Vendors Needed for Animal Welfare Society’s Bark in the Park The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County is having their eleventh annual Bark in the Park on June 3rd at Jefferson Memorial Park in Charles Town, WV. They are looking for vendors to set up for the day from 10:00-2:00. If you would like to set up a booth to display a craft or business (does not need to be animal related), visit the AWS website at www.awsjc.org. to register or call 304-725-5972 for more information. A 10 ft. by 10 ft. vendor space will cost $25.00. You must provide your own set up. Animal Rescues will be provided space free of charge.

Local interest in working with the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County is always appreciated and greatly benefits so many cats and dogs that await adoption. The Society is looking for additional members to serve on its Board of Directors. Interested persons should have an interest in providing oversight for the organization as well as assisting in fundraising efforts, establishing AWSJC policy, and sharing ideas that lead to successful adoptions of the wonderful animals at our shelter. The first-time ever advance cease fire - in the middle of General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson;s raid on the B&O Railroad Roundhouse in Martinsburg, WV - is to allow soldiers of both armies and local civilians alike to enjoy dancing to the music of the Susquehanna Travellers string band and an unusual opportunity to meet off the battlefield in a relaxed setting.
The presentation of Civil War era music and entertainment by the Susquehanna Travellers is part of the Martinsburg Roundhouse 2- day re-enactment event marking the anniversary of Jackson’s 1861 raid on Martinsburg. Throughout the Saturday and Sunday event, visitors to the Roundhouse will be treated to re-enactments of skirmishes by Civil War Soldiers, live Artillery and Cavalry demonstrations, open town hall meetings with Civil War figures portraying General Jackson and Lee, Belle Boyd, and others. There will be opportunities to learn about 19th Century battlefield medical treatment and chances to visit Civil Wars stores and merchants like those who accompanied the armies in the field. 21st century merchants, vendors, and information booths will also be open and plenty of food will be available on site. A one-time special admission charge of $5.00 will be made at the door after 6PM on Saturday. Refreshments will be available through the Roundhouse Company Store.
