To us, members of the Programa Educación y Memoria, “Collective Memory” is not a synonym of past time but the founding stone of a constantly evolving present time. It is for this reason that we bring you a new book with the life stories of those who walked with us and delivered unforgettable talks at schools for 10 years.
It is the Abuelas, Madres, and Nietas y Nietos, who opened their hearts in front of students of all ages during pedagogical experiences. These meetings complemented what these students had learnt in class with the actual words and presence of leading representatives of Human Rights.
Identity. A Pedagogy of Collective Memory brings us the written recounts of these encounters, which were of immense testimonial value and of enormous emotional impact. This book follows the path opened in 2012 by Stories through an update of already published chapters plus the addition of new ones that include Nietos whose identities were restored.
