Writing the Activity Guide message always feels a bit like time travel.
As I sit down to write this, I’m sitting above the thick valley fog (oh yeah, remember that?) in cool, clear sunshine.
As you’re reading this, chances are the days are getting warmer, the sun is staying out longer, and you’re starting to think about getting outside, and if you’ve been outside, you’re thinking about dropping some layers or shifting sports.
We’re glad you and I are on the same page, because our PRPD team has plenty of ways to help you enjoy the season ahead. Spring and summer are the perfect time to reconnect with our parks and open spaces. Spend a peaceful morning at Paradise Lake, volunteer time to care for our trails, or simply get outside and explore.
We are also hopeful to complete in time for pool season the new aquatic recreation center at the Paradise Pool, and we just got the keys and our team planning events and classes at the Paradise Community Center. If all goes well, we should begin accepting rentals in summer 2026. Behind the scenes, a long season of planning will transform new facilities, with work starting this summer at Lakeridge, Bille Park, and a new play structure at Moore Road. Please check in with us as progress continues and plans come more into focus.

Looking back at 2025, it’s important to recognize what an incredible experience our District, partners, and community have shared through the Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N) program, made possible by funding from the State of California Office of the Governor. Working with over 30 partners, we helped incubate an amazing variety of programs for our community, and delivered more than 450 events with well over 10,000 participants.
The outcome has been simple and powerful: neighbors connecting, doing fun things together, and building a friendlier, better-prepared community that knows how to welcome new residents.
While these efforts are deeply rewarding, they also challenge our team in new ways and I want to sincerely thank them for delivering every step of the way. Over the coming months, we’ll be figuring out how to keep this momentum going, and we’d love your input. Please let us know what you enjoyed and what you’d like to see in the future.
I’ll have a lot more progress to report in our next Activity Guide, so until then, enjoy the season we look forward to seeing you out there.
- Dan Efseaff, District Manager
