees and charges — A visitors guide’ brochure.

These fees contribute to the provision and maintenance of recreation facilities and visitor services within the park.
