The measure would prohibit classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through third-grade. For older students, the bill would bar such instruction that is “not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate” as determined by state academic standards. Opponents said the wording is vague enough that lawsuits could follow any mention of gender or orientation, even at upper grade levels.

Last week’s average price for gasoline in Florida was $3.57 per gallon. According to AAA’s survey, 54% would change their driving behaviors at that price — and it’s soared past $4 since then. Eighteen percent said their habits would never change.
