Ingredients

Makes 4 servings
Cook pasta in pot of boiling salted water until just tender but still firm to bite. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup pasta cooking liquid. Return pasta to pot. Meanwhile, cook pancetta in large nonstick skillet over medium heat until crisp. Using slotted spoon, transfer pancetta to paper towels to drain. Pour off all but 1 teaspoon drippings from skillet. Add asparagus to drippings in skillet; sauté 3 minutes. Add peas, white and pale green parts of green onions, and garlic; sauté until vegetables are just tender, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Add vegetable mixture, 1/4 cup pasta cooking liquid, dark green parts of green onions, 1/2 cup Parmesan, cream, olive oil, lemon juice, lemon peel, half of parsley, and half of basil to pasta. Toss, adding more cooking liquid by tablespoonfuls if needed. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Transfer to large bowl. Sprinkle pancetta, remaining parsley, and basil over. Serve, passing additional Parmesan cheese.

5 Key Fundamentals
As the golf winter season comes to a close, it is very important to build the golf swing to solid fundamentals. Practicing these positions indoors or out will prepare you for summer season!

1. Set-up The set-up position is 75% of the golf swing. Poor posture may manipulate your golf swing by forcing positions that your body cannot perform. (This is how unorthodox golf swings are created.) P.G.A. is the proper set-up - that is, Posture, Grip and Aim. It is important to assume the athletic position for your posture. Check your posture with this simple drill: place a golf club on your spine by holding the handle of the club against your tailbone and the head of the club touching your neck. This will allow you to feel your pelvis being pushed back and not bending from the waist. The grip needs to be positioned into the fingers of the hand, not the palms. The last three fingers on the left hand and the middle and ring finger on the right hand are the pressure points. Try to maintain a light grip pressure on the club. To achieve proper aim, clubface is placed on the target line and your body parallel to that line. Visualize yourself standing on a railroad track: your body will be the inner track and clubface on the outer track. These two lines cross never cross. 2. Takeaway The arms and club together form a triangle. Stretch the triangle back to waist high with the toe of the clubface pointing to the sky. You should feel some weight shift to the inside of your right foot. A good extension of your arms will make your body pivot into your right foot. 3. Top of the swing Complete your shoulder turn 90 degrees to the ball. Hips will follow the rotation 45 degrees. This motion builds torque in to the body of your swing which will produce power. This position is frequently called the “X factor”. Maintain a spine tilt during this process for best results.
4. Downswing The most difficult position to master is the downswing. The transfer of your weight will immediately pivot over to your left leg. It is important to open your left hip and turn it out so that it does not slide forward. This will allow your arms to drop in to the slot retaining the angle of your wrist for better release and power. If your arms start the motion first, you will not be able to retain the angle which may result in hitting behind the ball. Let gravity be your friend and allow the club to return to the impact position. 5. Impact to Finish The impact position will feel like your set-up but your left hip is open 45 degrees. Remembering the 90/45 degree differential from the top, you must keep the separation to the impact. Do not allow the left shoulder to “outrace” the left hip leaving no separation. Otherwise, you may experience an “over the top” movement. In the finish, the golf club will rotate around your body with arms finishing over your left shoulder. The result is a good balanced position. Remember to finish with all your weight posted on your left leg with right foot resting on its toe. By practicing these key positions in your golf swing, you will experience solid contact and consistent ball flight. Purposeful practice produces perfect results! Narcissism And Social Networking - by Todd Langwell
Social networking has made it easy to share nearly every detail of our lives by merely fluttering out a few keystrokes on the PC or thumbing a line or two on our portable devices. But, is all that sharing and downright self-promotion turning us into a society of narcissists? Some researchers fear so. While there is some dissent on the matter, a growing number of researchers and social commentators are blaming social networking for a rising tide of self-absorption among its users. Facebook, MySpace and Twitter have given countless millions the ability to post scores of pictures of themselves, supply their friends with status messages updating the most mundane aspects of life and even provide a blow-by-blow account of their exact location at any given time. So, what’s wrong with posting a twentypicture portfolio of you and your new coffee maker? Where’s the harm in alerting everyone you know that you’re watching the latest Netflix Blu-ray release on your fiftyinch television? Is it really so bad to “checkin” at the hippest restaurant in town with the coolest people you know? Maybe not on the surface, but some observers point to a shift in focus away from others and onto self-centeredness by those who practice this constant broadcasting. Posing the following question may best sum up the argument that social networking is contributing to a generation of narcissists

— would you really call up everyone you know to inform them that you were at the coffee shop ordering a large, non-fat, easy-whip Mochachino? Probably not. You certainly wouldn’t call them up just to tell them about your coffee and then hang up. You would most certainly inquire as to what they were doing and how they have been. You would engage in a dialogue. Social networking, in contrast, lends itself to monologues. Encouragement of a subject to reach out and establish empathy with others is one of the techniques used to treat disorders wherein social disconnection is an issue. Ironically, while it may seem to be connecting people at first glance, social networking might actually be leading to growing disconnection and waning empathy. Some experts note that the terse, surface-level exchanges of social sites do nothing to bond people in a meaningful way. In fact, they may actually fool people into thinking they are having real human contact when they are not. As an analogy, social networking might be compared to eating sugar-free gelatin — it looks like food, smells like food and tastes like food but in reality; it has absolutely no nutritional value. Facebook and Twitter might also be causing users to become more shallow and selfpromoting. The idea that status broadcasts go out to a mixed bag of friends, family and
acquaintances may lead the originator to put the best possible spin on every situation. We don’t want to expose our weaknesses to potential rivals or those who might use that information against us but, often, those people are included in our online “friends.” We don’t want our in-laws to know we might be experiencing difficulties in our marriage. It is just poor business sense to let potential customers know that our business may be faltering. This need to censor the kind of information we disseminate can lead to feelings of isolation — especially, the more we begin to replace face-to-face relationships with online interaction. The real warning of this kind of self-imposed shallowness may lie in, “As you sow, so shall you reap,” or possibly, “You are what you eat.” There are those who argue: the more we focus on the shallow — the more we focus on ourselves — the more shallow and selfobsessed we become. While the inclination toward narcissism and the superficial undoubtedly varies from individual to individual, it is definitely something to be conscious of as our lives become further entrenched in the information age. Take the Choke out of Walking your Dog on a Leash - contribute by Rachel Williams, The Dog Smith
I have been thinking lately about the practice of using choke collars and jerking the lead as a “correction” that many people still use when training and handling their dog. The most common ‘use’ of the ‘jerk’ correction I have noticed is when a dog owner wants their dog to ‘heel’. I have witnessed many dog handlers telling their dog ‘heel’ as they have issued a big leash correction. And usually the result of this ‘correction’ is frustrating to the dog owner as the dog pulls even harder against the leash. ‘Heel’ is supposed to be the cue for walk in the appropriate place. Think about it. If you were constantly jerked, pulled or tugged when you were next to, slightly in front of, or behind your owner, would you choose to be in a ‘heel’ position or would you forge ahead or fall behind to escape or evade any future corrections. If I had experienced a correction like that while hearing the cue ‘heel’ I would also want to head for the hills when I heard that word. Inadvertently sometimes the ‘heel’ cue becomes a warning signal to the dog that a correction is coming and thus the cue evokes a ‘move away behavior’ from the owner. It is far more pleasant and effective for a dog to learn appropriate leash manners when they are taught where to walk nicely in relation to their walking partner rather than being corrected for getting it wrong. If the dog is reinforced for correct placement and pace then they will no longer forge ahead or lag behind. A dog training ‘cue’ should be music to the ears of a dog. A dog who has been trained using effective, efficient and pleasant methods will happily respond to a ‘cue’ and training your dog will be a more pleasant experience for all. So let’s take the ‘choke’ out of training and replace it with clear concise instructions that builds your dog’s behavior repertoire, sets your dog up for success and rewards them when they get it right. This is a far more pleasant situation for both owner and dog. In addition to being an ineffective training method, there are real health concerns when a dog’s head is jerked around. TPBL
