often full of fierce competition,” Xi said in an apparent reference to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s “America First” policy. Xi renewed a call to work towards “building a community with a shared future for mankind” and said any country that engages in “technology blockades” and “developmental decoupling” should be rejected. Xi said the judgment on whether a country is democratic or not should be made by its people, not by a handful of others. There are different pathways toward well-being, and people of all countries are entitled to choose their own development path and institutional models, he stressed. Xi called on political parties worldwide to oppose the practice of politicizing the COVID-19 pandemic or attaching a geographical label to the virus. “In the face of the ongoing COVID-19, we need to continue with a science-based response approach and advocate solidarity and cooperation so as to close the ‘immunization gap,'” he told the summit. PAKISTAN SUPPORTS CHINA’S EFFORTS TO SAFEGUARD WORLD PEACE, SAYS PM KHAN: Prime Minister Imran Khan extended full support to Xi’s efforts for global peace and said that Pakistan supports China’s efforts to safeguard world peace, contribute to global development, and preserve international order. “Pakistan supports China’s efforts to safeguard world peace, contribute to global development, and preserve international order. On behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan, I would like to convey our heartfelt felicitations to His excellency President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people on the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China,” he said and added that the founding of the CPC in 1921 was a seminal event in world history.

Govt recommends referring domestic violence bill to Council of Islamic Ideology IsLAMABAD Staff RepoRt

The government has requested National Speaker Asad Qaiser to sent the much-delayed proposed legislation on domestic violence to the Council of Islamic Ideology to seek its advice as it believes that the matter involves the interpretation of Islamic injunctions. Adviser to the Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan has written a letter to Qaiser, seeking a review of the Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2021, by the body. The proposal, presented by Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari in July last year, was adopted by the House in April this year. The bill was then referred to the Senate, where the opposition had defeated the government by one vote to block the immediate passage of the proposed law, insisting that the bill be referred to the relevant standing committee for further deliberation. At the time, PPP’s Yousuf Raza Gilani, the leader of opposition in the Senate, had argued that while the bill was important

the full spectrum threat required a “comprehensive national response”. “Balochistan is in sharp focus of national leadership and army is fully engaged in enabling national and provincial response in synergy with other institutions of the state. We are a resilient nation that has endured the tests of time on its path to achieving peace and stability,” said Gen Bajwa. The ISPR said that the workshop was attended by a large number of parliamentarians, bureaucrats, civil society members, youth, academia and media representatives. It added that the workshop is held to enable the future leadership of the province to understand “vital national and provincial issues” and mount a “cohesive response” to those challenges. Separately, Ambassador of Azerbaijan Ali Alizada on Tuesday paid a farewell call to COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa here at General Headquarters.

legislation that had taken months to be cleared from the NA, it needed to be referred to the standing committee. A voice vote was then suggested to decide on the matter and when the opposition had defeated the government by 35-34, the Senate chairperson had directed the then yet-to-be-formed committee to present its report to the House on the matter two days after its formation. The legislation aimed to “establish an effective system of protection, relief and rehabilitation of women, children, elders and any vulnerable persons against domestic violence”,

Mazari said at the time. In the letter dated July 5, Awan pointed out that the bill was passed by the National Assembly in April but was referred back to the House after the Senate suggested amendments to it. The letter further stated that concerns have been raised “regarding various definitions and other contents of the bill”. “Most importantly it is being highlighted that the bill contravenes the Islamic [injunctions] and way of life as enshrined in the responsibility of the state in Article 31 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan,” it read.
