The thought of money being the source of happiness is quite interesting. It is a fact that we need money to survive in this expensive economy, and without it we might tend to struggle. Money gives us the opportunity to buy clothes, food, shelter, and many other necessities of life. But does money truly bring happiness? Some may argue that money can make you happy and others will argue that it doesn't. Why do some believe that money is the source of happiness? I asked this question to a fellow colleague and she responded with a personal experience that she faces at home. Clearly, having money has not resulted in true happiness for her. One main reason that money is not the source of happiness is man's inborn flaw of greed. As humans, we always want more. We may say, "if only I made $100,000.00 a year", and when we achieve that goal, we are no longer satisfied and our desire goes up. There is never enough. The world also defines our success buy what we have materially and financially. Many spend much of their time in life trying to "keep up with the Jones", so to speak. And by doing so, they often find themselves stressed out and unhappy because they are trying to impress people they don't like, with money they don't have, on things they really don't need. Others believe that if they had more money, they could spend more time with their family or do things they really want to do. Studies show, however, that those who take on more responsibility or work to earn more money, actually have less time for family, relaxation and recreation. I don`t agree with you that happiness will never be bought. Can you imagine if you are a homeless man and you live in poverty, will you be happy? It is truly undeniable that in this science and technology millennium, we can hardly live without money. Even buying something small such as sweet will cost you some money. Although he was "richer than a king," he was not happy. He is isolated because the townspeople look at him, they wished they were just like him, and thought that he was perfect. If he had any close friends, people would have known that he was not perfect. He must have felt like statue on a pedestal. It may have become too difficult to maintain appearances and the weight of being held to that standard and that might be what caused him to commit suicide. The poor people are admittedly unhappy, but Richard Cory cannot show his unhappiness. It is like the expectations of the townspeople are stifling for Richard Cory.

Since the early years of America, the rich have been considered the most powerful. Poor people were not considered very significant simply because they were unlike the rich. While wealth was desirable it wasn't always worth having because money cannot buy happiness. F. What is the necessity of money in life? Does it truly bring us happiness? How much do I want or need the comforts of material objects in my life? There is a famous song from Chris Janson that does a pretty good job of summing it up. Chris says "Money can 't buy happiness, but it can buy me a boat." I would agree with this! I like to believe that I am a family man. Families are an essence of life. I feel the root of all happiness begins within the wall of your own home. Even if I would have asked she would have said no. This is just one of many examples of how money has had a negative effect on my life.

I watched my mother work two jobs to support three children. She sacrificed for us and I love her for that. She was in neutral for most of her life, struggling to make the bills and rent. This friction rubbed off on us and her friends in a negative way. I can't help to think how life would have been for my family had we been rich. It seems that a lot of tension would have been alleviated.

I hated high school! I was too busy participating in illicit activities to worry about school. These activities also cost money, so I started to work. But then it dawned on me that I wanted money, and the way to make real money is to graduate high school, then go to college. I was not about to work at Chuck–E–Cheese's for the rest of my life. All I needed was the taste of real money, and I was a changed man. Real money to me back then was the check for $137. I wanted more and more, so I worked harder to get a raise to earn more money. I am still in the same boat to this day! When the drug is gone, I am depressed, when it is there I am happy. Money has caused friction between myself, friends, girlfriends, siblings, and parents.
