Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Program

This program is for teens ready to take on a leadership role and care for children in a camp setting. With staff guidance and encouragement, CITs will work with campers, lead games and crafts, and assist on field trips. Besides helping campers in your community, being a CIT is a great experience for young resumes. With two sessions of pre-camp training and two-week session options throughout the summer, your teen is sure to find a leadership opportunity that fits their schedule.

Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Leadership Training

Leadership Training is required to participate as a CIT and incurs an additional cost. Participation in leadership training is required prior to the CIT’s first day at the program. We are offering two sessions of pre-camp training for our busy CITs. In the same way we require our Camp Counselors, Supervisors, and Coordinators to go through training every summer, we also expect our CITs to go through leadership training every summer (even if they have already attended leadership training in a past summer). Teens should register for the first session of Leadership Training in May to select from any of the camps hosted throughout the summer. Those participating in the June Leadership training are eligible for camps beginning July 8.

Schedule

Once a CIT has completed the Leadership Training, they are able to participate in as many Summer CIT sessions as they want. Sessions are two weeks long and run through our entire camp season. Once trained, a CIT will follow their camp’s schedule which may vary from camp to camp. The CIT coordinator will visit all CITs during their sessions to observe.
