Working Professional by Day, Professional Cookier by Night

Alexa Benz | Regional Manager // Midwest Region | Employed at PDS: 6 years

In perfect conjunction with her upbeat, positive personality, Alexa Benz, regional manager (RM) in the Midwest region, beams joy in all that she does. Avidly watching baking shows and YouTube tutorials quickly evolved into earning a profit from a passion she loves. Alexa established her own bakery business, Bright Batch Bakery, in 2020.

“I wanted to offer something that would bring joy to people and be the bright spot in their day,” she says. A mom of 17-month-old triplets, Alexa appears to be on her way to a full baking staff. “I can’t wait for Christmas this year. Though they’ll probably make more of a mess, I’m excited to try and make sugar cookies with them.”

Persistence and patience are the two lessons that Alexa has taken away from baking and has applied to her work as an RM. “Baking and managing people are both art forms in their own right,” Alexa said. “You learn by trial and error and you’re going to make mistakes. The key is to learn from them and not repeat the same mistakes.”

Luckily for the Midwest region, Alexa’s team members and clinicians have been her taste testers (clearly not by force). From mastering recipes ranging from sugar cookies, to fudge, to cakes, we asked Alexa’s recipe to balancing her many life roles. “It took time to navigate, but it’s all about time management. It’s about being intentional with your planning and time. Make sure that you’re setting time aside for things and the people that are valuable to you.”
