Karen Hofmeister, Founder and the Chief Creative Meister of Hofmeister Creative, a design and animation studio, and Laney Hall, Designer at Platypus Papers, an award-winning stationery and decor company, created "Lucky Lady" made with CTI Paper USA's Kromekote paper.
We asked Karen and Laney to share their experience on designing for the Paper Fashion Show.
What was your inspiration for "Lucky Lady"?
"Lucky Lady was inspired by the military planes of World War II and their iconic artwork. The pilots displayed their creativity and individuality by painting the noses of their airplanes. The art evoked memories of home and peacetime life, and as a kind of psychological protection against the stresses of war."
What was the most challenging part of creating your fashion?
"Time management is always a challenge. We were very focused and driven when working, but there are so many little pieces that it just takes a lot of time. We had some fun dreaming up ways to create things like paper rivets for Lucky Lady, as well as the fitted shirt of paper, which was no easy task."
Did you have any snafus with your fashion?
"Lucky Lady had a "cargo net" of paper that liked to catch everything, so we were constantly repairing that. And a paper shirt doesn't breathe, so the perspiration of our model started melting the underarms of the shirt."

What would you say to a designer that is on the fence about entering a fashion?
"It is an amazing learning experience, the folks who organize the event are wonderful, and you will talk about it for years to come! Go for it!"
