Duggan U12 Golden Girls! Want to win big? Play like a girl. A Duggan U12 girl to be precise. Edmonton’s major league teams might learn a thing or two from the Duggan U12 Girls who finished the season with a gold medal and not one single loss. The girls powered through four nail-biters to emerge the undisputed champs with a 22game, season long winning streak. “It’s pretty rare for a community team,” says proud head bench mom and Parkallen Community League Executive member Allison Chevrette. “We started last year’s indoor season 0-5. Most of the scores were not close and we were put in the
bottom tier,” says coach Scott Macdonald. “ A year and a half later, we are the top tier provincial champions!! Pretty amazing rise.” Allison is quick to note the importance of the volunteer coaches. “I want to bring special attention to our three amazing coaches: head coach Howie Molstad, assistant coach Scott Macdonald, and assistant coach Jason Duxbury. These three guys have really been the best mentors for our girls. They always coached with such dedication, positivity, determination, and supreme grace! They have dedicated so
much of their time to us, it is really thanks to them that our girls gained so much in their skills. A big thank you to Howie, Scott and Jason for giving our girls the best opportunities to learn, grow and win!” Part of the secret of winning may have actually been the team’s focus on other things. “The entire team is inspiring, the girls worked so hard and never gave up and had the most fun doing it. They always stressed the importance of gaining skills over the win - and boy did it pay off! It has been a pleasure to be a part of
