The quote "those who not remember the past are condemned to repeat it" by philosopher George Santayana. This quote is really true because, when you don't remember what you did wrong in the past you continue doing it in the present. When you do it you have more several consequences.
For example, when I was in 5th grade I think that if I didn't do the homework was okay because, in new laredo the teacher didn"t say nothing about it. In 6th grade I try to do the same but, the teachers that I had were really bad when you don't do their homework. Sometimes, now I want to keep doing the same thing like if I were in elementary school. I think I have not learn the lesson still but, someday I will want to go back and do the things the right way.

President Kennedy and President Lincoln are both very well–known because of their assassinations and the coincidences that follow the story. Although, some people people believe it really isn't that big of deal while others fear that it could potentially happen again in the future. The lives of both Kennedy and Lincoln share many of the same aspects, which leads some people to the question, does history really repeat itself? In Hardin County, Kentucky on 12 February, 1809,Abraham Lincoln entered the world. As a young boy Lincoln was slightly less fortunate than most families at this time and he spent most of his childhood helping his father around the farm. Ever since Abraham was a small boy he had a love for knowledge and he wanted so bad

History Are Bound To Repeat It Essay
History has always been a subject that has fascinated me – the quote "Those who do not know history are bound to repeat it" seems inevitably true. I have always been curious about understanding the stories of those who came before me because those stories spill into my story, which eventually will spill into another's story and the cycle will repeat itself until the end of time.
There comes a problem, however, when I do not know the story that will give birth to mine. It will not know where it is going, it will remain at a standstill and years of blankness will fill the gaps and no new stories will be made, no new paths will be paved. I will find myself in a sort of quicksand of forged histories and the harder I try to remove myself from it,...show more content...
Only then, can we fuel the burning African Spirit, only then can we rise from the ashes and chase the destiny that we fought for many years ago. When a person has been subject to a traumatic event, they are often diagnosed with a disorder known as Post–Traumatic Stress Disorder –symptoms often include flashbacks, nightmares and if left untreated, drug abuse, violent tendencies and in the worst of cases, suicide. To heal this, one must go through therapy. This ensures the full recovery of the person, allows them to come to terms with their past and hopefully allows them to lead as normal a life as possible.
But what then happens when the traumatic event has affected a multitude of people? What then do we do when the centuries of violent historical oppression and inferiority are left untreated? The disorder then mutates from grief and suffering into bitter hatred, civil wars, identity crises social instability – complete and utter chaos. The disorder festers in a generation that has wounds that are left uncleaned, wounds that remain unidentified. The disorder ceases to be known as a disorder but instead as the failure of a Get

Does history repeat itself? Most people would think that the McCarthy hearings of the 1950's are a repeat of the Salem witch trials. Accusations were false as well as fictional, in fact the only reason people were accused at all were for the personal gain of the accuser. Both instances of these accusations (the McCarthy hearings and the witch trials) only accused people others to make themselves look better, or to gain respect. They both wanted to gain respect because it was not something they had much of, especially the girls of salem. In 1692, people accused of being witches were used as scapegoats for society's issues; once more in 1950, people instead were accused of being communist, but were used as scapegoats for society's issues. Looking back, both cases were pointless and caused nothing positive with the exception of people looking back on other's mistakes. Many people were killed in the town of Salem in, and if they were not killed, they had their reputations ruined forever. Anyone charged by Joseph McCarthy had their reputations as well as their careers demolished. None of this would have ever happened if the people involved in these hearings and trials had broke out...show more content...
The Salem witch trials and McCarthy hearings were very similar events that took place in very different periods of time. They both involve numerous innocent victims who were accused of being something they were not. Both incidents were also very horrendous and shocking that they took place in the time periods they did. Many people's lives were ruined because of some foolish girls and one selfish man. Their primary goal was to look good in front of others who did not truly have respect for them; only wanting said respect at the cost of other people's lives. Both trials were deceitful, misleading, and overall unreasonable to those affected by them. Let us hope that history will not repeat itself again anytime

Now and days every person must take at least two years of history in order to pass high school. Many people, including myself, ask the question,"Why must we take history?" Well the answer many of us get is, " So that history does not repeat itself." The real question of the matter is, Does history repeat itself? History has repeated itself over and over again. An example of this would be the genocide that occurred in the Ottoman empire in 1915, nearly 88 years later another genocide has occurred in Darfur in 2003. These two events are both similar and different in ways, but none–the–less are proof that history does in deed repeat itself.

However, the Christians could not have been any wronger. The Young Turks ambitions were to Turkify the empire, and the Christians did not fit into this plan. They also declared war on all Christian nations, excluding their allies. The Armenians helped out the Russians in a battle against the Turks. This was the last straw. The Ottomans were going to do something about the Christians once and for all. On April 24 1915 the Armenian genocide begins. Armenian intellectuals were executed. Innocent Armenians were thrown out of their houses and sent to march their death in the desert. The marchers were stripped naked and were not given any food or water. They marched in the blazing sun and were shot if seen resting.
There was a new "Special Organization" made up of murderers and ex convicts. This organization was a killing squad; killing the Armenians. They killed in many ways from drowning people in the river to burying them alive. The killings were brutal and harsh. Innocent men, women, and children were thrown off of cliffs, crucified, and burned alive. The killings were long and agonizing. Armenians everywhere were suffering and

AMH 2020 – Professor Kallina Paper 0
It is said that history repeats itself and I do believe in this statement. History won't repeat itself exactly as it is; the times and the people aren't the same, but the motives and situations can be very similar. Moments such as Napoleon and Hitler's invasion ofRussia are situations that display how history can repeat itself. Napoleon in 1812, tried to invade Russia. But because he did not prepare for a much longer fight and especially in Russia's cruel winter he had to retreat. Hitler would then try to invade Russia in 1941, and because of the same thing, not being well prepared and the harsh freezing weather, he too had to bring his army back. They both had different

AMH 2020: Can History Repeat Itself?
As humans our brains hold unimaginable amounts of information, yet sometimes we forget things of importance. The forgotten information can be about anything, birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions, and so much more, but what I believe is most important is our history. Not just American or European history, but all world history. This means from the very beginnings of Mesopotamia to the Black Death in Europe to the rise of communism in China to the recent presidential race of 2016 in America. The history of humanity from the very beginning to the end is often forgotten that should be remembered. As Karl Marx once said "History repeats itself, first a tragedy, second a farce." History tends to repeat itself if it's neglected, yet...show more content...
These glories could be the great pyramids of Giza, the aqueducts of Greece, the library of Alexandria, the gothic cathedrals of Europe, the Eiffel Tower, and so many others. The glories are endless and magnificent so why wouldn't we want a repeat of such glorious glories? Yes these so called glories are magnificent why not have something from this modern day and age to remember forever as it withstands the test of time. With all our advancements we should have structures, art, and literature that lasts twice as long as the pyramids ever do. Problem is humans today forgot what made these things magnificent to stand the test of time. Since we've forgotten what made these marvelous things work we have created nothing remarkable, spectacular, astounding that can withstand no more than twenty years without replacement. If we recall these glorious things and how they were made humans should be able to make buildings last a lifetime with no repairs. Remembering what was great about our history can lead to bettering mankind for years beyond the norm now. Therefore without knowledge of our past we are doomed to repeat, so the tragedy of the final solution during world war 2 may one day peer its ugly face again. Other tragedies are destined to rise again if history is neglected. But when history is remembered the tragedies of our past will never resurface leaving only a memory of what happens when humans have an egotistical view that goes a little too

Why Do We Need To Be Remembered Essay
There is a saying that goes "History repeats itself" and it has many times. For example when the "German Democratic Republic" decided to build the Berlin Wall to keep "West Berlin from surrounding East Germany" (The Berlin 1). It was constructed to "keep out emigrants" and the "flood of refugees" (The Berlin 1). The wall failed though in November of 1989 (Why did 1). The wall Trump wants to build is just repeating history. His plan is to build a wall along the Mexican–American border to keep out illegal immigrants and drug trafficking. Even though Trump's idea of the border wall will keep out unwanted invaders, like any country would want, it will also create diplomatic and economic conflict and environmental issues amongnMexico and the...show more content...
With this in mind, if the United States does build the wall along the Mexican–American border there are high risks for Mexico or America to leave NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement).
Trump has stated in his campaign trail that he wants to "renegotiate" NAFTA. NAFTA was endorsed in the 1990's and the countries of North America have traded with this agreement ever since (Greenberg 1). Despite this agreement keeping the peace among these three countries, Trump says, in a debate, "NAFTA is the worst trade deal maybe ever signed anywhere, but certainly ever signed in this country" (Greenberg 1). He plans to revise the agreement a bit with Canada but with Mexico he, in a way, wants a new agreement stating that Mexico will pay for the wall. Trump is pushing and finding different ways to get Mexico to pay and that will just cause more problems among the countries. The President of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto, has stated multiple times that Mexico won't pay for wall and has even canceled a meeting that was supposed to bring these two presidents to talk about relations among the nations. With Nieto canceling this important meeting already shows there's conflict among the two leaders. Despite the two not agreeing on this controversial issue, Trump has began preparations for the wall to go up. The wall, according to Time Magazine, "The senate majority leader,

When Does History Repeat Itself
By Mark Twain
The quote means that although history doesn't repeat itself, present and past events together constitute recurring themes. When Mark Twain says that history rhymes, one possible implication is that certain events in history can sound familiar. Mark Twain's metaphor invites us to understand history as if it were poetry and song. It begs us not to see different events across time as repetitions. For example, there are similarities between Britain, Russia and America's invasions of Afghanistan. All three installed puppet governments in order to retain control, but each did so in its own unique way. Mark Twain's quote seems to elaborate on the more common phrases "History repeats itself," or "Those who do not know history are doomed to

The knowledge about our past has helped us in many ways. The question why history matters has been asked many times. It has been asked by students, teachers and parents sometimes. Both economic depressions of 2010 and 1930s hold some similarities. They both were triggered by "massive debt bubbles". Although we haven't yet experienced same repercussions and economists are arguing ardently that both economic depressions don't hold any similarities. We do have to occasionally remind ourselves that there is a huge possibility of history repeating itself again. A similar example of past repeating itself would side with two of the famous leaders of history Napoleon and Hitler. There are few leaders in history that could make huge impact on our world. Napoleon and Hitler combined have been responsible for holocaust, mass murders and many more actions. Despite of some huge differences, they both invaded Russia. Napoleon's invasion of Russia is known as the patriotic war of 1812. Napoleon entered Russia with huge army but as the battle continued, the size of his army decreased. Napoleon's downfall was due to the harsh winter. In 1941, Hitler decided to invade Russia. The war ended in defeat for the Nazi Germany with the fall of wall of Berlin. Their military tactics may be different but they both tried to do the inevitable and failed. The last example would be on the similarities between Vietnam andIraq war. There are not many similarities between the two wars. Vietnam in the beginning was country with a strong national identity made by hatred against foreign rule while Get more content

Response to "History and Knowing Who We Are"
"History never seems like history when you are living through it." This quote by John W. Gardner accurately depicts the inability of most young people to understand the importance of history. Every decision that is made creates an outcome. Once that outcome occurs, it becomes history. To many, history is seen as simply cluster of sequential events of thepast. Rather, it is a record of the emotional and physical hardships generations have gone through to bring us to the present and also affect our future. In order for history to be taught well, it must be understood that the people of the past were more similar to us than we know,...show more content...
Without history, we would not be able to see the progressive flow of literature, art, medicine, and science. Without history, we would not be able to interpret it. From thousands of years of recorded history, we have been able to see humankind develop in its knowledge and spreading of ideas. During the settlement of the English in the colonies, outbreaks of malaria, smallpox, and other diseases killed off an enormous portion of the Indian population and even some of the English. In the present day, fighting off smallpox seems like an incredibly small feat compared to just a few hundred years ago. Without the spread of the Renaissance bridging the Middle and Modern Ages through Latin roots and vernacular, the English language may not have developed to what it is now, being taught all over the world as universal

Does history tend to repeat itself? Indeed it does, in fact it creates connections among new events, that remind us of past times, its histories way of teaching us or reminding us not to make the same mistake. 9/11: Does History Repeat Itself?
History Is Repeating Itself
By James Baldwin
History is Repeating Itself Introduction
Over the past few years, there have been multiple cases involving what some claim to be police brutality. The past couple of years have had incidents reminiscent of the sixties. Racial tensions have risen and numerous ongoing riots have broken out. There has been fires and lootings and such due to these riots. The question is, is America going back in time? In December of 2014, a monthly magazine called "The Progressive" republished an article written by James Baldwin addressed to his nephew. This article had been written in 1962 during the civil rights movement. The words, the message, James Baldwin conveys in it apply just as much to America today as it did then. Concluding that America is repeating itself, especially when regarding the relationship between the police and people of color. The 1900s In the 1900s, the civil rights movement was in full swing, and police brutality and riots were common occurrences. By going back in time, one can see the comparisons between racial tensions then and now to see that America is repeating history. There is a continuous cycle of police brutality, african americans protesting and rioting, which then leads to more police brutality. The Detroit RaceRiot of 1967 is an excellent example of this. This riot was "an immediate response to police brutality" (Wang 1). A curfew was placed on Detroit after ongoing violence that day, and "seven minutes into the curfew a 16–year–old African American

Why was this a huge deal the us just created it own problem when 9/11 happened we went into afghanistan wan who was there to stop them the same people who they just trained a few years back they had new moral kill anything that is in their way they were using tactics that the us has never seen by using ieds and shooting at soldiers than hiding in the shadows and watching what their next move was. Why did russia invade was it justified? Moscow fears the rise of Islamic extremism among Russia's substantial Muslim population, in addition to separatist movements among certain ethnic groups, particularly the Chechens. The Kremlin views these forces as a severe threat to the state, and thus it willingly supported the U.S. led overthrow of the Talibana movement which had provided aid to these groups. Moscow has also used its participation in America's "War on Terror" as an excuse for heavy handedness in its crackdown on Islamist and separatist movements in Chechnya and elsewhere. Outside its borders, Russia is concerned about the growth of Islamism and terrorism in its traditional sphere of influence or "near abroad" the Balkans, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Many militants from these areas have significant ties to the Taliban, al–Qaeda, or other groups in Afghanistan, and therefore Russia does not want to see a Taliban comeback in Kabul or a failed state emerge in Afghanistan. While the Kremlin may disapprove of NATO's presence along its

When it comes to the topic of history repeating itself, some say that history is like a pattern that does nothing but repeat itself. Other say it does not repeat itself but that it rhymes. Some proclaim on their believe, that there is no connection between and history event that leads to "history repeating itself". Different claims are made however I am one to believe that history does repeat itself. It does not repeat itself by event occurring exactly the same, yet with similar attitudes to certain thing. Similar situations are always occurring just with different people, time, and in different ways. Two similar 'events' that occurred in history were that of slaver and that of the holocaust. Both Occurred in different times, yet both happened because of discrimination towards people of a different race than those committing the acts. These two 'events' are a reflection on how poor people reactions where, and how history tends to repeat itself, just in a different matter. History repeats itself and the way to show it is the two horrific events in different but similar ways a, the Holocaust and slavery and the poor reaction on people. Both the holocaust and slavery had to do with discrimination. They both focus on discrimination a certain race, and/or on an aspect of appearance. The pain was different both in a way quite similar. Both were forced to work for another 'race' that felt more superior to them and other races. Both would have to go through the pain of

History is a repetition of events: war after war, economic crisis after economic crisis, technology outdoing itself as we speak. A line of events that for centuries have been reported by the world's oldest storytellers: journalists. Yet, the future of journalism itself has never been as uncertain and unpredictable as it has been in the past decade and the role of 'gatekeepers' of news has never been more precarious. The digital era has brought traditional journalism to the edge, forcing the industry to update its means in order to sustain the constant commercial pressure it is put under.
On some level, the digital era disrupted an already easily corruptible industry, while from another perspective, it has opened new opportunities for innovation and renovation, which could mean the restoring of such criticized profession.
It is inferable that the 'Fourth Estate', as in journalism acting as a watchdog and as provider of objective and impartial news, is in great danger. The pressure to maximise profits and the frequent censorship, both as a result of government control, and market ownership, have undermined the industry's professionalism as a whole.
At the same time, new media has been claimed to be a dynamic tool to enhance democracy, as it allows citizens to bypass the traditional mainstream news media and to get access to a plurality of information coming from alternative and independent news providers and online watchdog organizations, untouched by any kind of pressure.

Never Ending Cycle: A Historical Analysis
History can be broken down into the past days, years, centuries, and even mega annums, but if the saying history repeats itself holds any truth, then should we not consider our history the future? I could spend hours looking through quotes about how history is a never ending cycle but George Gordon Byron says it in a way that pulls every quote together, "History, with all her volumes vast, hath but one page." So if history is just a foreshadowing event that tells of what is to come, then one might think we would be prepared for acts such as terrorism. On January 7th, 2015, two gunmen attacked the headquarters of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, killing twelve people and injuring twelve others before escaping. On 9 January, police tracked

Is History True? Handlin argues yes, while McNeill argues no. I am not one to decide for someone else if they think it is or not. However, I do believe most history is. Although, a great deal of our history went unrecorded, the amount we have can suffice to show that what's happened in the past can happen again in a contemporary situation. Oscar Handlin's argument was that our history is known as long as it's well recorded. Furthermore, he believes that we can advance into an easier and more truthful world if we diligently record our history. Handlin strongly believes that by using the scientific method one figure out certain parts of our history that are missing. There is a common saying: history always repeats itself. Going by that logic,

Oscar Handlin: Is History True?
George Santayana once said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." Following this quote, I would be expected to discuss some of the terrible actions committed in our history and that if we don't learn about these events, they are bound to be repeated in the future. Well I slightly disagree; let us repeat history. Although our nation has endured dark and shameful times, our history is also honorable and full of progress, innovation, patriotism, and triumph. The United States' history should not be confined to the worn pages of textbooks or preached only by teachers across America. It needs to be shouted from rooftops by all citizens so that we may, yes, repeat it, again and again.

Our goals should not just be to succeed, but to also celebrate the successes in which we earn. Let us learn to joyfully sing of the accomplishments of our country by looking back at those who did so before us.
Hard work. The United States was not built easily. It was constructed on the grit of those who rebelled against British rule, the blood shed during the Revolutionary War, and the hours that the Framers spent debating how to set up our Constitution. From heroes such as Harriet Tubman, who wouldn't let even the idea of losing her life stop her, to the suffragettes who refused to back down, people of generations past have done whatever it takes for the sake of bettering the country. In contrast, in the society of today, the idea of hard work seems to be a foreign concept to many people. Moreover, it appears that more often than not, people are choosing to take the easy way out rather than push through the difficulties toward progress. We need to look back on the past and see all the hard work that went into creating and maintaining this country in order to guarantee a better future.
Patriotism. Our country is a rock. It is a stronghold for its citizens to depend and lean upon. Sadly though, it weakens. With every disagreement of its people and every angry dispute, a great crack down the center lengthens. Every inch this

Do You Think You Can Repeat The Past?
I think that you can definitely repeat the past, in history it is shown that the past has definitely been repeated. When Napoleon attempted to gain territory in Russia, he failed to after winter approached, the same would happen to Hitler later on when he attempted to attack Russia. History repeated itself in Russia in similar ways. History could have repeated recently when Donald Trump wanted all people that identified as Muslim to wear a special Id Badge, what he did not realize (but the rest of the world did) was that he was proposing something extremely similar to what Hitler did to the Jewish people. I do think that the past can and will be
