Stifel Palisades Tahoe Cup Welcome Guide

2023 FEB 24–26

On behalf of the entire team at Palisades Tahoe, please join me in celebrating the 2023 Stifel Palisades Tahoe Cup.

Athletes, coaches, officials, support crew, volunteers, sponsors and spectators: it is my great honor to welcome you to our destination and to watch the greatest athletes from around the world compete on legendary Red Dog. Palisades Tahoe is steeped in a rich history of ski racing and for producing some of the world’s top athletes. As host of the 1960 Winter Olympics, a 2017 Women’s Audi FIS Ski World Cup, more than one U.S. National Alpine Championship and an annual calendar of regional and local competitive events, we are proud to support competitive athletes at every level of their progression. We are thankful to the team at U.S. Ski and Snowboard and International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) for awarding us this prestigious spot on the world stage.

The Red Dog venue is centrally located with easy access to the mountain, The Village at Palisades Tahoe and the exciting line-up of entertainment scheduled for this event. The all-new Red Dog chairlift will greatly enhance the athlete experience and we encourage you to take a ride on the new Base to Base Gondola connecting Palisades to Alpine—it is a spectacular ride, an engineering feat in the world of lifts and a historic dream that was 70 years in the making and enables uninterrupted access to 6,000 skiable acres on the finest peaks in the Sierra.

Welcome and Thank you for being a part of the 2023 Stifel Palisades Tahoe Cup!

Race Course

Red Dog

The Red Dog race hill is a challenging track with a variety of flat, steep and fall away pitches that will test the world’s best FIS Alpine Ski racers. It flows down the mountain with direction changes and a mix of terrain. Out of the start it will be full attack to build speed going into the top flat before the drop into Upper Dog Leg. This is a blind roll over onto a steep pitch with a compression below. It benches out then leads into a mini pitch heading into the lower dog leg with a bank on the skiers right. From there it feeds into the lower pitch that falls away to the right demanding a nice touch on the left ski and full power on the right footed turns. The hill tries to pull you to the right and it’s relentless down the bottom pitch to the finish.

TRAVELER RESPONSIBILITY PLEDGE

PRESERVE NATURAL BEAUTY

North Lake Tahoe has captivated millions over generations. Our region is a shining example of nature’s beauty when well-preserved. Let’s all promise to do our part to take care of it, so that we may continue to come together for generations to come. We invite you to take the pledge and commit to our guiding principles.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO BEING A RESPONSIBLE TRAVELER THIS WINTER:

BECOME A STEWARD

Commit to exploring the region responsibly and utilize TART Connect.

RESPECT THE ENVIRONMENT

Be mindful of your eco-footprint and dispose of trash in designated receptacles.

BE FIRE SAFE

Snuggle up by a firepit with some s’mores and follow fire safety protocols.

KEEP WILDLIFE WILD

Protect the region’s 290 animal and 1,000 plant species and observe wildlife from a respectful distance.

STAY EDUCATED
