ώς προέκυψε η συνεργασία με τη Nomi Ruiz; Πώς θα περιέγραφες την συνύπαρξή σας, σε καλλιτεχνικό αλλά και σε ανθρώπινο επίπεδο; Τη Nomi Ruiz τη γνώρισα προσωπικά σε μια συναυλία μου στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Καλλιτεχνικά την ήξερα ως Jessica 6 αλλά και ως front woman των Hercules and the Love Affair, και την εκτιμούσα ήδη πάρα πολύ. Θεωρώ ότι έχει εκπληκτική φωνή. Είχα λοιπόν τότε ένα κομμάτι το οποίο δούλευα (το “Fist”) και σκέφτηκα ότι θα ήταν πολύ ενδιαφέρον να δοκιμάζαμε να συνεργαστούμε, οπότε και το κάναμε! Στην πορεία προέκυψε και το “Love is Gone”. Με ποια άλλα ονόματα θα ήθελες να συνεργαστείς; Ετοιμάζεις κάτι αντίστοιχο αυτή την περίοδο; Πρόσφατα συνεργάστηκα με τον Thodori Triantafillou, ετοιμάσαμε ένα house track για το άλμπουμ του που κυκλοφόρησε στις 21 Μαΐου. Και τώρα, ετοιμάζω remix της νέας κυκλοφορίας μου με τη Nomi στο “Love is Gone” και στο “Fist”, ενώ σύντομα ολοκληρώνω κι ένα άλμπουμ με γαλλικές διασκευές παράλληλα με νέα κομμάτια. Έχεις πετύχει κάποιους από τους στόχους που έθεσες όταν ξεκινούσες την καριέρα σου; Σίγουρα. Το ότι έχω ολοκληρώσει και κυκλοφορήσει δύο προσωπικά άλμπουμ με κάνει πολύ χαρούμενη. Όπως και οι συμμετοχές τραγουδιών μου σε ταινίες, οι συναυλίες αλλά και οι συνεργασίες με καλλιτέχνες που εκτιμώ πολύ ! Πού εντοπίζεις τα προβλήματα της σύγχρονης ελληνικής μουσικής; Ποια είναι η θέση της ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής στη χώρα μας και ποιες οι διαφορές με τη Γαλλία; Είμαι αισιόδοξη, ανακαλύπτω συνεχώς ενδιαφέροντα πράγματα εδώ, και στην ηλεκτρονική αλλά και στην εναλλακτική σκηνή. Σίγουρα βέβαια, οι δισκογραφικές εταιρείες θα μπορούσαν να προσπαθούν περισσότερο γι’ αυτά, ώστε να μη μένουν μόνο στην εγχώρια αισθητική και κατανάλωση. Ποιοι είναι οι επόμενοι στόχοι σου; Να συνεχίσω να γράφω μουσική. Κι ένα επόμενο άλμπουμ.
When Olga Kouklaki was young, she used to play the piano. However, electronic music was the genre that finally won her over. Sharing her time between France and Greece, her life consist of music, concerts and collaborations with renowned artists. We spoke with her on account of her collaboration with Nomi Ruiz, the frontwoman of Hercules&LoveAffairand Jessica 6.

ow did the collaboration with Nomi Ruiz come about and how would you describe it on an artistic and a human level? I met Nomi Ruiz at one of my concerts in Thessaloniki. Before meeting her in person, I knew her as thefront woman of Hercules & Love Affair and Jessica 6 and admired her very much. I think she has an amazing voice. At that time I was working on a piece (“FIST”) and I thought that it would be very interesting to work together, and so we did! “Love is Gone’’ occurred along the way.
With which other artists would you like to work with? Are you preparing something similar at the moment? I recently collaborated with Thodoris Triantafillou- we finished a house track for his album that will be released on May 21st. At the moment, I’m working on a remix of our newly released tracks with Nomi, “Love is Gone” and “Fist”. I am also about to complete an album that containssome covers of French songs and some new tracks. Have you achieved any of the goals you set when you first started off your career? Definitely. The fact that I have completed and released two personal albums, makes me extremely happy. I am also very proud of having some of my songs featured in films, and of all of my concerts and collaborations with artists that I respect immensely! Where do you think the problem lies when it comes to contemporary Greek music? What’s the status of electronic music in Greece and how different is it from France? I am very optimistic. I’m always discovering interesting things here concerning the electronic music scene, as well as the alternative music scene. Of course, the record labels could try harder to promote it abroad and not only within Greece. What are your next goals? To continue writing music and to release a new album. olgakouklaki.com

Όταν ήταν μικρή, η Όλγα Κουκλάκη έπαιζε πιάνο. Κι όμως, η σκηνή που την κέρδισε είναι αυτή της ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής.
