Import aspects to consider if you are thinking of having lower lid blepharoplasty People develop bags under their eyes for a variety of reasons, ranging from an underlying medical problem to insufficient sleep or an unhealthy diet. Some people's condition is only transient and clears on its own, while others require surgical treatment for long-term outcomes. Lower lid blepharoplasty, for example, is a very popular surgical procedure that is considered a highly effective treatment for, among others, bags under the eyes. Lower lid blepharoplasty is commonly performed as an outpatient treatment under local anaesthesia, with very few risks and only minor discomfort following the procedure. Blepharoplasty is usually divided into two categories namely functional and cosmetic blepharoplasty. In the first scenario, surgery on the lower eyelid is performed to remove extra fat or skin for a softer and smoother appearance. Excess upper eyelid tissue can cause the eyelids to sag (known as Ptosis) which may also obstruct a person’s peripheral vision. Apart from causing vision problems, this also produces a fatigued appearance, and many people choose upper eyelid blepharoplasty (which is categorised as cosmetic surgery) to improve the overall appearance of their eyes by firming the area around them. One of the reasons cosmetic blepharoplasty is so popular is that it can help you enhance your appearance by giving you a younger, more energetic look, but functional upper eyelid blepharoplasty, on the other hand, can also help you improve your vision, especially when driving or reading. Upper and lower lid blepharoplasty are commonly performed as outpatient procedures that take one to one and a half hours on average. Lower lid incisions are performed immediately below the lash line, while incisions on the upper lid are placed in the natural crease of the eyelid. Lower lid blepharoplasty, also sometimes referred to as transconjunctival blepharoplasty in medical terms, is a treatment that removes extra fat from the lower limb through a small incision that is sealed with fine stitches after completion. Laser is often used by surgeons during these treatments to prevent excessive bleeding and bruising of the eye tissue, which is more delicate than other parts of body, as well as to speed up the healing process. Laser surgery is ideal for individuals who are taking aspirin or blood-thinning medication.
