and said the PM was scared after just one rally. “yesterday, you must have seen on your tv screens a man screaming his defeat,” she said. she went on to remark that the premier was showing fear in his words and actions, and that he should learn how to be graceful from nawaz sharif. “you [PM imran] addressed empty chairs, dug democracy's grave, [and yet] nawaz sharif never took your name. even today, you will long for it but nawaz sharif will not even take your name, because children have no role in the fight between elders,” she said. she replied to the premier's claims of banning PMl-n by saying that nawaz's party was the biggest party of Pakistan, and that it held the will of the masses. she defended the actions of nawaz, including the PMl-n supreme leader's statement that justice shaukat aziz and justice Qazi Faez isa should not be punished for following the law. regarding the way nawaz had been taking shots at state institutions, Maryam said that the PMl-n supremo had only drawn "a line between the institution and characters". Maryam said nawaz was not speaking against the soldiers who laid their lives on the line for this country, but "one or two people" that can "cause heavy losses to that institution." “we cannot respect those who violate their oaths,” said Maryam. “is nawaz wrong in saying that army shouldn’t interfere in politics?” she asked.

Lahore’s Hafeez Centre ablaze under authorities’ firefighting failure LAHORE Shahab Omer

Multiple floors of hafeez centre in lahore were engulfed in flames after a short circuit caused a massive fire to break out in the large plaza on sunday morning. according to police officials, the fire department was called into around 6 am after a fire started on the second floor of the plaza, where mobile and laptop stores were located. it soon spread up to the fourth floor. a number of officials reached the site, including lahore commissioner zulfiqar ghuman, Deputy commissioner (Dc) Mudassir riaz and capital city Police officer (ccPo) umar sheikh. “workers from rescue 1122 and fire department are present at the site and are working on putting out the fire. snorkels are also present and all resources will be utilised,” the ccPo said, adding that so far 25 people had been pulled out of the blaze. when rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene, they first contacted lesco to cut off the main power supply and the power was cut off in 15 to 20 minutes, but within that delay, several shops were affected. 12 fire brigades and 60 rescue officials are carrying out relief activities in the area. reports from the ground suggested that eight fire

Prime Minister imran Khan has said that Pakistan stands with azerbaijan in its quest to resolve nagorno-Karabakh issue as per the united nations security council (unsc) resolutions. in a tweet on sunday, the prime minister also paid tribute to azeri forces valiantly defending their territorial integrity. he also extended felicitation to the president and fraternal people of azerbaijan on their independence Day. separately, the Foreign office (Fo) welcomed the truce agreed between azerbaijan and armenia to prevent a further humanitarian crisis. “this is s a positive development for peace and stability. we hope that the humanitarian conditions agreed upon by the parties would be honoured completely,” Fo spokesperson zahid hafeez chaudhri said in response queries from media person regarding the truce of october 18. the spokesperson said Pak-

brigades ran out of water during the firefighting operation. so far, no causalities have been reported. 30-40 shops were caught in the fire, and eyewitnesses reported seeing shop owners trying to save the expensive electronics by carrying them out. other shop owners wept as the electronic items were reduced to ash in front of them. a large number of citizens and shopkeepers had gathered outside the plaza right after the incident while the traffic police had cordoned off gulberg’s Main Boulevard and a contingent of police was trying to keep the citizens away from the plaza. as the fire intensified, the compressors exploded and caused blasts in hafeez center. the ineffective fire hydrant system installed in Pace shopping plaza adjacent to the centre also did not help. sources said that the fire hydrant system of Pace could not work positively due to lack of repair and maintenance. regarding the incident, sources in the Punjab civil Defense (PcD) Department informed this scribe that due to negligence, most government offices, commercial and high-rise buildings across the province lack proper firefighting equipment, which poses a grave threat to human life and important records.

Global coronavirus cases rise by oneday record of 400,000 istan believed that sustainable peace between the two parties would depend on the complete and comprehensive implementation of the united nations security council (unsc) resolutions and withdrawal of armenian forces from azerbaijani territories. “Pakistan stands with the brotherly nation of azerbaijan in its quest to resolve the nagorno-Karabakh issue in line with the several resolutions of the united nations security

council,” he said. armenia and azerbaijan said they had agreed on saturday to a new humanitarian ceasefire from midnight (2000 gMt) in fighting over azerbaijan’s ethnic armenian-controlled enclave of nagorno-Karabakh. Both sides had accused each other earlier of fresh attacks in violation of a week-old russian-brokered truce that had failed to halt the worst fighting in the south caucasus since the 1990s.
