GA ZE ENDLESS MILES TIRED FEET HEART BEATING

Growing up in the Peterborough area, I felt I would need to move away to ‘make it’ as an artist. The type of art I wanted to make didn’t seem like ‘real art’ and I tried for a long time to fit the box of what I thought an artist was.

I devised this project to publish work exclusively made by local women and other marginalised genders. To say: it’s OK to make illustration, typography, graphics, prints, crafts. In fact it’s amazing. Make the work that you want to make, for the reasons you want to make it. That’s a radical act of feminism in itself.

A common phrase my mother used “Where do you think you’re going?” takes on new meaning when drawn from the perspective of post-natal recovery. In this new context it starts to speak of a lack of direction in life, a sense of limbo, an inability to leave the house and the guilt and shame that prevent speaking about it or asking for help.
