IndIa's reckless behavIour, false flag operatIon to evoke befIttIng response: pM

ISLAMABAD STAFF REPORT

p

rIME Minister Imran Khan on Sunday once again reminded the international community of India's continuous and reckless behaviour, reiterating that if India conducted a false flag operation against Pakistan, it would confront a strong national resolve with a befitting response at all levels. India's deliberate firing at Line of Control (LoC) on United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) vehicle, despite the vehicle having clear mark-

ings and flying blue UN flag, showed India's total disregard for all international norms of acceptable state behaviour and respect for international law and the UN, the PM said on popular micro-blogging site, Twitter. "In complete violation of int law, India's delib firing at LoC on UNMOGIP vehicle, despite clear UN markings & flying blue UN flag, shows India's total disregard for all int norms of acceptable state behaviour & respect for int law & UN. Pak strongly condemns this rogue behaviour," he posted. In series of tweets, he said: "I am making absolutely clear to the int community that if India was to be reckless enough to conduct

a false flag operation against Pakistan, it would confront a strong national Pakistani resolve & be given a befitting response at all levels of the threat. Make no mistake." He further said: "Already, in 2020 alone, there have been 3000 Indian ceasefire violations along the LoC & Working Boundary, by unprovoked firing deliberately targeting civilians - resulting in 276 casualties, of which 92 were women & 68 children." Earlier this week, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said that after the exposure of fake Indian NGOs by Brusselsbased DisinfoLabs, India had begun planning a surgical strike against Pakistan to divert attention away from its internal affairs. In this regard, he had urged the international community to play their part in obtaining a peaceful solution between the two nuclear neighbours, stating that Pakistan “is fully prepared to respond and defeat their designs” and would “respond immediately and effectively”. “An important development has cropped up […] I’ve learned through our intelligence forces […] that India is planning a surgical strike against Pakistan,” Qureshi had said, adding that India was trying to obtain “tacit approval” from “important players”. FM Qureshi had added that India was engaging in these tactics to divert attention from “serious internal issues” – namely, the deteriorating human rights situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and the recent farmers’ protest in India. “India may at any time repeat a Pulwama-like drama to divert attention from the internal problems and was planning an action along the LoC and Working Boundary,” he had said while addressing a press conference in Abu Dhabi, adding that India's mishandling of the Covid pandemic was well-known. The Pakistan Army had been put on high alert amidst a possible threat of another attempt by India to conduct a surgical strike inside Pakistani territory.

UAE says visa suspension for Pakistan 'temporary' ISLAMABAD STAFF REPORT

United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed has said that the decision to stop issuing visas to Pakistani citizens was only temporary, affirming that brotherly ties between Islamabad and Abu Dhabi continued to strengthen over the past decades. He stressed "the temporary nature of the recent restrictions imposed on the issuance of visas due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic". However, it is important to mention that while Pakistan has been facing an increasing number of daily cases recently, the UAE's monthold decision on barring visas to Pakistan and 11 other Muslim countries did not including some countries with higher positivity rates than Pakistan. In a statement issued by the UAE foreign ministry following the conclusion of the two-day visit of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the prince stressed the depth of bilateral relations and recalled the keenness of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the Emirates, on the relations during the early stages of establishment.

Appear before Senate or face arrest warrants, Mandviwalla warns NAB chief ISLAMABAD STAFF REPORT

Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla has reiterated that the head of the antigraft body must appear before the Senate to answer questions regarding the accountability of the alleged illegal actions taken by the watchdog, adding that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal will be issued summon warrants if need be. The above was said while addressing a press conference in Lahore on Sunday, wherein the deputy chairman of the upper house said that it was the lack of actions by the political parties in leaving the NAB ordinance unamended which led to this situation. He said that as the ordnance had not been changed to limit NAB’s powers to government and public corruption, the watchdog had started intervening in every institution of the country. “The government held several meetings with the Opposition regarding the matter of NAB’s ordinance but they could not come to an agreement,” Mandviwalla said.

“The close relations between the UAE and Pakistan have continued to strengthen over the past decades, and translated into multi-faceted cooperation, which represents a unique case in Arab-Asian relations in the region, as political relations between the UAE and Pakistan are based on a long history of joint action, trust, and respect,” the foreign minister said. The mutual interests and visions of the two countries converged on issues of regional and international importance through the principles of tolerance, inclusiveness and an agenda based on development to ensure peace and stability in the region, he said. The discussion between the two foreign ministers encompassed ways to further enhance and strengthen joint cooperation in various fields, consistent with the directives of the leadership of the two countries. Both sides discussed the challenges and repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, economic and investment issues of mutual interest, and prospects for further joint cooperation to achieve the aspirations of the two friendly countries and people.

STORY ON PAGE 03 “As a result, the ordinance lapsed and NAB was given a chance to intervene in every institution of the country, including private businesses and bureaucracy.” “The Senate has received a long list of complaints from businessmen in the United States and Canada, who said that they had to leave the country because NAB harassed them,” he added. “We must pass a law that whenever an allegation is levelled against a parliamentarian, they will be held accountable by the parliament,” he added. Mandviwalla said all of the

hearings of the Senate committee that will take up the issue will be transparent and will be held before the media in which all of NAB’s alleged wrongdoings will be discussed including “fake degrees, fake domiciles and assets beyond means” of the bureau’s officials. In response to a question, Mandviwalla further alleged that all government departments including the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Anti-Corruption Establishment were “following NAB’s directions” and had lost their independence.
