WOODBRIDGE VILLAGE CENTER Irvine, CA The Porch: Woodbridge Village Center The renovation of Woodbridge Village Center builds upon the strength of the community. The new design opens to the lake, extending the village plaza to capture magnificent views. The center is enlivened with a rich seasonal programs through a variety of unique spaces that allow friends and family to gather together. The new center expresses the spirit of Woodbridge through an informal landscape at the heart of the community. Building upon the existing structure and plaza space of Woodbridge Village Center, the existing program and businesses are invigorated by a dynamic landscape and outdoor community gathering space that serves a local market hall, theatre, restaurants, and boutiques. The plaza serves to improve connections through the site, enhancing the relationship between the lake and the plaza and strengthening the center’s ties to regional recreational corridors. A series of shaded gathering spaces, dining areas, informal seating, and children’s play area is anchored by the Central Green, where a variety of seasonal activities can be programmed. The plaza is framed by Woodbridge’s Front Porch, a continuous covered walkway and seating area connecting the buildings and offering a viewing stage to the lake.
