Wonders of Historical Architecture in Iran:
Khaju Bridge, Isfahan
Built by the great-grandson of Shah Abbas I, the Khaju Bridge is both a bridge and a dam. It is meant to link the Khaju quarter on the north bank of the Zayanderud, with the Zoroastrian quarter across it. Its 23 decorated arches once served as a tea house and public meeting place. Little water now runs under the bridge, which has been damaged by recent “restorations“. The bridge is 133 meters long and 12 meters long with 23 arches to support it. The entire bridge is made of solid stones and bricks. It is worth mentioning that the structure has 26 small and 21 larger inlets and outlets.
