Congratulations to our T ball players who represented the school so very well at the recent BJSL event. In very hot conditions, each team was able to put their practice into action, coming together as really effective teams. It was such a joy to see the children competing and supporting each other.
There was a different kind of joy watching our Year 7 and Year 8 students perform three Shakespeare plays in one evening! There were lots of dastardly deeds and tragic demises in their superb renditions of 'The Tempest' and 'Hamlet', with a slightly more light hearted rendition of 'A Midsummer's Night Dream'. The students were so impressive and their hard work, in such a short period of time, certainly 'paid off' with the audience captivated throughout. Congratulations to all of the children, the visionary Director, Mr. Ben and his team for providing a thrilling night's entertainment - bravo!
Lots to look forward to next week; Maths Day on Wednesday 23rd April and Teraja/Melilas Sports Day on Friday 25thApril. Please also sign up for the Blood Drive, taking place next Friday. To the Rescue!
We had an incredible opportunity to learn from real-life superheroes as Captain Gerd and Mr. Chris visited Mendaram to talk about their roles in the Search and Rescue ( SAR ) team. Captain Gerd is a helicopter pilot, Mr. Chris is a winchman paramedic for BSP’s SAR service.
They shared fascinating photos and videos, showing us the specialised equipment they use to save lives. We learned about the different hand signals used to communicate during rescue, as well as what it feels like to be safely secured in a strop. There was also a hands-on opportunity to try on helmets and gloves, giving us a feel for the gear they wear.
This week in NTC we have been making Easter eggs. It is a tradition in the Netherlands where children decorate hard-boiled eggs on easter Sunday with bright colours and then participate in an Easter egg hunt, where the children search for eggs that the ‘Paashaas’ (Easter bunny) has hidden. The children thoroughly enjoyeddecoratingtheireggs.
Thursday, 10th April, Reception children hadawonderfultimevisitingMendaramto celebrate Eid. It was a lovely opportunity for them to share festive moments with their younger friends. Together we watchedashortvideoonEidandfollowed by interesting and fun activities. The children came back home with their own made “Honey Cornflakes” cookies. So yummy!! Thank you Mendaram and the parent volunteers who organised the event.
The children had a great morning walking around the camp looking for warning signs and colours. We used our new knowledge to understand more about aposematisminbugs.

Playing Traditional Games
Rampayoh had their Sports day on Friday 11th April. The children showed fantastic resilience and cooperation with all the activities. They learnt to inspire each other and celebrate together as a school. Everyone had an awesome time!
After the tournament was rearranged due to inclement weather in February, the BJSL T-Ball Championships for 2025 were finally organised. Eager in their approach, our fine young players travelled a short distance in order to find glory and fame. The competition was fierce, and so was the desire from all involved to be crowned champions. Our U9s team fought bravely against experienced opposition, and gave a great account of themselves, as did our fantastic U10s. Final, and ultimate praise though must go to ur U11 team, who were crowned BJSL Champions for 2025! We were incredibly proud of allourcompetitors, andonceagain, theydidourcommunityproud.
Year 3 students visited Seria bowling to complete our unit on forces.
We saw concepts learnt: Push, pull, friction and speed in action.
Y4 Active Planet Exit Point
Year 4 children celebrated the end of their learning in IPC, Active Planet, by exhibiting their learning with interactive presentations, displays and activities which we invited Year 3 and Year 5 to come and experience.
The other year groups had opportunities to explore volcanoes, make lava bubbles, learn about Vesuvius, Pompeii, Earthquakes, Volcanoes and how charities help others in these natural disasters.
It was great to see our Year 4 being the experts on a topic they have enjoyed learning about so much!
To end our Year 5 Fairgrounds unit, we went on an excursion to Jerudong Park
However, we weren’t just there for fun—we were taking our learning into the real world. It was a chance to see, feel, and experience how fairground rides work in real life. All we can say is that it was a real scream!
We had so much fun exploring the park. The first ride we went on was the roller coaster. It went loop-de-loop and made us all scream with excitement! After that, we rode the Ferris wheel, where we could see the whole park from the top. Next, we tried the Blaze Blaster. We got wet and laughed a lot—it was such a cool ride! Then, we hopped on the pirate ship, which swung back and forth like it was on big waves. Finally, we ended our adventure with a thrilling ride called the Loop-de-Loop.
It was an exciting and unforgettable day, full of fun and learning!
