DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
High school films have had a long history particularly rooted in the culture of American adolescence. Early examples emerged in the 1950s with Gidget and Rebel without a Cause, growing in popularity over the next few decades with titles such as Grease, Bye Bye Birdie, Carrie, To Sir, with Love, Footloose, and The Outsiders. By the end of the 1980s, they had become a staple of the American film, thanks in no small part to John Hughes redefining the genre with classics like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, and Sixteen Candles. Heathers was written by Daniel Waters in 1989 and became an instant cult classic. It was intended to contrast the optimistic teen movies of the era, presenting a cynical depiction of high school imbued with dark satire.
Over the last 35 years, Heathers has managed to remain in the cultural zeitgeist thanks to the 2014 off-Broadway musical, based on the film. Interestingly, it now speaks to two separate generations – one that grew up on the film and another that grew up on the musical. Parents who loved the film are now finding a shared affinity with their children who adore the musical. With an upcoming return to New York in a brand, new production, I felt it was the perfect time to introduce this wickedly funny social satire to a Singaporean audience as part of Pangdemonium’s Triple Threats.
Triple Threats was created in 2014, over a decade ago, and has been a wonderful platform for budding young musical theatre performers to hone their skills. Much of the material and process has been tailored to each individual performer to allow them the chance to grow in their craft. This year, for the very first time, performers have been given the chance to use those well-honed skills in a full-length musical! Incidentally, Heathers debuted as a musical the year that Triple Threats was conceived!
The themes in Heathers have remained eerily relevant in present day. The musical is a bold, darkly humorous, and often sobering commentary on social hierarchy, mental health, and the dangers of power and popularity amongst teenagers and high school cliques. Rosalind Wiseman’s 2002 self-help book Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence, (which became the premise for the 2004 teen film, Mean Girls), talks about the travails of navigating high school, handling patterns of aggressive behavior, insecurity, and the need to fit in. For me, I was that kid in high school that was constantly ostracized and bullied for being different. I think the unapologetic manner that the musical embraces these themes will give audience members pause as they attempt to make sense of the world of teenagers. Believe it or not, the scenarios may seem wildly fanciful but, in truth, are not that far from reality.
This musical was a beast to creatively helm but also brought immense joy in the journey. I would like to thank the entire production team who have worked tirelessly to bring this production to fruition, without which none of what you are about to see could be possible. A special shout out to the entire cast who worked sedulously to breathe life into their characters. They tell the story with humour, angst, joy, and immense heart.
I would also like to thank all of you for supporting Pangdemonium and the performing arts here in Singapore. Live theatre is an experience like no other so let’s continue to embrace it with childlike wonder and unmitigated joy! I hope you laugh, cry, gasp, and thrill at the performances!
Enjoy the show!

ARTISTIC DIRECTORS’ MESSAGE
Dear Friends,
Welcome to Pangdemonium’s Triple Threats 2025!
Since 2014, our Triple Threats model has been in the form of an intensive two-week training programme in the disciplines of singing, dancing and acting, culminating in a showcase for friends and family. But this year we are raising the stakes (and raising the roof!) with a full-fledged musical, Heathers: The Musical (Teen Edition)!
One of Pangdemonium’s key missions is to nurture young talents in a safe, professional environment. Triple Threats gives aspiring performers an opportunity to discover and develop fundamental skills and techniques of musical theatre. And perhaps more significantly, we aim to empower these young folks to feel great about themselves, while having FUN!
To our wonderful Triple Threats Director Caleb Goh; our awesome Musical Director Joanne Ho; and brilliant Vocal Coach Natalie Yeap – thank you for your dedication, patience and hard work.
And to our young Triple Threats – you’ve all demonstrated commitment, discipline, energy, and passion, learned new skills, discovered more about yourselves, and grown in self-confidence. May this be a truly memorable step in life’s journey for each and every one of you. And, welcome to the Pangdemonium family!
Thanks to the dear friends and families of these young Triple Threats – with your support, encouragement and love, the world belongs to them!
Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors Diana Koh Foundation, Shaw Foundation, and The Grace, Shua and Jacob Ballas II Charitable Trust, whose support makes this programme possible.
Best regards,
Adrian & Tracie Pang Artistic Directors

QUOTES FROM THE CAST
(IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER)
Sophie Elizabeth Chew
I am currently a Year 2 Theatre student at School of the Arts (SOTA), and I fell in love with musical theatre at the age of 3. My interest was further developed after I watched School of Rock on the West End at age 7. Fun fact: three of my top five Spotify Wrapped songs last year were from Heathers: The Musical!
After such an amazing and fulfilling experience in Triple Threats last year, I was thrilled to audition again — especially for Heathers: The Musical (Teen Edition)! Being cast as Martha is an incredible honour, and I’m grateful for this opportunity to further develop my performance skills while growing as a performer in this production.
Heather Chung
Originating from Korea, I graduated from NAFA’s Diploma in Theatre (English Drama) in 2024 with the Best Graduate Award. I am currently honing my craft in LASALLE College of the Arts’s BA (Hons) Acting programme, where I continuously strive to deepen and refine my artistry.
I deeply love acting, dancing, and singing, and this is a wonderful opportunity to develop my skills in all three areas. Since I haven’t had formal musical theatre training before, I wanted to take this chance to explore this new field and grow as a well-rounded performer.
Franklin Noel Ding
I have been a passionate performer and musician since I was a child, obsessed with the musicals Ride The Cyclone, Chicago, and Cabaret. Having been in Sing’theatre’s productions of Grease (2024) as Doody, Aladdin (2024) as the Sultan, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2025) as Leaf Coneybear, I strongly believe in the transformative power of musical theatre.
I joined Triple Threats simply because I love to perform. I also love meeting like-minded people and making friends with them throughout the production process! Through this process, I will not only be able to improve my skills as a musical theatre performer, but also have lots of fun.
Foo Xi Kai
I am a Visual Arts student with a passion for musical theatre and often dabble in stage design. I’m currently training at The Voice Company and would love to thank my teacher, Ms. Johanna!
I wanted to join Triple Threats to begin my journey in musical theatre. It’s an amazing opportunity for youths to explore theatre and be involved in it. Everyone I’ve met is so kind and welcoming, which has really helped me navigate the unfamiliar aspects of theatre.
Loic Lastennet
Ever since I began singing at the age of 7, I’ve had the privilege of performing at the Singapore National Day Parade, ChildAid, the pre-show of Nathania Ong: Spirit of Giving, Pangdemonium’s Triple Threats in 2024, and most recently, at a recital in Carnegie Hall, New York.
Heathers: The Musical (Teen Edition) offers me the chance to explore bold characters and themes, and to grow as a performer while being part of a full ensemble. I am excited to help tell a story that is edgy, emotional, and meaningful, and to share this experience with the audience.
Arielle Leung
I’m Arielle, and I’m a Year 5 Music student at SOTA. I’m thrilled to be returning to Triple Threats this year as part of the cast of Heathers: The Musical (Teen Edition)! Outside of musical theatre, I enjoy various activities such as embroidery, tarot, composing, and journaling.
Being a part of Triple Threats has helped me grow and blossom into a better performer in a supportive environment, and I look forward to continuing to polish my skills alongside my fellow cast members. Truly, I couldn’t have asked for better company.
Kristen Lin
I am an aspiring actress and a recent graduate of Temasek Polytechnic’s Digital Film & Television course. I discovered my love for acting through my CCA, Teatro, performing in various school plays. Heathers: The Musical (Teen Edition) marks my exciting debut in musical theatre, and I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter!
I’ve always loved Heathers: The Musical, so joining this year’s Triple Threats felt like the perfect opportunity. It’s one of my favourite shows, and I’m excited to challenge myself, grow as a performer, and be part of such a bold, brilliant production alongside other passionate young artists.
Aoife Morrison
Hi! I am a first year student at SOTA. I participated in my first-ever dance competition in 2019 in Gold Coast, Australia, where I performed a musical theatre piece titled Never Grow Up from the musical Peter Pan. That experience further developed my love and interest in theatre, which led me to start auditioning for numerous productions.
I enjoy watching musicals — I am always fascinated and amazed by the raw talent on stage. I aspire to be just like these performers in the future. I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to participate in this musical and further develop my performance skills while making new friends and memories.
Romana Raihan
I have just graduated from Junior College and I am waiting to major in Economics at National University of Singapore. One of my earliest memories is watching The Lion King live, and musical theatre has been an integral part of my life since. My favourite musical is Falsettos, which embodies what musical theatre means to me — unabashedly human.
I’ve never been part of a musical production before, so I took this as a chance to fulfill what was once a pipe dream of mine. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to develop my skills! Heathers: The Musical was my first favourite musical, and I can’t wait for it to be my first musical theatre performance too.
Gaspar Tan
I am Gaspar, an aspiring actor and musical theatre performer. Originally drawn to a career in science research and analytics, I discovered a deep love for the stage in 2023. This newfound passion led me to pursue formal training, and I am now enrolled in the Diploma in Performance at LASALLE.
I feel that this is a great opportunity for me to test myself and see how much I’ve grown over the past two years. Heathers: The Musical was actually the first musical I ever watched, and I’m beyond excited to revisit it as part of Triple Threats!
Kemi Tan
I have always had a passion for the performing arts. Since I was young, I’ve been attending classes, performances, and competitions to improve my craft. I’ve also watched many musicals! Musical theatre is important to me because of how magical it is.
My dream is to perform in a musical on the big stage. That’s why I chose to join Triple Threats — it feels like a dream come true! Being part of the magic that comes with staging a musical and performing with my friends on stage is an experience I will truly cherish.
Sarah Tan
I am studying theatre at SOTA, and my current favourite musical is Wicked, as so much emotion is portrayed in the songs, and it perfectly describes the feeling of being misunderstood and being the odd one out, as well as exploring the themes of friendship, betrayal, and grief.
I have always had a passion for singing and theatre, so when I found out that there was a programme that combined the two, I immediately signed up. I am so grateful for this opportunity to polish my skills and make new friends along the way.
Maximus Jacob Tarnopolsky
I love getting on stage and embracing the joy of performing. Raised in the US and Singapore, I’ve been drawn to acting and public speaking since starring in The Prince of Egypt at age 5. Now, I’m eager to expand my versatility and be inspired by Pangdemonium’s passionate performers.
As J.D. so wisely says, “Chaos is great, and it becomes a little magical when harnessed by vibrant creatives.” When the opportunity to participate in Triple Threats came along, I leapt at it. I’m eager to learn, lose myself under the tutelage of visionary artists, and embrace the chaos of the stage.
Toh Kai Kiat Bryan
I’m a 15 year old student at Swiss Cottage Secondary School, where I discovered my passion for musical theatre through my involvement in the Swiss Show Choir. Cabaret, Newsies, and Wicked are my favourite musicals. I am thrilled by how musicals capture audiences’ attention through song and dance. With the support of my family, teachers, and friends, I hope to continue pursuing my passion.
After my choir conductor introduced me to Triple Threats, I jumped at the opportunity. Being my first time in a musical, I’m excited to create lasting memories, meet new friends, and bring my talent to life on stage.
Lucas Wan
I discovered my passion for music at 14 and have pursued musical theatre ever since. Currently studying for a Diploma in Performance at LASALLE, I’m training to become a musical theatre artiste with aspirations to write and stage original musicals on Broadway, combining performance with creative storytelling.
It’s very hard to find opportunities to train in musical theatre and work with others who love it as much as I do, especially in Singapore. When I saw the chance to learn and be part of a local production, I went straight for it.

Hello, I’m 20 this year and currently pursuing a private diploma in Music Production and Audio Engineering. My first exposure to musicals were through online bootlegs of Heathers and coming across the opening number of Beetlejuice on Broadway. I was hooked instantly.

I auditioned for the Triple Threats Programme because I wanted to give justice to my younger self who was too afraid to pursue her passions, and prove that I can achieve anything I set my mind to.
