HE military Sunday warned politicians, journalists and analysts against dragging Pakistan Army and its leadership in the country’s political affairs, saying that the practice is “extremely damaging”. “Recently there have been intensified and deliberate attempts to drag

Pakistan’s Armed Forces and their leadership in ongoing political discourse in the country,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Sunday. “These attempts are manifest through direct, insinuated or nuanced references to Armed Forces as well as their senior leadership, made by some political leaders, few journalists and analysts on public forums and various communication

platforms including social media.” The military ’s media wing further said that this practice of unsubstantiated, defamatory and provocative statements /remarks is extremely damaging. “Pakistan Armed Forces take strong exception to such unlawful and unethical practice and expect all to abide by the law and keep the Armed Forces out of political discourse in the best interest of the country,” it added. The statement comes in the wake of Federal Investigation Agency ’s (FIA) crackdown against those allegedly involved in running online campaigns to defame the military and its top leadership. The agency has also initiated an inquiry against an anchorperson of a private TV channel for allegedly transmitting ‘anti-state’ videos and statements on various social media platforms. At a recent public gathering, PMLN Vice President Maryam Nawaz said that former prime minister Imran Khan only lasted in office for over three years as he had the support of a former intelligence officer. “When the government lost his support, it fell instantly.” On Thursday, former PM and PTI Chairman Imran said he could not even think of appointing an army chief against the rules of merit and rubbished speculations that he wanted former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director general Lt Gen Faiz Hameed to be appointed to that post.

PM Shehbaz vows legal action against Imran’s ‘anti-state’ speech at Abbottabad rally ISLAMABAD NewS DeSk

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has termed Imran Khan’s address at Abbottabad rally a ‘grand conspiracy against Pakistan’. In a statement, the Prime Minister said those concocting a narrative against national institutions were the real Mir Jaffar and Mir Sadiq. He said the state of Pakistan, constitution of Pakistan, and the respected institutions of Pakistan were challenged by Imran Khan in Abbottabad on Sunday. He assured that legal action would be taken. Shehbaz said what Imran was doing could only be categorized as conspiracy, not politics and this conspiracy was not against any political rivals but against the country. “Pakistan cannot be surrendered and compromised over one person’s ego, arrogance, and blatant lies. FIA warns expats against arrests through Interpol for ‘seditious’ social media posts ISLAMABAD Staff RepoRt

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has warned all expatriates of Pakistani origin that their names can be put on the Exit Control List (ECL) if they put up “offensive and seditious” social media posts that may lead to chaos in Pakistan. “All Pakistani origin expatriates living outside Pakistan are advised to desist from spreading chaos in Pakistan while staying abroad. Their social media posts must not be offensive and seditious,” the FIA spokesperson said in a statement. The agency directed the expatriates to read the “Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (PECA)” to make sure that their social media posts “do not constitute any offence”. “If they commit any offence, Red Notices through INTERPOL can be issued against them for their arrest. Their names can be put on Exit Control List. They need to avoid commission of any electronic offences,” said the FIA. It added that its advice was “only for offenders” and law-abiding persons should not worry about it. “Any attempts by anyone staying anywhere in the world to create disturbance in Pakistan or to defame dignity of a natural person or to act

first conspired to destroy economy of the country and was now planning to trigger civil-war in Pakistan”, he said. The PM pledged that these nefarious designs of Imran would be crushed at all cost. “Imran is this era’s Mir Jaffar and Mir Sadiq who wanted Pakistan to face the same fate as Libya and Iraq,” he added. He said Imran incidentally also has a fake certificate of Sadiq, like Mir Sadiq, he said. He went on to say that Imran was digging holes in the very boat he is riding and biting the hand that feeds him. “The people of Pakistan, the constitution, and the institutions of Pakistan are not slaves of Imran Niazi, nor could he hold them hostage,” he lambasted. He slammed Niazi’s speech and said Imran would not be allowed to become the Hitler of Pakistan. Imran had lied to the nation all this time, its about time he faces the truth, he concluded.
