Mark A. Piper is a graduate of Harvard College, Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Vanderbilt Medical School. He completed residency training in General Surgery and Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery at Vanderbilt University. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery and a member of 20 professional medical and dental organizations. Speaker Host: Dr. Caroline Cesar

Topics include objective evidence of foundational abnormalities that contribute to occlusal instability. Emphasis is placed on clinical examples of various occlusal therapy failures. Child and adult patients used to illustrate the role of joint injuries in lifelong skeletal and occlusal drifting. Michele Williams is a member of the BC Oral Cancer Prevention Program, the BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Faculty of Dentistry. Her interests are in research, education and care related to oral mucosal disease with particular emphasis on oral premalignant disease, oral cancer and the oral manifestations of cancer therapies. She also conducts a private referral practice in oral medicine.

This presentation details the role of HPV in oral cancers and its clinical and public health implications. Learn about the evidence linking HPV infection and oral cancer. From legal advice on associate agreements, determining your practice ‘fit’, required patient communication skills and managing staff - this half day course will get you on the right track. This course is targeted to dentists graduating 2008 and later. ++ CE credits will not be awarded by the Alberta Dental Association and College for this course.
