Class Project- Urbino city digital model & Palazzo Ducale digital model designed across entire studio.
In Collaboration with: Hayden Akana Carlos Hinojosa Emily Henninger
In the Northern Region of Marche, Italy lies a small town called Urbino, such town holds home to one of the oldest Renaissance castles which dates back to the 15th century. This castle was once home to the Federico Da Montefeltro.
The basement which was once the Duke's stable, was remodeled to host an exhibition space, and thus with the intention of blending the new and old, a digital exhibition space composed of fabric and digital projectors was proposed.
With the very specific intention of preserving the historic structure, the idea of modular design will allow for a transformable and unprecedented visual experience unlike a traditional museum. Offering multiple layouts and ever changing art.

As the University of Texas at San Antonio continues to grow, so does the t need for new facilities at the University, over the years the university has seen tremendous growth in all sectors of education, specifically those involved with the downtown campus of the University, allocating the need of more University facilities, those including; student focused facilities.
As of today, there is no student facilities in the downtown campus of the University, only various facilities focused on the educational aspect of the University, therefore lacking the need to provide students that are allocated in the downtown campus with the University and college experience.
Therefore the need for a building to provide, social clubs, gathering spaces, print shops, study spaces and other recreational spaces come in to place.
The focus of this project was precisely as such mentioned, to provide these facilities to students in the downtown campus of UTSA, as well as including spaces which can be of more interest to individuals of the San Antonio downtown community that are not students of the University such as a food court and a public skate park for members of the skating community in San Antonio to partake in, as well as inviting students to explore a new hobby.
In the Southern Region of San Antonio, Texas, lies Mitchell Lake and the Audubon center for migrating wildlife. The lake happens to offer enormous possibilities in view and opportunity for individuals to reconnect whit their surroundings in a time where the world become locked inside.
The aim of this project is to create the unique experience of being in a space that is neither fully enclosed, nor fully open. This creates a blurred line between where the user finds himself being inside or outside.
Since the purpose of this project aims to invite the users to be outdoors in the beautiful landscape and experience the beautiful wildlife, the Architecture aims to take an advantage of such opportunity in numerous ways by creating experiences that are inviting of the environment and surroundings of the wildlife.
The visitor facilities consisted of: Main Visitor Center, Bird Blind (structure in which users can view wildlife without disturbing it), and an Education Center
The bird blind was designed to keep in mind the limited visual that birds should have on individuals as they go bird watching around Mitchell Lake. The bird blinds provide peek holes where individuals can peek into to look out while remain hidden from bird’s immediate eyesight to avoid disturbing them.
From the other side of the bird blind the view is open and fenced to avoid the possibility of falling whilst in the space, additionally, the roof is partially enclosed and covered with a mesh to allow for flow of air into the space as well as more sightseeing possibilities.
Outpost 1 sits next to the exisisting open air pavillion which directly branches into the area as well as the existing space. Outpost 1 combines the space of being outdoors and indoors as per program requirement, but more importantly. Outpost 1 has a multipurpose room, a kitchen, an interior shed, and storage spaces for events and gatherings at the Outpost.

The education center serves as a space where individuals who are visiting Mitchell Lake can find more information about the environment, the wildlife and what the Place has to offer for those unfamiliar with their surroundings.
Conveniently located in the entrance of the site the Education Center will attract individuals for a quick look before heading further in, to the experience of the site.
