In 1869 Jarves died, leaving a vacancy for someone to take over the company. This was done by Nicholas Lutz, who was originally trained at the Saint Louis factory in France. Lutz was a well-traveled man, who had worked at sev eral different factories in Europe, including one at Murano.”
