Page 1

Dear Parents,

We had a fabulous production of Sultan Bolkiah (the 5th Sultan of Brunei) in our Whole Assembly this morning (following their parent performance) to end our Term 2. Congratulations to the 12 students from Year 1 and 2, along with our wonderful singers, who have worked so hard and cooperated so well, to entertain us - Bravo! Our children love to perform and so many took the opportunity to exhibit their skills and passions in the recent 'Shining Lights Extravaganza'. Congratulations to everyone that took part, including our finalists. At the very start of Term 3, our Year 3 and 4 students will be performing at their 'Fringe Festival', with Year 7 and 8 entertaining us with their Artistic Presentation Week - something we are all really looking forward to.

Lots of learning activities have been taking place right up to the end of the term including Mardi Gras, Supertatos, 'It's shocking', 'How Humans Work', volcanoes, investigations into energy and theatre make up! Thank you to parents for supporting some of these exit points with you attendance and participation. We are looking for further parent support and attendance at several events next term, including 'International Day' - please see further details for how you can contribute to this wonderful community event, at the end of this BiWeekly.

Wishing everyone a lovely, peaceful and safe term break. We wish our Muslim community Selamat Hari Raya as Ramadan comes to an end and Eid begins. We look forward welcoming the children back to school on Monday 7thApril.

Best Wishes, Brian, SLTand all of our staff.

Panaga Shining Lights

We called and the amazing Panaga School students answered! This Inter-house talent competition gathered in a lot of great acts from across all three campuses. Each contestant geared to win the trophy, and the whooping 30 house points, for their houses!

Panaga Shining Lights

From piano pieces, loom band tricks, Indian classical dances. miming performances, magic tricks, singing, gymnastic displays and even ‘Fortnight’ curriculum appeals, the performances were as intriguing as they were varied.

Panaga Shining Lights

We would like to congratulate all the participants, the finalists and all the winners from across all three campuses. A big congratulations to Kaavya in Year 8 who won the trophy at the end of the day! See you all next year!

in French/ NTC class

In the last week, students have been creating Pokemon cards in French and NTC. In NTC, the students in Reception to Year 2 have created their own Pokemon and then wrote Dutch sentences about their characters.

Moos Year 2
Lenny Year 2
Izzy Year 2

In Teraja and Year 8, students made Pokemon cards about French and Belgium comic characters. This project was linked to book week, whereby the students were introduced to French and Belgium comics. The students had to choose a comic character and do some research about it before creating a Pokemon card. The students were introduced to brand new comic characters.

The students loved making their Pokemon cards. Learning a language is not all about the language itself, students are also introduced to various cultural aspects of the country. What Belgium comics? Belgium comics are one of the best in the world (Miss Steph’s opinion). Furthermore, they are bilingual as they are written in French and Dutch.

In year 7, the students had to design their own characters and describe them in French. We have just learn how to describe other people using regular adjectives. When describing their characters, the students had to also write sentences in the negative form and of course use the third person singular. They were also encouraged to use new vocabulary.

I

could not think of a better lesson, combining comics with Pokemon.
