I am Pallavi Bansal, pursuing my career as an Interior Designer. I was as little as fourteen when I sparked an interest in art and design. From instinctive sketching to designing walls with monochrome shades and classic frames, I had discovered my passion. Under mainstream flow, I opted for Bachelors in Commerce at Delhi University where I was also a part of various groups and communities such as Theatre. It wasn't long until I had a calling from where my passion belonged which is when I decided to go for Design School. After having managed my Graduation and Diploma together, I achieved First Position in my Department.

That's where my journey as an Interior Designer took off. I am a keen learner and quite an intuitive observer in terms of design. Working with numerous companies and freelancing through the years has taught me a great deal about technical knowledge and individuality alike. My hobbies yet diversify to baking cakes, making art and travelling.

This Portfolio is a representation of my work as an Interior Designer.

PROJECT-1 This is an upcoming 3 floor - 6200 sq. ft. Villa in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India.

I am the lead designer for the project under And studios.

The villa is of a modern colonial look. We have taken the added advantage and inspiration from the lush greens around and designed the interiors around natural elements like stone and wood. To glam up, brass, velvet touches have been given in the form of upholsteries, accent arts.

Defined by simplicity and sophistication, this Modern Contemporary design features a deliberate use of textures and clean lines. Based in one of the hottest cities in India- Raipur, this design features cooler colors and elements for heat control. Wider windows are integrated as a major factor contributing to ample ventilation. Base material is Burberry grey marble. Double height dining and entrance foyer features floor marble inlays with interesting geometric shapes to amp up the space.

This informal family lounge is designed around stone and wooden paneling. The light marble accents in the wall are complemented with dark veneer in the feature wall, to develop a contrasting visual appeal. The tv wall is a hanging wall feature being the focal point. A step down has been incorporated to unbar more space and also includes important design elements like the end tables embedded with it.

The design language of this living room revolves around luxury and colors. Furniture inspiration has been taken from Italian brand Minotti. Walls feature HDHMR board paneling with charcoal grey texture paint. The room had just one wall to play with as the rest were windows..

So I incorporated decorative display shelves to add an accent wall element.

This is the master bedroom of the residence. Walls are white with Moldings. The Bed back wall is the focal point of the room. It’s covered with veneer and fabric paneling.

Theirs is dresser door that has been flushed in the paneling itself so as it give a seamless look to the room.

The tv wall features a full height dressing mirror with a wall mounted drawer.

The color palette is brown white and teal.

This is a U shaped open kitchen plan featuring PU shutters with Loft cabinets in tinted glass with strip light detail. The grey Burberry stone of the Common area in continued inside the interiors for a seamless look.

The backsplash stone is panda white where as the shutters are in Blush pink and grey matt PU finishes.

The EPT drawings were made after appliance selections such as OTG units, sink, Refrigerator.

Plan Landscape of the residence is designed around the prime rubble masonry texture used on exterior walls.

Water bodies have been added in order to make interesting use of the space. Lighting is enhancing the architectural elements. Bollard lights, spike lights have been integrated with the green in order to create dramatic visuals. On the left side pathway, arches have been given to add geometry to the design and break the straight line monotony.

Once we were through with our 3D renderings and 2D drawings, An average project cost estimate was prepared. From civil to furnishings and décor, everything was covered.

We had a budget with which the interiors were to be achieved as per 3D renderings. Smart choices were made to cut the overall project cost. For instance, natural tiles were selected instead of stones, natural wooden look laminates have been preferred instead of veneers. In a lot of places, we have proposed liquid metal instead of Metal strips. With relation to soft furnishings, hand tufted rugs were selected instead of hand knotted.

The BOQ set a benchmark for us to do the material selections accordingly.

PROJECT-2

This project was handed over to the client by Emaar Marbella team as a blank white canvas. It was very bland project with inappropriate ceilings, average looking toilets and wrongly done services.

It’s a 4 floor villa including a basement covering around 7500 sq. ft. carpet area in Gurugram, Haryana, India.

I am the lead designer for the project under And studios.

The villa is designed keeping in mind the subtle classical look and feel wanted by client. We had to re-do the entire false ceiling of the residence to garner more height, redone the plumbing for better functioning toilet layouts. Interior walls were demolished so the space feels more open and grand.

Inspiration

The idea behind the selections was to give a timeless feel to the space.

Walls are wrapped in beige textured wallpaper, Where as curtains are plan in a self fabric with Applique blue velvet border. Linen sofas are complimented with Textured and quilted Cushions.

This is an open plan layout featuring a Formal living, dining, and a family living space. Color palette revolves around white upholstery, beige wallpaper walls and blue soft furnishings. Brass Jalis have been added to break straight line monotony. Columns are embedded with mirrors to reflect back the space and provide a luxurious feeling.

This Informal Lounge is an extension to the family living and dining, features a Bianco Lasa Marble wall and blue accents in continuity from Formal Living. The Bar is integrated with the TV unit enabling an efficient use of space. The design language remains the same yet having a hint of warm teal hue that adds warmth to the space. The TV wall cladded with the marble has subtle grains balancing the overall space and design

Existing site The basement of the residence was to be converted in party space with a mancave theme. We broke the ceilings, closed the ventilators with paneling, proposed fresh air ducts through them, and after lots of brainstorming with client’s requirement, we came up with these designs.

There were big services and plumbing pipes that were terminated half way through the walls, so we concealed them in design elements such as wooden columns and fireplace. Wrought iron railings were replaced with a glass and metal one.

The master suite boasts the aura of elegance & comfort and leaves an everlasting impression of indulgence.

The colors such as the pop of salmon has been balanced in such a way that it looks soothing to the eye, while balancing out with lighting fixtures and the feature wall behind the bed made out of a custom fabric.

The design of this master bedroom in EMAAR homes is a symphony of curated fluted paneling detailing along with a fleeting affair of textures and patterns with neutral shades.

The touch of wood here and there adds a sense of warmth and comfort, making the room a perfect sanctuary to relax in after a long day. Blue is the pre dominant color in the room incorporated to provide a feeling of freshness

3D Render An interesting blend of the modern and the traditional, The Mandir in this residence acts as the space to worship & meditate.

An interesting take on the lighting fixture has been done here wherein the bell has been used as a down lighter lamp to illuminate the sides, while a comfortable seat on the floor with a white textured wall adds to the tranquility.

PROJECT-3

This is a renovation project. The client had already got the interiors done with their previous architect and was not satisfied with the emptiness of the space. Too much white and black had been used which gives the space a lifeless and commercial look.

It’s a 2 floor villa covering around 8000 sq. ft. carpet area in Amritsar.

I am the lead designer for the project under And studios.

We have revamped the space with exclusive Furniture pieces from Form Italia, Tonino Lamborghini and Aston martin. The existing surfaces such as staircase and brass railings are accentuated with different treatments in terms of finishing and paneling.

3D Renderings An oasis of chic & comfort, this drawing room is complemented with neutral hues against a subtle wooden background, with lighting accents on the ceiling and the floor, adding value to the overall aesthetic of the space.

The previous interiors had a very cold vibe so we revamped the space with warm shades of wood and leather.

Previously the double height lobby gave a feeling of emptiness and a bold straight line design was there, so we revamped the design by adding shaped in the form of circular floor mandalas and lnlay, textures have been added in the form of onyx stone and screens.

A focal point has been created as we have used a brass tree which compliments the height of the lobby.

Platform has been introduced below staircase with strip lighting to remove the negative space and integrate a proper landing with console table and modern art.

PROJECT-4 It’s an ostentatious, rich, classical project for Mr. Vinay Gupta - the owner of Apollo pipes.

The residence has exquisite classical molding paneling with gold leafing, heavy ornamented ceilings, rich marble and semi precious stone inlays with chandeliers sourced from Baccarat and furniture from premium brands like Georgitti, Longhi and Boca do Lobo.

It’s a 5 floor bungalow including a basement and a stilt floor covering around 22000 sq. ft. carpet area in Maharani Bagh, New Delhi.

I was the lead designer for the project under Fab interiors.

Master Toilet

The master toilet of the residence is defined by rich semi precious stone floor inlay, Walls are cladded with Michael Angelo where as the floor is laid with onyx. The ceiling is intricately detailed and cornices are finished in gold leafing to enhance the classical character of the toilet.

3D Render The kitchen of this residence is rich with mocha PU shutters and with backsplash and countertop in “Crystalized Agate”. It’s designed carefully keeping in mind the classical nature of the residence. Tall storages have been provided with Tandem units.

Site image 3D Render This is one of the son’s toilet of the residence. The character of the space lies in copper finish cladded vanity and playful stone cladding.

Walls and floor are cladded in “Grigio opera” and “Brown saint Laurent”. The vanity is given end to end so as to give a luxurious feel to the toilet whilst maximizing the functionality by providing extra toiletry storage.

3D Render The swimming pool is an extension of the basement party space. It is designed keeping in mind the size of the family. Bar unit inside the pool, extra seating spaces have been given to rejuvenate and enhance interaction and activity. The tapered backlit panels and feature clock walls are cladded mosaics from Siccis.

The space lacked natural light so A sky stretch ceiling from Barrisol has been integrated in the ceiling to freshen up the entire feeling

Inspiration

Wall mural

The inspiration for this terrace is derived from the infamous Trevi fountain in Rome, Italy.

Water body, color palette and wall murals revolve around the same language and theme. The language follows to the backdrop of the bar unit with backlit onyx horses. Sodalite blue is the feature stone to add a blue element , where as Delicatus white and Stella grey are the base granites used on the floor.

Details

Doors play an enormous role in a residence’s first impression and add to the design language, while enhancing the curb appeal. This residence had two type of doors used floor wise. Once the inspiration was derived, Detailed drawings were made to get the doors in production. Superior quality Simonswerk hinges have been used as to provide unmatchable sturdiness.

PROJECT-5

This is an Open Office interior project for a decorative light company. I worked on this project as a remote designer for The Haute Interiors (THI Designs) - a Chicago based firm.

I worked on the space planning, GFC set (MEP, elevations), It was quite fun to explore an open office layout which is an amalgamation of a lighting showroom as well as an office.

3D Render The sunken courtyard of this residence is all about earthy and lively materials to amplify the space. Green walls, black granite flooring with blue accent lights, water body feature, cascade waterfalls are making the space truly unique to compliment the interiors of this residence. Walls are cladded in laminam.

This Space is surrounded with lush greens and ample natural light accentuating the neutral color palette of the space.

The staircase cutout involves a Toughened glass skylight inset in aluminum louvers supporting a heavy brass triple height chandelier.

Walls have been paneled with Neolith (starta argentum river-washed) along with grey died veneer. Lift surround has a brass finish that is defining the lift’s character without overdoing it creating a strike contrast between it and the base materials.

PROJECT-7

This is a bohemian contemporary café designed for “Travel junkies” in Tirthan valley. The idea was to keep it as economical as possible.

Ropes in ceilings and on columns, raw brick walls, mango wood furniture, wooden crates have been proposed to keep it cost effective yet edgy. lighting, wall art are catchy as to bring out the character of the space.

Furnishings , rugs and tables are filled with vibrant color pallet to create a lively and energetic vibe.

Sketchup view The jewelry shop was designed for a diamond merchant in Chandigarh. Nearby entrance , there’s a display island given to accentuate prominent jewelry. Brass and wooden counters have been given to compliment the plush vibe of the jewelry store. Flooring is mocha crema marble. It is a well lit showroom to accentuate the jewelry sold. Salmon pink color is used in chairs to add a feminine character to the space.

The dressing unit is designed for a neo classical dresser to be used by the lady of the house. Shutters and drawers are in HDHMR in PU paint finish with carcass in BWP ply.

Legs are in pure hardwood to bear the weight of the unit.

Boasting a solid structure of wonderful wood veneer, the This study desk offers an oak ambience enriched by a cigar club finish and divinely decorative heritage bronze hardware.

Featuring a luxurious leather insert for those who spend time writing or drawing, the desk also features flawless javelin feet capped in heritage bronze.

These are the three selected projects that I am adding to my portfolio. These projects made me top the Interior design department of the college. There’s a lot of hard work & dedication which went behind to achieve the output with the help of hand renderings and hand drafting on an A3 sheet.

All work done is manual.

Concepts have been painted in water colors where as steadlers are used to shade the elevations and plans.

In life, my interior design career and imagination, Art played a paramount role. It taught me patience, persistence and determination. It enabled me to express my thoughts on paper by giving me the liberty to take risks. Art gives me an instinctive vision for colors and inspires me to draw inspiration from nature.
