Την ώρα που η μόδα πλήττεται από την αλλόγιστη αντιγραφή εκείνου που θεωρείται εμπορικό και προσοδοφόρο, έρχονται δημιουργοί, που με τη φρέσκια τους ματιά, προσδίδουν μια νέα πνοή, εισάγοντας καινούριους και πολύπλοκους κανόνες. Their collections are subversive, highly technical and use refined and unique materials to create one of a kind pieces. You could say that they bring together art and modern architecture. www.catpotter.com Τα υποδήματα της αποπνέουν μαεστρία, αρμονία και άριστοτεχνική δομή. Η ελβετικής καταγωγής Cat Potter, κατάφερε να «εξευγενίσει» ένα από τα αρχαιότερα υλικά, το ξύλο με τη βοήθεια μοντέρνων τεχνικών. Συνδυάζοντάς το με ποικίλα μέταλλα και εμπλουτίζοντάς το με δερμάτινα στοιχεία δημιουργεί ιδιαίτερα και περίτεχνα κομμάτια -κράμμα επιτειδευμένου design και υψηλής αισθητικής. Ιντρίγκαρε με τις δημιουργίες της τον κολοσσό Jimmy Choo, όταν παρουσίασε το 2012 την συλλογή για την αποφοίτησή της από το Fashion Cordwainer’s College στο Λονδίνο, ο οποίος στη συνέχεια τη βράβευσε με το the MA Final Collection Award for Excellence.
Η εν λόγω σχεδιάστρια αποποιήθηκε την κινέζικη κληρονομιά της για να εστερνιστεί το μεγαλείο του Christobal Balenciaga. Τα ρούχα της, αν και διακρίνονται για τις παστέλ αποχρώσεις και την απαράμιλλη κομψότητα, χαρακτηρίζονταί επίσης από την έντονη αρχιτεκτόνική τους δομή, τον όγκο και την ελάχιστη υπερβολή. Απόφοιτος του Royal College of Art, διακρίθηκε στο International Talent Support Awards, όπου και έκανε την παρθενική της εμφάνιση κερδίζοντας το Diesel Award, τόσο για τον ιδιαίτερο συνδυασμό υλικών –όλα τα σύνολα δημιουργήθηκαν από την μίξη σιλικόνης και ραφιναρισμένου μάλλινου υφάσματος- όσο και για την μαεστρία που επέδειξε.
Her shoes exude mastery, harmony and architectural structure. Swiss born Cat Potter, managed to ennoble wood, one of the most ancient of materials, with the help of modern techniques. Combining various metals and enriching them with leather elements, she creates elaborate items. Her creations, intrigued none other than Jimmy Choo, when she presented her graduation collection at Fashion Cordwainer’s College in London, who went on to award her the MA Final Collection Award for Excellence
This designer turned her back on her Chinese heritage, in order to embrace the grandeur of Christobal Balenciaga. Her clothes, although noted for their pastel shades and peerless elegance, also stand out through their vivid architectural structure, their volume and their lack of pointless overstatement. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, she stood out in the International Talent Support Awards, where she made her first appearance and received the Diesel Award, for her unique combination of materials – all her pieces were created out of combining silicone with refined woolen fabrics – and her unparalleled mastery of her craft.
