The award is presented each year to an outstanding individual for contributions in elevating the level of humanity in our society. That certainly describes Sweeney, who has worked tirelessly at Homeward Bound for 21 years to provide shelter and support services for homeless families and adults. During the last 14 years, Sweeney has led the organization and developed three new housing and job training facilities in Novato. We wonder if Branson headmaster Thomas Price, 54, who was arrested last week on felony drug charges, misunderstood the passion concept. Police allegedly found Price, known as “Woody,” in a hotel room outside Sacramento with a 21-year-old woman passed out on a bed and a cache of drugs suspected to be cocaine, heroin and enough meth to warrant a charge of possession for sale. Reportedly, Woody, who earned close to $500,000 annually as headmaster, posted his $75,000 bail quickly, but his young friend was still in jail last time we checked.
