A cerca de la fotografía
Como profesionales de la imagen, investigadores y personas responsables de nuestro paso por el mundo, nos manifestamos en contra de la manipulación de imágenes sin autorización ni conocimiento de los autores, tanto con fines lícitos como ilícitos. Creemos que es necesario explicar el rol de la fotografía en contraposición al recurso de crear imágenes artificialmente, que elimina la interacción entre las personas (sin importar la edad), no aplica la creatividad basada en emociones ni experiencia, es decir, va por una vía de comunicación que difiere en mucho de la que nosotros elegimos como recurso y objetivo de trabajo.
En cada fotografía están implícitas, entre otras cosas, la intención, la idea, la influencia del contexto de la persona que la tomó. El acto fotográfico no se limita solamente al momento de la toma sino que comprende el periodo en que la estamos viendo. Es, entonces, un acto que trasciende su propio tiempo para aparecer y revitalizarse frente a otros ojos: se hacen fotos para ser mostradas. Para ofrecer a otros, para vernos reflejados en la mirada del otro.
Nuestro trabajo a través de la fotografía tiene por objeto desarrollar el punto de vista individual de cada persona que es parte del programa (niños en su mayoría), como aporte argumental e investigativo que enfrenta e interpela la tendencia actual de una sociedad de pensamiento uniforme y dirigido, con el cual no acordamos.
Creemos que defender la diversidad es parte esencial de entendernos, de situarnos en el mundo en el que vivimos y, por consiguiente, conservarlo.
Las actividades que forman parte de nuestro programa educativo son culturales porque el ser humano es capaz de producir cultura paso a paso y a través de ella, crear, modificar y aprender a convivir con el medio.
Hacer fotos, ponerlas a disposición, mirarlas y comentarlas, es parte de un trabajo holístico que no nos podemos permitir abandonar en este presente que estamos construyendo, a conciencia. Prohibir la visualización de las imágenes surgentes de los talleres es reducir el trabajo orientándolo, justamente, hacia un objetivo monotemático al que no aspiramos. Segrega a parte de los participantes, porque no pueden ser fotografiados y segrega las actividades que planificamos cuidadosa y específicamente.
No permitir la publicación de las imágenes de algunos niños o adolescentes, precisamente, los separa del grupo y de la actividad, porque es preciso poder ver y mostrar las imágenes para continuar el círculo infinito del trabajo.
Es por eso que pedimos autorizaciones a los padres o tutores de los menores implicados y a los adultos de las comunidades con las que trabajamos. Trabajo que hacemos con mucha dedicación y conciencia, con el objetivo de aportar a la construcción conjunta de una sociedad mejor, más inclusiva, diversa, amplia y respetuosa de la vida.

Exhibition of photographs in the community hall for the Vicuña and Andean Cat Festival organized by the community.
As image professionals, researchers and people responsible for our passage through the world, we declare ourselves against the manipulation of images without authorization or knowledge of the authors, both for licit and illicit purposes. We believe it is necessary to explain the role of photography in contrast to the resource of creating images artificially, which eliminates interaction between people (regardless of age), does not apply creativity based on emotions or experience, that is, it goes for a way of communication that differs greatly from the one we choose as a resource and work objective.
Implicit in every photograph are, among other things, the intention, the idea, the influence of the context of the person who took it. The photographic act is not only limited to the moment of the shooting, but also to the moment in time we are looking at it. It is an act that transcends its own time to appear and revitalize itself in front of other eyes: photos are taken to be shown. To offer to others, to see ourselves reflected in the gaze of the other.
Our work through photography aims to develop the individual point of view of each person who is part of the program (mostly children), as an argumentative and investigative contribution that confronts and challenges the current trend of a society of uniform and directed thought, with which we do not agree.
We believe that defending diversity is an essential part of understanding ourselves, of situating ourselves in the world in which we live in and, thus, preserving it.
The activities that form part of our educational pro-
gram are cultural because human beings are capable of producing culture step by step and through it, creating, modifying and learning to coexist with the environment.
Taking photos, making them available, looking at them and commenting on them is part of a holistic work that we cannot allow ourselves to abandon in this present that we are consciously building. To prohibit the visualization of the images that emerge from the workshops is to reduce the work, orienting it precisely towards a monothematic objective to which we do not aspire. It segregates part of the participants, because they cannot be photographed, and it segregates the activities that we carefully and specifically plan.
Not allowing the publication of the images of some children or adolescents, precisely, separates them from the group and the activity because it is necessary to be able to see and show the images in order to continue the infinite circle of the work.
This is why we ask for permission from the parents or guardians of the minors involved and from the adults in the communities we work with. We work with great dedication and awareness, with the aim of contributing to the joint construction of a better society, one that is more inclusive, diverse, broad and respectful of life.
