“Little Stones” was a CSW62 Parallel Event held on 14 March A blog by Dawn Marie Lemonds “I attended a most fabulous program that aired a documentary about the use of contemporary art forms to address several situations of violence against women. The art forms were hip/hop and rap in Senegal to address female genital mutilation, graffiti art to address the issue of domestic violence in South America, dance therapy to help heal survivors of sex trafficking in India and a young American woman who brought fashion production to Kenya for economic empowerment! The video was stunning and then we were privileged to hear from the director and camerawoman and all four artists in the panel that was moderated by Vital Voices. These are all extremely contemporary methods particularly that appeal to young people!”
Little Stones is an award-winning documentary uniting the personal narratives of four women around the world using art to create positive change in their communities.
