Warmington news Warmington village meeting Please come along to Warmington’s annual village gathering on 28th April 2022 in Warmington Village Hall at 7pm This year’s Annual Village Meeting is taking the form of a ‘Meet the Village’ showcasing event, with various groups and organisations in attendance, detailing how they can help to enhance life further in the village.

The police are coming, along with their beat bus, and Neighbourhood Watch will be there too giving you ideal opportunities to share specifics of any crime concerns with the police and get some hints and tips on security too. Age UK Northamptonshire and Oundle Volunteer Action will be on hand to talk about wellbeing and support services they offer.

There will be an array of clubs and groups on show too including pilates, keep fit, table tennis, horticultural society, Warmington Cinema, singing for pleasure, knit & natter, Warmington Hedgehog Hospital and volunteering opportunities.

Our North Northamptonshire Council ward members have been invited too and parish council members will be on hand. We always welcome parish council feedback - there will be a chance to try out our online reporting tool. There will be representatives from the Warmington Almshouse Trust, Royal British Legion, Tuesday Tiffin and others.

Refreshments will be served and there’ll be time for questions and chat.

Platinum Jubilee You are warmly invited to join the various village celebrations over the long holiday weekend as part of the national celebrations to commemorate the Queen’s platinum jubilee. See back page for details.

Keeping in touch with the parish council In accordance with the requirement for all local authority and government websites to be compliant with website accessibility guidelines, the Warmington community website is currently being completely rewritten and refreshed. The new website will launch this spring as www.warmington-pc.gov.uk

Projects—Consultation feedback In the last newsletter we shared some ideas for possible future village projects and invited all residents to express their preferences. Thank you to everyone who responded, the results were: 1.

The Parish Council explored the feasibility of the projects and is pleased to report that we have worked with local fitness enthusiasts to determine the ideal location (on the Rec) for the Pavilion and Gym. We explored the type of equipment most likely to be popular to the widest range of people and are currently gathering quotes from various companies with the aim to have the items ready for use as soon as possible. The pump track has been put on hold as the landowner does not support the plan and without the landlord’s permission the parish council is unable to pursue this project. The most supported initiative, the heritage trail, has been a background project for some time with a lot of background work already undertaken. The seed for this project grew from the ‘red kite trail’ that formed part of the consultation process for the Warmington Neighbourhood Plan. If you have an area of interest or speciality in any aspect of the natural or built heritage of Warmington, we would love to hear from you.

The next step in this project is to encourage volunteer community groups to come together to provide detail for the information signage boards. We look forward to sharing more detail with you at the village meeting on April 28th and in future newsletters.

Parish councillor vacancy There is a vacancy on the parish council for one additional councillor. We would love to hear from anyone who would like to join the council in our efforts to make living in Warmington the best it can be for everyone. Improving community wellbeing and serving the people of the parish is at the heart of everything we try to achieve and we would welcome someone to the team to support this ambition. We work within a digital environment, so ease with electronic communications would be a great advantage.

Full training is available to all councillors - the most important things are an open mind and a desire to keep Warmington a great place to be. Have a chat with a current councillor or email clerk@warmington.org for more information

Neighbourhood Watch There is an active parish-wide neighbourhood watch scheme—to join, go to ourwatch.org.uk and put in your postcode. As well as receiving up to date information about scams and fraud, you will be advised of any local issues and have access to the ourwatch website which is a mine of crime prevention information.

If you are interested in becoming a co-ordinator for your street or cluster of homes, please get in touch— use watch@warmington.org . It will not be an onerous role, just keeping a look out for people who are less digitally engaged or perhaps a little more vulnerable, feeding back any information to NW teams and passing on important information to people who wouldn’t otherwise receive it by email.

General News Warmington Garage: Some people may not be aware that over the course of the past couple of years, planning applications have been going on to rejuvenate the area off the old Peterborough Road on the A605. Two separate planning applications have been approved which provide for all of the existing buildings to be demolished on both the fuel station site and the area where the Little Chef used to be. A new fuel forecourt and shop will be constructed, with provision for HGV fuelling as well as electric charging points. There will be a drive-thru restaurant (believed to be Starbucks) and parking on the old restaurant site. The road will be subject to a traffic regulation order and double yellow lines installed along the entire length. We understand that during construction, the site will be completely closed.

Bus stops: The bus stops on the A605 have been replaced, as has the one on Orchard Close. The parish council remains committed to putting as much pressure on North Northamptonshire Council as possible to have a bus service serving the rural area in our part of Northamptonshire.

Speed reduction: The parish council has successfully applied for grant funding from the Northants Police and Safety Commissioner for a speed indicator device (SID) which will be installed at the soonest opportunity. It will move to various locations and used to reiterate the fact that the speed limit as you enter the village is 30mph. The data will be used to highlight any speeding violation patterns to the police.

Rural policing priorities: Community policing priorities are dictated by the public - the force consults and then prioritises according to public demand. To make our neighbourhood policing team aware of what you feel they should be focussing on, visit tinyurl.com/priorID .

Warmington Matters Our simple reporting tool is designed to help you report all sorts of issues around the parish.

Please use it for reporting matters to the parish council for the things we manage and also incidents like flytipping, crimes or suspicious activity (to the police), potholes (to North Northamptonshire Council (NNC) highways via fixmystreet) or other highways issues. You can even use it to report problems with your bin collection or to contact NNC. (Please do not use the facebook pages to report problems as these are not always picked up or tracked.)

You can either type warmpc.com/FixMe into your browser or you can use your mobile phone to read the QR code, which will automatically take you to the reporting page.

So, if you see an issue on a walk, at the recreation ground or park, or anywhere else in the parish, you can report it at the time. There’s also a way of sending photos to support your concern. We hope that people will use this facility to report any Warmington matters, because - Warmington matters!

There will be plenty of community activities over the long weekend as part of the national celebrations to commemorate the Queen’s platinum jubilee On the evening of Thursday 2nd there is a gala event in the church with musical performances, solos, readings and refreshments followed in the churchyard by Warmington’s participation, in the national beacon lighting event.

On Saturday 4th, there is a grand ‘Party in the Park’ event on the recreation ground. Starting at 3pm there will be lots of fun, with traditional games, side stalls, music and fancy dress. To keep the energy levels up there will be a bar and BBQ but you are more than welcome to bring your own picnic and refreshments. In the evening, a live band will have everyone up and dancing. There’ll be a marquee with plenty of seating and the evening will be rounded off by a firework finale at 10.30.

Sunday 5th is the national Big Lunch event– Depending on demand, there will be street parties in the marquee and/or the village hall that all are welcome to attend, although many neighbours are getting together for individual street parties.

Please let us know whether your street is planning a party or whether you would like to join the “Village Street Party” - Bring your own food and drink All events are free to attend, but to help with planning, we’d be grateful if you’d let us know how many people will be attending from your household. There will be a commemorative memento for the children so please also indicate how many children will be attending.
