Antique Baccarat close packed millefiori mushroom paperweight, the mushroom head comprised of a bundle of honeycomb, fortress, floret, and shamrock-shaped canes, in pale blue, green, red, pink, white and salmon colors, surround­ ed by a blue and white latticinio torsade. Star cut on base. Diameter 3 1/8". $1800-2500

62. Antique Baccarat snake paperweight, set in a high, clear glass dome, a pale green snake, mottled dark green along its back and head, coiled over tumbled latticinio. See Classic French Paperweights, p. 23. Diameter 2 7/8". $5000-7000

66. • Unusual antique Baccarat millefiori garland paper­ weight, four heart-shaped loops, comprised of complex star­ dust and pastry mold canes in dark blue and white, join at cen­ ter around a group of composite canes that form a geometric star shape in blue, white and red, while eight larger, single, complex canes seem to stud the heart garlands. Diameter 3". $500-700

63. Antique Baccarat rock paperweight. Also called “sand dune,” or “mountains of the moon” paperweights, these curiosities are made up of unmelted bits of sand, mica and green glass. W ith this design of pebbled glass in earth tones, the two upright shapes make convincing anthills. See The Art o f the Paperweight, p. 63. Diameter 3 1/8". $200-300 64. • Antique Baccarat circular garlands millefiori paper­ weight, with seven circles of complex millefiori, the outer ring of circles alternating pink and red, around a central red ring of canes, surrounding a grassy green complex cane, with a red bull’s-eye cane at its heart, in clear glass. Antique Baccarat dated 1848 blue carpet ground scat­ tered millefiori paperweight, including Gridel silhouettes of a rooster, dog, goat, pheasant, and excellent examples of the swan picture cane, and the butterfly, in a field of blue and white cog canes. A vivid paperweight with very fine canes displaying the agile skills of Baccarat and their exquisite design sense. Bits of colored twists and latticinio can be seen under the carpet ground from below the paperweight. Signed and dated B1848. Pontil mark. Diameter 2 13/16". $12,000-15,000
