Highschool Student Strengths
I am a highschool student, hopefully on my way to success. I put in effort, try and do all my work, and respect others. On the contrary, what I find most difficult is participating and tests. To improve I will try to push myself to talk and i'll try various study methods to see which helps me with the tests. To begin with, like all students i have strengths–or something I do well. What I do find that I'm good at is completing the homework and putting in effort in class. I put effort so that I may understand what we learn therefore when I go home and do my homework, I'll know what I'm doing. Also, I respect others, as well as myself. For instance, I don't do anything to make others feel uncomfortable and I don't get into their personal space....show more content...
I have a problem with attendance. I tend to not go to school because I get sick or I help my mom with chores/activities/tasks she needs to complete. I also don't pay attention and am not effectual when it comes to participating. I don't pay attention since I daydream or just zone out and I don't participate much since I tend to think what I write is wrong. Also, tests– although half the time I'm proficient when it comes to them– it's always a fluke type of thing when I pass. I need to improve on a few things in order to feel fully confident in my academics. I'll improve on attendance by attempting to help with my mom's tasks after school or before school and taking care of my health so I won't get sick. I'll improve on the tests by studying on the subject for hours until I feel reassured. Furthermore, I'll pay more attention by getting a lot of sleep or aiming all my focus on the task at hand. I'll improve in participating my thinking about my grade to motivate myself. In conclusion, doing well now is going to serve me well in the future. Doing well now means id I get accustomed to it, I won't mind doing doing the hard, challenging work later. Going strong now will show in my academic performance so when I'm applying for a job atcollege, it won't be difficult to get in or the employers will be impressed by what I've

The University of Pennsylvania is a world–class institution that will provide me with unparalleled top–notch educational experiences. Every aspect of Penn has impressed and convinced me that it's my dream school. The campus is beautiful and it's only a fifteen minutes drive away from my house. To me, the urban yet historical city of Philadelphia is still a mystery box that's waiting to be explored. The diversity and intense curriculum match the setting in which I wish to engrossed myself for the next four years. As of right now, I'm fascinated by a variety of majors including economics, mathematical economics, and psychology. I haven't decided which one I want to pursue but I know that the advisors at the College of Arts and Sciences will guide me to make the best decision. Unlike manyschool, The College's liberal arts foundation offers a variety of flexible academic disciplines bestowing upon me a chance to explore my miscellaneous interests. I could imagine myself being a part of the organization and enjoying lunch with faculty members and fellow enthusiasts while discussing contemporary issues in the field. I'm looking forward to reading the club's unique Perspectives in Psychology. I hope I will have the honor of having my own article published there one day. I've been completely intrigued by the study of psychology for years. I took the advanced class once during my sophomore year and I decided to take it again as an AP class during my senior year. I found the topics to be exceptionally captivating and I would like to continue that passion even as a minor or

In 1996, a group of parents who wanted the best education for their children founded the school. The first school that was set up here in Cebu is the PAREF Southcrest, sister school of Springdale, way back in 1993. Their mission was to provide a balanced, demanding, academic, and personal formation to the students so that the students can live according to the Christian ideal. The founders of PAREF were inspired by the teachings of St. Josemaria Escriva– founder of Opus Dei. Josemaria Escriva taught us that all men are a combination of human excellence and supernatural greatness. In Springdale, the ultimate goal is that the students live according to the Christian ideal. Saint Josemaria Escriva also provided the philosophy of: parents first, teacher's second, and students last. In every school, there is a battle cry. The battle cry of Springdale is "Bene Omnia Facere" or "Do all things well." Every student here in Springdale is raised to become a gentleman, so in every task that they do, they should do their best or give it their all. Springdale is a

I am very interested in attending Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life sciences and pursuing a major in Biology and Society. Pursuing this major allows me to incorporate a passion of mine, Biology, in the context of the sociocultural forces it is sure to be applied in. This is not only intellectually stimulating but also relevant to my upbringing. I am a Modern Orthodox Jew and have grown up in a community governed by strict cultural laws. While the preservation of life under Jewish law is regarded as the top priority, the application of necessary health care must be reconciled with values (for example modesty) that a strictly secular physician would not naturally consider. Attending a dual curriculum high–school has further deepened my understanding of the sensitivities and needs of my specific community. For the past four years, I have devoted half of my school day to of traditional general studies, and the other half, to discussing and reviewing the philosophy, ethics, and reasoning behind secular and Jewish Law. This, combined with the urge to get to the bottom of things, wether that be the basic chemical interactions and ...show more content...
As a lifeguard at Camp Stone, a summer camp for Jewish children, I have been put in positions that demand quick and affirmative medical treatment, all the while remaining sensitive to the religious values my camper's parents have entrusted me to uphold. I starkly remember stabilizing the neck of an 11 year old girl's who fell on her head while attempting to dismount from her councilor's shoulders. While my actions matched perfectly the instructions of my Red Cross Certified training, I can recall saying a quick prayer in my head for her. Additionally, after a team of EMTs arrived and took over her care, I, somewhat shellshocked, joined the rest of the camp for a moment of prayer, admittedly needing some

My High School Journey
At the beginning of my high school journey, it was scary. Just the thought of a new school, meeting new people, and the fact that this would be my last years before becoming an "adult" and getting closer to college, was unbelievable, yet scary. My high school journey had many ups and down. These ups and downs vary because I experienced them in my academics and socially. I can't forget that I learned a lot and met many different personalities, with people whom I trust and had many great times. Also as growing up throughouthigh school, I'm slowly seeing who I am. I know this is not the end of life, just a great piece of my life will end and everything will soon change again. I can give so many advices to just start off great at the beginning of anyone's high school journey. I think it's important to join clubs, activities,or sports so you can meet new people. It's important to surround yourself with people who will take their education seriously because at the end of high school, you will see how far you got by being surrounded with positive people and that's a benefit because you concentrate and achieve excellent grades and that leads to good colleges. Also, joining more clubs and participating looks great with your cap and gown at the graduation! Another advice is do NOT procrastinate, I have done it so many times and it sucks to sleep late and wake up early and by doing so, you avoid stress which is a pain in the butt. Do your homework, get good grades, and ask

We all regret some of the choices we've had in the beginning of our high school journey. Since we can't go back and change them, we can always give advice to the incoming freshman who may need our advice. Coming from middle school can be a hard transition because there are so many new things to learn. New students will face a new campus, teachers, friends, and overall a new way of life. I believe that freshman students who struggle to adapt into high school can lead to poor grades, peer pressure, and losing focus of long term goals. Here are some suggestions to help incoming freshman have a successful high school experience. Being a freshman can be scary. I remember when I first started high school and I didn't know where to begin. I had...show more content...
We are used to the friends that we've made in elementary and middle school, but finding other friends whowant what's best for the long term might even be better. Some students give into peer pressure to seem cool or to build popularity. Incoming freshman shouldn't have to worry about what anyone thinks is "cool". Students need to learn to be their own person and have friends who support their goals. Joining clubs that spark an interest can be a really effective way to meet new people with shared interests. When students join clubs, they make friends who might have the same ideas of what career path they want to take part in. Through high school, I've joined groups that have given me a real sense of friendship that is supportive. I know first hand that when you meet other students that share the same interests as you, you connect right away. Joining clubs can provide a sense of independence because students are in charge of what they do and what needs to be done. Going to games, rallies, and dances can bring students together. Students are all aiming towards the same target, to have fun and show spirit for their school. Also, joining a study group or getting a partner for every class can really make school life easier. There can be less pressure to understand a concept fully when students have partners to study

At my fifth birthday party my mother had a Mad Scientist come to entertain the kids at my party. The mad scientist performed many fun experiments with dry ice, and my interest in science was born that day. As a five year old, I begged my mother to enroll me in a summer science class, since science fascinated me. Even though I was actually the only female in that summer class of 25 students it did not deter me from enrolling in science classes every summer since then.
Throughout my childhood, my interest in science also intertwined with my interest in the arts. In middle school, I volunteered at the after school art program daily, helping other kids with art assignments. At my eighth grade graduation, I received both the art awards my middle school offered, for dedication to after school art programs. My Future Plans For High School
In a few months, I will make a huge decision that will help determine my future.
I have many plans for high school; such as what classes I will take and what clubs I will join. But first I Have to take the entrance exams
I have been studying for the high school entrance exams since the beginning of summer. My mom bought me three big texts books that will help with the High School Placement Test, Independent School Entrance Exam, and Secondary School Admission Test. Recently I have started going to a tutor that specializes in preparing students for the exams.
I am applying for schools. My first one is Charter School of Wilmington. It is my first choice because it is two minutes from my house, so I would ride my bike. Also, it specializes in science which is my favorite subject, they are attached to an art school, which I also like to do, they have a good tennis team, and it is free. Archmere is my second choice. I like it there because it has a large campus that has buildings that are spread out like a college. Tower Hill is my third choice because it is next to my neighborhood. Also Tower Hill doesn't specialize in a specific subject it is an all–around school with art, music, math, science, and many more subjects. Friends is my fourth choice. I don't know much about Friends but i've heard it's a good school and will prepare for college. Padua is my backup school in case I don't get accepted into any other school. I am interested in Padu because I have only heard Get more content
My whole life I have been invested in doing what I love, focusing on my true passions, as well as finding new ones. I have been very involved in my high school, and have been lucky enough to be a part of multiple clubs and activities. Without these activities, my high school experience and life would be a lot different. I have been an active drama club member, a part of 'Bottlecappers,' a club advocating anti–drug, alcohol, and bullying to younger students in my district, and many other community service opportunities. I am lucky to have the opportunity to be in these activities, as they have shaped me to be the young adult I am today.
Before I even entered high school, I obtained a love of theater and the performing arts. I have been singing and acting since I was nine, as well as on and off dancing since three. Taking classes at a local theater really introduced me to this interest of mine. When I entered highschool, an injury kept me from doing shows. But now I graduate with nine high school shows under my belt, as well as being in multiple community theater productions. Being a part of these shows made me feel a strong sense of belonging, and whether I was an ensemble or lead...show more content...
As I had mentioned earlier, I am part of an anti–drugs and alcohol club. I am extended the opportunity to speak to young students about the risks they could encounter. The feeling that those students may look up to us is very meaningful, and I feel it is a unique experience. I am lucky to have the chance to save a student's life through this club. Another community activity I enjoy doing is related to performing, but at senior citizen homes. Some of my friends and I often just like to get together with some music and go sing for them. This is a rewarding experience, as seeing the senior citizens smile, and making their day better, is truly a heartwarming experience every time I have the chance to perform for

Now how can you learn if you're not interested? This is when the teacher should consider providing fun and games, praise, and love within the classrooms, making the classroom exciting and more interesting.
Before entering the classrooms, teachers should sit and study each individual student and learn their likes and dislikes. They should know what particular student need help in what particular subject. Some students need more help in other subjects than other students. This is when teachers should consider making their lesson plans focusing on subject matters that are current and relevant to high school students, implementing cooperative learning strategies with their lesson plans while students show off their talents. If students are demonstrating what they have learned in a skit, they tend to learn more positively. When providing fun and game within the classrooms, the students are excited about attending class

Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, the rays of sun flittered through my miniblinds blinding me as if I hadn't seen light in days. I sluggishly dragged my limp body out of ...show more content...
Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling

Through out my high school career I never took my education seriously. For most of the four years it was a big blur. I'm not quite sure if it was because of me or if I found myself blaming my surroundings or teachers for my lack of focus and strive to learn. A failure can mean different things to everyone else. Maybe there's just different types or categories of failures. These failures are meant to teach us something, or motivate us to simply not make these mistakes again.
I remember going into my freshman year of high school nervous but excited because I thought I'd learn so many new things. Next thing you know I found myself dreading school. Was I being lazy? Was it my lack of motivation? I still can't grasp why exactly I lost that excitement or that yearning to go to school. I was raised to have the idea that school was a place to learn not socialize. But at the age of 14, what teenagers don't want to socialize and that's what got a hold of me. I spent too much time worrying about other things that didn't involve my education. Once I became a junior in high school I had been too far in the process of skipping school, not paying attention, and putting all my focus on other things. I'm not saying I didn't learn things while or whenever I did go to because I learned a lot of things but not enough. I didn't reach my full potential. I think this was the year I made friends who weren't as great of influence. So, at this point my lack of focus on my education was because of Get more content

My interests peaked when my grandmother would take me to visit her work. She was a CNA at a nursing home. I had always excelled in the sciences so I took all the required courses, but I also took AP Biology and Anatomy and Physiology. As such, I needed to take one psychology course which I had to take online due to my many pre–med requirements. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the course although it was online. The course was very interactive as the professor from Waubonsee had online presentations of the chapter summaries. Don't know if it was because she was so passionate about her field or if I just enjoyed her quicks and personality, but I decided to take psychology as I potential second major. I figured psychology would be beneficial in a field working with people. Entering high school is the beginning of a whole new learning experience. Transitioning from middle school, high school presents more classes, students, and a bigger campus. It brings new expectations and responsibilities to each of us. High school also offers fresh chances to make new friends, try new sports and activities, and really explore who we are as individuals. The goal is to maintain good grades, score high on the SAT test, and keep a positive attitude so colleges and universities will accept you. Of course it's not as easy at sounds, but it's achievable. Studies have also found that dropping out is more likely to occur among students from single–parent families and students with an older sibling who has already dropped out than among counterparts without these characteristics. Other aspects of a student's home life such as level of parental involvement and support, parent's educational expectations, parent's attitudes about school, and stability of the family environment can also influence a youth's decision to stay in school. For example, results from the NCES study found that students whose parents were not actively involved in the student's school, whose parents infrequently talked to them about school–related matters, or whose parents held low expectations for their child's future educational achievement were more likely to drop out. Another reason why a lot of students drop out of school is simply because they don't like it. High school, through its control over many decisions that are made for students, still seems to be restrictive. Many aspects of a student's life are pre–set and cannot be changed by the student to fit his needs. For example, a student's time schedule is set every year. Every student must go the same amount of hours every year. In most cases, school is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day, whether he or she actually needs all the time or not. Students have to spend more time in some filler classes that they think they probably did not need to take but still had

When people start high school they're usually so excited. They can't wait to experience everything that comes with being in high school, I mean who wouldn't? Everyone says that high school is the best four years of your life. Now that I'm months away from graduating, I can't say they were my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn't say that they weren't fun because they were. When I say educational, I mean I've learned so much about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life meant. All these events changed me, and I'm glad they happened because I wouldn't have learned all these lessons. My personality hasn't changed; I'm still a carefree girl,...show more content...
My freshmen and sophomore year, I had my first real boyfriend. I was completely and totally in love with this guy, he changed me in ways that I'm proud of and ways that I'm not proud of. I revolved my world around him, which wasn't a good idea. After almost two years of dating, we broke up and it literally shattered my world. During our relationship I became friends with his friends and I even considered one of them my best friends, so when we broke up I didn't only loose him, I lost all of them as well. It felt so awful to all of a sudden have everything, and then just lose everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person could betray someone like that, especially after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened after all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain. They gave me hope and a new life for me that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and choosing who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last event is the one that taught me the most about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana,
