Since Padua opened its doors over sixty years ago, our “school with a soul” has always demonstrated a love for learning. Students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators demonstrate a passion for the mission—and the viability of the mission is apparent through its expression in the daily life of the school. We believe that Padua is not only a place of high learning, but that it also offers an opportunity to encourage Christ-centered leadership, civic and social responsibility, and critical thinking in pursuit of the truth.

At Padua we are committed to actively living our mission of forming students who love, learn, and live their faith in service to others. On behalf of the faculty, staff and administrators, we thank you for walking this mission with us. There is no greater pleasure than to serve the students and families of Padua Academy. We are blessed beyond measure by the prayers, service, and philanthropy of so many supporters who allow our school to thrive and our students to soar in their formation and academic development.

With our world continually changing, it is critical that we continue to prepare our students to be the difference makers in the world of tomorrow. Through the generosity of our supporters, Padua has had the ability to implement dynamic new course offerings and programs that were only dreams a few years ago. Coupled with a rich spiritual foundation, and a highly credentialed and innovative faculty and staff, we give our students an advantage as they work together to prepare for life beyond Padua.

Women’s Achievement PADUA ACADEMY DINNER IN HONOR OF

Alison Levine: “Keep Climbing” On April 14, Alison Levine— American mountain climber, sportswoman, explorer, leadership expert, and New York Times bestselling author—captivated over 400 guests at the Chase Center on the Riverfront as she was honored at the seventh annual Padua Academy Dinner in Honor of Women’s Achievement.

Alison has climbed the highest mountain on every continent and led the first expedition team of American women up Mount Everest. During her talk at the dinner, “She took time to bring you inside her history-making adventure in a way that made you feel like you were there,” noted one guest. Alison talked about the rapid changes that can occur on the ascent of Mount Everest and emphasized that “plans are outdated as soon as they are

finished, and one has to make the best decision they can in that moment.”

She went on to say, “If the conditions are not right, you turn around, cut your losses, and walk away [because] getting to the top is optional, but getting down is mandatory.”

Alison visited Padua Academy the next morning for a special presentation with the entire student body. There she shared some of the same leadership lessons and insights she teaches to students at West Point and Duke University. Alison told the students that you have the “freedom to fail as long as you learn from it.” She talked about how she was disappointed that she did not get to the top of Mount Everest on her first attempt, but she still learned from the experience. When one student asked

her how you come back from failure, Alison said, “Because of my previous failure, I knew a heck of a lot more about my pain threshold and my risk tolerance. The only reason I made it up in 2010—when most people turned back—was because I had that failed experience in 2002.”

Alison stayed after her talk to meet and take pictures with students and faculty. Padua, and its social media outlets, were abuzz for days amplifying the impact of Alison’s message on the Padua community.

Alison continues to be in touch with Padua Academy and hopes that young women will continue to be bold and resilient in their roles as leaders and innovators. As Alison reminds us, no matter what life throws at us just, “Keep Climbing!”

Tribute and memorial gifts may be made to Padua Academy at any time. Much like a Mass card, a gift may be in memory of a deceased loved one or in honor of a special person or occasion. Gifts made to the Annual Fund support the academic, spiritual, and co-curricular programs benefiting our young women. Gifts may also be contributed to our Scholarship Endowment Fund, which provides tuition assistance for young women to attend Padua Academy. Depending upon the wishes of the family and the value of the gifts, a named and endowed fund can be established. With the approval of the administration and board of trustees, a fund can be established to support a special, one-time project or program. The society enrolls individuals, companies, and foundations who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and generous commitment to Padua Academy. Since its founding, the Leadership Society has had a significant impact on Padua’s Annual Fund, ensuring the financial health of the school. On April 27, 2017, Padua Academy will honor Peggy Noonan at the eighth annual Dinner in Honor of Women’s Achievement at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.

Peggy Noonan served as President Ronald Reagan’s speechwriter from 1984 to 1986 and wrote his address to the nation after the Challenger explosion. In 1988, she was chief speechwriter for George H.W. Bush’s presidential bid, during which she coined the phrases “a kinder, gentler nation,” “a thousand points of light,” and “read my lips: no new taxes.” Noonan has also worked as a consultant on the American television drama The West Wing and currently serves on the board of trustees of the Manhattan Institute.

A prolific journalist, Noonan is a weekly columnist for The Wall Street

Journal, as well as being a political commentator for ABC News. She is the New York Times bestselling author of seven books on American politics, including John Paul The Great: Remembering a Spiritual Father; When Character Was King: A Story of Ronald Reagan; Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness; What I Saw at the Revolution: A Political Life in the Reagan Era; Simply Speaking: How to Communicate Your Ideas With Style, Substance, and Clarity; Patriotic Grace: What It Is and Why We Need It Now; and her most recent, Time of Our Lives.
