Shajuana McMillan Austin, is the Founder and Owner of Paradise VIP Travel, LLC.

The idea to provide travel opportunities for everyone started over 20 years ago while helping to plan yearly family vacations. Shajuana’s belief is with researching, organizing and planning, everyone can travel and experience the world! I have always had an entrepreneurial mind-set; however, I was unsure of how to make my travel dreams a reality therefore my goal became to travel upon retirement. As a single parent she did not have the opportunity to travel as much as she desired. She has always had an entrepreneurial mind-set, however was unsure of how to make travel dreams a reality therefore the goal became to travel upon retirement. Her dad became ill in 2009 and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He died at the early age of 62. Shajuana’s dad had always talked about traveling the world when he retired, but he never got that opportunity. Surprisely, Shajuana had the opportunity to travel internationally for the first time in May 2018. As a matter of fact, she attended the Procession for the Royal Wedding on May 19, 2018. She did not plan it, it just happened. Shajuana even had airline tickets before the engagement was announced. This was one vacation to remember! When Shajuana returned home, this idea suddenly dawned on her. If she could get to experience something magical from a wedding celebration that’s held abroad, imagine what couples would experience if they are the ones getting married. That’s when Shajuana McMillan Austin decided to start Paradise VIP Travel, LLC formerly McMillan Elite Travel, LLC as a means of helping future couples fulfill their dream wedding without having to go through all the hassles of planning for them. Paradise VIP Travel, LLC was created due to a passion for travel and the realization of a truly wonderful and romantic getaway. We believe everyone can have the opportunity to travel – and we’re here to provide that opportunity!

PREPARING FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

Depending on where you’ve decided to go, international travel is a big deal. Believe it or not, your travel days can take a lot out of you. Here are just a few tips on the best ways to prepare for an international trip. Suppose you're not quite ready for international travel, no worries. You can use these tips whenever you're getting ready for your next trip.

SO LET’S DISCUSS!

Sleep Rest is a given. In general, a good night’s sleep is a good thing. But, you should definitely try to get an ample amount of sleep the night before your flight. If you think this or sleeping on the plane might be an issue, bring some melatonin for your flight. You want to feel rested when you get to your destination, not grumpy and sluggish because of the lack of sleep.

Dress in your Comfy Clothes You will be sitting in a tight spot for hours at a time! You won’t want to wear something tight or have a zipper/button poking into you. Be as comfy as possible. But don’t worry, it's very possible to keep it comfy and cute at the same time. Pair your comfy loungewear with some great accessories, a lovely colorful top, a 5-minute face, and prepare to travel comfortably in style.

Pack Light Pack only the things that you need. I get it. Sometimes you aren’t sure what to pack due to planned activities or weather conditions, but the last thing you want is to haul an extra-large suitcase that is bulky and heavy. Not fun. Pack only what you need to make things easier. A great rule of thumb, if you’re not sure, leave it home.

Get TSA Pre-Check/Global Entry If you haven’t heard about TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry, you are in for a special treat. Think of Global Entry as a Disney FastPass for the airport. This perk will help you cut the line at security and customs. No more waiting in long lines. You’ll have extra time to walk around the terminals for your last stretch, potty break, or Starbucks fix before your flight.

PREPARING FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

Put Eyes on Your Passport Days or even weeks before you’re scheduled to leave, locate your passport. Make sure you know exactly where it is. Don’t assume and wait until the last minute to pull it out. One of the worst feelings is discovering your passport is not where you thought it was hours before your trip.

Arrive at the Airport Early Most airports suggest that you be at the airport two hours before you depart, but nowadays, you may want to get there even earlier for international travel. If you have any Covid-19 related documentation to present, (i.e. tests, attestation statements, health waivers, etc.), you will not be able to use a self-service kiosk, and you’ll be in for long lines and wait times.

Stay Hydrated Bring a refillable water bottle with you that is empty BEFORE you go through airport security. You can find a fill-up station or water fountain to fill it up for FREE. You must stay hydrated because the air cabins are extremely dry, and you want to avoid getting a dehydration headache.

Devices, Devices, Devices When it comes to devices, be sure to bring headphones to cancel out the noise for a more enjoyable flight experience, a laptop/tablet to watch some movies that you download from your favorite streaming account, and an extra charger so you’ll have plenty of juice.

Travel Apps There’s an app for everything that you can think of, such as maps, translation help, staying in touch with your airline, and much more. Try adding your airline's app for flight updates and in-flight entertainment, the mobile Passport app for expedited customs options, and Viator to coordinate activities and tours while you're on vacation.

Airport Lounges Have a long layover? Consider purchasing time in an airport lounge. Listen, those Delta, United, and American airline lounges are not exclusive to cardholders. If they have space, simply pay to enter and get your relax on!

When you’re ready to take your next international trip, contact me to help you plan, and remember these tips when it’s time to go.

TEN REASONS TO VISIT DUBAI If you’re tuned into the world of travel or have scrolled through social media lately, chances are you’ve probably seen loads of people either traveling to Dubai or planning to travel to Dubai. So, why is Dubai such a popular vacation destination? This city has more to offer than meets the eye and boasts something for every member of your travel group!

1. DELICIOUS FOOD Dubai is truly a melting pot of cultures which makes it any food lovers’ dream. From Thai to Turkish to Japanese to the country’s own Emirati cuisine, there is always an option for any craving you may have. While Dubai does offer a range of foreign cuisine, don’t miss out on trying some of the amazing Emirati dishes the city has to offer. A few must-try foods include samboosa, Arabic coffee, chebab, and luqaimat.

2. SECURITY OF SAFETY In 2020, Dubai was ranked one of the safest cities in the world for travelers. The crime rate (especially directed at tourists) is extremely low, and the city is heavily monitored. As with traveling to any international destination, just be smart about your decisions and always be mindful about following local laws and regulations.

3. HIGH-END SHOPPING Dubai is truly a melting pot of cultures which makes it any food lovers’ dream.

4. BOOMING ART SCENE Dubai has never been known for its art scene, but it has been steadily growing throughout the past few years. Because Dubai is known for being extravagant, you can be sure that the art lives up to the same hype. The stunning exhibitions and galleries are truly a must-see for any art lover or simple admirer alike.

5. TURQUOISE BEACHES The city and the beach? What more can a traveler ask for?! Dubai is known for its gorgeous turquoise beaches spanning over 600 miles of sandy shores. There is a mix of private and public beaches for you to visit! If you do decide to relax on the gorgeous beaches of Dubai, just remember to be respectful of the country’s customs. Only wear a bathing suit when you’re on the beach or by the pool and do not take any photos or videos on public beaches.

TEN REASONS TO VISIT DUBAI 6. EASY TRANSPORTATION Being one of the most technologically advanced cities in the world, Dubai makes it really easy to get around. The best way to get to your destination is by taxi or Uber as the prices are relatively low and it’s usually the quickest route. Dubai also has an amazing metro system that services almost 50 stations including the airport. You can also travel by boat if you’re looking to cross the Dubai Creek. It’s super cheap and the views are unbeatable. While you can rent a car in Dubai, it’s not usually recommended for tourists as navigating the city can be difficult for first-timers.

7. BREATHTAKING SKYLINE AND ARCHITECTURE You’ve most likely seen pictures of Dubai’s incredible skyline, but nothing compares to seeing it firsthand. The architecture of Dubai is truly one-of-a-kind with tall buildings and unique silhouettes. Make sure to view the skyline at night for a truly breathtaking view.

8. ONE-OF-A-KIND DESERT EXPEDITIONS There are three total deserts in the UAE–Al Badayer, Rub’ al Khali, and Liwa Oasis. Liwa Oasis and Al Badayer are the closest deserts to Dubai being about a 3 ½ hour drive and half an hour drive respectively. If you’re looking to go desert driving or quad biking, look no further than Al Badayer with its famous dunes. You can also camp under the stars and wake up to the gorgeous sunrise over the sandy desert. Liwa Oasis is a bit of a farther trek but is totally worth it to get an authentic taste of living in the UAE. Liwa Oasis is home to crucial farms and pastures and aside from being beautiful, it really immerses you in the world of desert living.

9. THE TALLEST BUILDING IN THE WORLD The Burj Khalifa is Dubai’s most popular sightseeing attraction boasting over 150 floors and standing at over half a mile tall. You can go inside the tallest building in the world and head up to the 148th floor to see stunning views of the city. This is something you won’t want to miss when in Dubai.

10. INCREDIBLE NIGHTLIFE Dubai has a vibrant nightlife scene suited for all party lovers. There are gorgeous and luxurious nightclubs and bars that range from a more chill vibe to all-out partying. Make sure to pack your dancing shoes when heading to Dubai!

DUBAI IS A NEVER-ENDING CITY OF CULTURE, BEAUTY, AND FUN WHICH MAKES IT THE PERFECT TRAVEL DESTINATION FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO EXPLORE AN EXCITING DESTINATION. ONCE YOU VISIT DUBAI, YOU’LL WANT TO GO BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN!

5

REASONS

SOUTH AFRICA

SHOULD BE ON YOUR BUCKET LIST

South Africa is Africa's 9th largest country according to its landmass. The reasons to visit this vast and culturally diverse nation are seemingly endless, and that's why it makes it on so many people's bucket lists. To encourage you a little more and to further enhance your excitement, here are five reasons you should make it to South Africa at least once in your life…

1. Cape Town As one of South Africa's three capitals, the Mother City is one that you must explore. Not only is it one of the top holiday destinations in the entire world, but it's full of natural, exotic beauty that you can't find anywhere else. There's excellent food, plenty of beaches, and, last but not least, Table Mountain.

2. The Garden Route For some of the most breathtaking coastline views, take the Garden Route from Mossel Bay to Storms River. Visit and view small towns, rugged shores, sandy beaches, and thick forests.

3. Go on a safari at Kruger National Park It may not be the only place to go for a safari adventure in South Africa, but it is undoubtedly one of the greatest. On the safari, you'll get to witness and interact with the ‘Big Five’ of Africa’s most significant wild animals: lions, rhinos, elephants, buffalos, and leopards.

4. Family Safaris If you have decided to bring the children along on your once-in-a-lifetime, memorable South Africa vacation, make sure to go on several family-friendly safaris. Many of the safari tours will offer youth programs, age-appropriate, hands-on activities, and playgrounds.

5. It’s easy to navigate and explore nearby destinations South Africa makes it easy to get around with its well-established and maintained road network and infrastructure. You are also allowed to drive there with a foreign license as long as it includes your photograph. There are also several main international airports so that you can fly into any of the nation's major cities.

Of course, the list of reasons to visit South Africa doesn't end here. It would be too hard to name them all. Nonetheless, there are endless reasons one should make it a point to visit the country. So, if you just added or have had South Africa on your life itinerary, let's get started planning your vacation! Feel free to send an email with your inquiries and information, and I will get back to you soon.

1. Want those postcard Instagram travel shots? Wake up early to avoid crowds. It’s a magical time for photos due to soft diffused light, and it’s usually easier to interact with locals getting ready for their day. 2.Take a scarf or sarong with you while traveling. This simple piece of cotton cloth can be used for different practical applications - sun protection, a makeshift towel, carrying stuff around, an eye mask, a wrap for conservative countries, and much more. 3. While packing, make sure to gather together everything you plan to pack, organize it by category, and item by item ask yourself - Does it serve a purpose or function that I need? And keep eliminating the unnecessary baggage. 4. Reduce your stress about losing small items like cables and chargers by using a Dopp Kit – an electronics travel organizer. It is a perfect way to organize your electronics and devices including travel adapters, cables, chargers and other accessories. 5. In the days prior to the flight, slowly adjust your sleep schedule to match that of the time zone you are planning to visit. This way you can operate according to your new time zone and avoid jet lag. 6. Get to know local customs before you go. Read up a little on the traditions and customs of a place before you visit so that you understand them better and don’t risk acting in an insensitive manner. 7.The one mistake you should never make when on a trip is to be constantly using your phone. Try to avoid using social media, put your cell phone away, talk to people around you, and enjoy each little moment to the fullest! 8. If the place you are visiting offers free walking tours, make sure you go for these. These walking tours generally tend to be guided and can tell you a lot about the history and culture of the place. 9. It’s great to have a bit of cash on hand to start the trip. However, pre-pay as much as possible when planning, so once you get there it’s a breeze and you don’t have to worry about money! 10. Emergencies can happen and you don’t want to be caught without an alternate way to access your funds. Always have some cash with you and a back-up credit or debit card preferably stored separately or at multiple places.

WHETHER YOU ARE TRAVELLING ALONE OR IN A GROUP, WE HAVE PUT TOGETHER THE BEST TIPS TO HELP YOU ON YOUR NEXT VACATION!

How to Survive a Long Flight So, you’re ready to start tackling your travel bucket list. Maybe you’ve been dreaming of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, The Pyramids of Egypt, The Deserts of Dubai, or even Mount Fuji in Tokyo. These beautiful destinations have one thing in common; you have to take a long flight to get there. Even if you fly out of a major city like New York, you’re looking at spending a long time on a plane.

New York to Paris – 8 hours New York to Egypt – 10 hours

New York to Dubai – 12.5 hours New York to Tokyo - 14 hours

Just the thought of a long flight might make you want to destroy your bucket list. But before you take that eraser to your list, put the pencil down, and check out these tips for surviving long flights.

Just Ask: To begin with, you can always ask for an upgrade from your economy class ticket to business class, economy plus, or even first class. And if no free upgrades are available, consider paying for the upgrade. Upgrading your seat will improve your overall flight experience. You will have more legroom, comfier chairs, and priority boarding options. Those improvements alone will make your long flight more enjoyable.

Pack Snacks: Let’s face it. When you’re sitting for long periods, binging your favorite Netflix show, you need snacks. Just because you’ll be sitting in an airplane seat doesn’t change this. Yes, the flight will include a few rounds of pretzels or biscoff cookies, but that probably won’t be enough.

Stay Loose: Don't forget to wear comfortable clothes while on the flight. Try to avoid wearing clothing that is tight and restrictive. As cute as those clothing options might be, they will do nothing for your comfort on a long flight!

Stay Comfortable: Another essential tip to surviving long-haul flights is to ensure that you carry the things that will keep you comfortable. Consider bringing sleep masks, neck pillows, a blanket, warm socks, and your favorite hoodie or sweater. These items will keep you comfortable, and you can use and remove them as you see fit.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Don't forget to stay hydrated. The plane’s filtration system can lead to itchy eyes, dry throat, and dehydration. During a long flight, dehydration can make you feel sick and dizzy and can even cause you to pass out. Avoid this by simply hydrating throughout your long flight.

How to Survive a Long Flight Bring the Essentials:

Fly at Night:

Make sure you are carrying the things you need to keep yourself entertained. Pack your headphones, especially if you enjoy listening to music. Noise-canceling headphones will also keep plane noise at bay. Since you’ll have your headphones, you can also download your favorite movies, games, and TV shows on your mobile phone/tablet to keep yourself both engaged and entertained until you finally get to your destination. Don’t forget to pack extra chargers and a power bank just to be on the safe side.

Carry Extra Masks:

The best way to survive a long flight is to sleep through it. Book an evening flight. Once the pilot dims the lights and you pull out the eye mask, noise canceling headphones, and blanket you packed, you’ll be on your way to sleeping through most of your trip.

Stay Fresh: After a 10–14-hour flight, you might feel a little icky. Especially if you were able to sleep a lot during the flight. Make sure you have your essential toiletries handy in case you need to freshen up a little bit.

Even on long flights, you are required to wear a face mask. Carry extras in your carry-on so you can change them if yours gets soiled from sweating, sneezing, or drinking.

Just because the flight is long doesn’t mean it has to be a miserable experience. Long flights are a means of getting you to your vacation and creating unforgettable memories. Don’t put off your bucket list because it requires a long flight, just take a few of these tips and your time on the plane will just….

FLY BY!

Getting Married in Paradise PROS AND CONS OF DESTINATION WEDDINGS

Are you getting married soon? First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! As you start the planning process, you may find that deciding on the perfect wedding venue is one of the hardest decisions you'll have to make for your big day. If you're considering a destination wedding, you're not alone. Destination weddings have been growing in popularity for many years now. Nearly 20% of all weddings are now destination weddings. The only thing you have to decide is if it makes sense for you.

What Makes a Wedding a Destination Wedding? Destination weddings are ceremonies that are held away from the couple's hometown and usually require travel for the wedding party and guests. You could decide to get married in a tropical location across the world, or you might opt for a rustic bed and breakfast just a couple of hours from home. When planning a destination wedding, there are both pros and cons to consider. Let's discuss both.

Pros of Destination Weddings A destination wedding can double as a vacation for others and a honeymoon location for you. Destination weddings are a great way to get a headstart on your honeymoon. All you have to do is say goodbye to your wedding guests after the reception and start your honeymoon. Of course, you don't need to stay in the same location where you hosted your wedding; you can select a different hotel or resort for your honeymoon. You can cultivate a more selective guest list. Because of the logistics involved, destination weddings are best for a smaller, more intimate guest list. While this can be a pro or a con, there's something special about celebrating your big day with the most important people in your life! You can avoid some stress. Destination wedding venues have figured out how to provide you with a seamless, stress-free process. Many destinations have packages that professional planners create. The packages usually include all the elements needed for a beautiful ceremony. The bride and groom need only make a few custom selections, and the professionals handle the rest. Epic Views and Photos. Deciding to have a destination wedding allows the happy couple to say "I do" in front of a breathtaking view. It doesn't matter if you choose to host a beachfront celebration or a glamorous, outdoor party at a picturesque chateau. The gorgeous scenery will only make your wedding photos that much more stunning.

What Makes a Wedding a Destination Wedding? Cons of Destination Weddings Legality can be an issue. Destination weddings require more thought about how you can legally tie the knot. Rules and regulations for legal ceremonies differ by destination, with some locations requiring over 12 months' notice and a bunch of paperwork! You can save the stress of navigating international marriage laws if you go ahead and get legally married in your home state before or after your trip and host a beautiful symbolic ceremony in your dream destination. No one will be the wiser. Your honeymoon might become a family affair. As much as you love your family, you may want to enjoy some private time with your new spouse. To get a break from your loved ones, make sure you schedule away time and insist on it. And after saying "I do," make your honeymoon plans clear to your guests in advance to avoid any awkwardness. They'll understand! Guests may not attend. Traveling to another state or country may be a lot to ask, and some guests may not be able to attend due to conflicts with work, family, health, or other reasons. To avoid conflicts, make sure you run your ideas by your inner circle before deciding your dates and destination! Make sure those who are most important to you can attend. Navigating COVID-19 restrictions. No matter how hard we try, it seems we can't completely shake Covid-19. We now know surges are possible and unpredictable. As your date gets closer, make sure you and your invitees become familiar with any rules related to COVID-19. It's also crucial to look into vaccination, testing, and quarantine requirements as your travel dates get closer. You'll also want to be clear about cancellation and rescheduling policies, just in case.

When deciding on your wedding venue, the biggest thing to remember is that this is your big day. Ultimately this is about how you and your love dream of starting this new chapter in your lives. Once you've decided on that, everything else will fall into place. And if you need any help planning a destination wedding, contact me, and we'll get started planning.
