Inspired by HSY’s vision of the different stages of a woman’s thought process, HSY showcased ‘The Kingdom’. The collection comprised of 4 different Kingdoms and capsules, each depicting a different stage of a women’s life. The show was by far the most dramatic!

house of ka m i a r ro k n i ‘Heritage 2016’, the collection stayed true to The House of Kamiar Rokni’s love for craft, tradition and the timeless classic beauty associated with Pakistani wedding wear. The collection is based in rich fabrics, from heavy velvets to rich, pure silks complemented by tissue, organza net as well as touches of brocade and jamavar. We loved the colour combinations!

SHAMSHA shamsha hashwani Shamsha Hashwani made her bridal ramp debut with her collection titled ‘A Mughal Mirage’. The collection narrates a childhood memory of a beautifully designed, Indian carpet in her parents' house with depictions of the Mughal Dynasty intricately designed on the border. The collection symbolizes the Mughal Dynasty inspired from that carpet and was heavily embellished with zardozi, resham, marori, beadwork, appliqued pearls and Swarovski. It was a strong debut!

zara shahjahan Mehr-un-Nisa, was an ode to the grandeur of some of the most beautiful & resolute maharanis to have emerged from the sub-continent. The collection encapsulated the grandeur of the past and the realities of the present. The collection was styled to perfection with pulled back hair, buns decorated with motia phool, nathni's and stunning jewellery.

It was Zara's best bridal collection to date.

ALI ali xeeshan ‘Khaamoshi’ was the reawakening of hope that one does have the power to speak out.

Primarily made in fabrics such as organza, raw silk & kimkhaab, with a revival of various old school techniques, Ali Xeeshan wowed us with a beautiful theme and a stunning collection.

sania maskatiya ‘August dream’ took us on a journey of roses, romance, castles and kings. We loved the magnificient detailing, making each piece a stunning visual treat.

MAHGUL

MAHGUL With “The Trunks of Sabine” Mahgul created bespoke prints and textures across a monochromatic palette along with linear, layered silhouettes.

We love that even though Mahgul is a new designer, she doesn't play it safe, and experiments with embellishment, silhouettes and structure. It was a fabulous bridal debut.

NOMI nomi ansari ‘Marjaan’ was an intricate story with a kaleidoscope of festivity and colour in this celebration of life. The collection paid tribute to the rich heritage, and craftsmanship of Hyderabad & made a bold statement!

here is a round up of all the interesting moments at plbw 2016.

ali xeeshan's powerful message steals the show Ali Xeeshan’s show started with a powerful video about child marriages, aptly titled Khamoshi. The film by Abdullah Haris depicted a society that is only concerned with superficial celebrations and glittery posturing, turning a blind eye to the bride’s distress and her deafening silence- to the point that she is just as helpless as a monkey, trained to perform theatrics at her master’s bidding. In keeping with the theme, Ali sent down models in stunning outfits carrying stuffed monkeys, while Mahira Khan made a stunning showstopper. Ali Xeeshan is a creative genius who always thinks outside the box and puts on a great show and for that he has our respect. What a fabulous concept, executed to perfection!

hsy starts plbw with a bang HSY sent models down with veils and mouth pieces, signifying a person's fear of showing their true self- How we feel we must cover up what's inside and instead focus on just looking good on the outside. It drew attentiom to how society pressurises us into not speaking out about who we are and instead expects us to conform. The Hocane sisters made superb showstoppers for this dramatic show.
