Χρειαζόμαστε περισσότερο χρόνο, αυτό σκέφτομαι εγκλωβισμένος μέσα στο ταξί. Χρόνο για να δημιουργήσουμε, χρόνο για να ενθουσιαστούμε, χρόνο για να αγαπήσουμε, χρόνο για να ξεκουραστούμε και πάλι από την αρχή. Εχει ήδη περάσει μισή ώρα και οι δρόμοι είναι μπλοκαρισμένοι. Σκέφτομαι να πληρώσω τον ταξιτζή και να φτάσω στον προορισμό μου περπατώντας. Το αποφασίζω σε κλάσματα δευτερολέπτου, ανοίγω την πόρτα και βαδίζω παράλληλα με τον Βόσπορο. Η μυρωδιά από τις εξατμίσεις των αυτοκινήτων, το πέταγμα των γλάρων

δίπλα μου, υγρασία. Κάθομαι στο πρώτο καφέ που βρίσκω. Παρατηρώ τους υπόλοιπους θαμώνες, άγνωστος εγώ μεταξύ αγνώστων. Μετράω κάθε βλέμμα τους, κάθε κίνησή τους. Δεν μας συνδέει τίποτα παρά μόνο το ότι βρισκόμαστε στο ίδιο μέρος. Σκέφτομαι: αν αποφασίζαμε όλοι μαζί να σταματήσουμε το χρόνο, να τον επιταχύνουμε ή να τον διπλασιάσουμε, θα το κάναμε τελικά; Δεν είμαι σίγουρος. Κοιτάζω έξω από το παράθυρο και χαζεύω τα καραβάκια που πηγαινοέρχονται Ασία-Ευρώπη. Δεν επιθυμώ τίποτα. Είναι τα γενέθλιά μου.

un forget table Εγω θυμαμαι τη συναυλια του 1993 στο γηπεδο της αεκ γιατι γι’ αυτην τη συναυλια μου ειχε παρει εισιτηρια ο πατερας μου, ετσι απροσμενα και αναπαντεχα χωρις να το εχω ζητησει, χωρις να ειμαι δηλωμενη φαν. Εκει ειδα σολο τον sting. Καποιοι ομως θα τον θυμουνται απο τη συναυλια των police στο γήπεδο του Σπορτινγκ, το 1980, την πρωτη μεγαλη συναυλια που εγινε στην ελλαδα μετα τη χουντα. Αναμφισβητητα μεγαλο γεγονος το οποιο εληξε οταν αρχισαν να εκσφεδονιζονται μπουκαλια. Και υστερα τι; Υστερα οι θεατες πηγαν σπιτι τους και οι police γυρισαν στο Λονδινο για να βγαλουν αλλα δυο αλμπουμ, με τελευταιο το «synchronicity», το οποιο εμπεριειχε και τη μεγαλυτερη τους επιτυχια , το «every breath you take». Αχ, αυτό το «Every breath you take», που από το 1983 που κυκλοφόρησε μέχρι σήμερα, έχει κερδίσει 2 Grammy, έχει εξασφαλίσει την υστεροφημία του και σίγουρα πρέπει να βρίσκεται στην κορυφή των προτιμήσεων των υποψήφιων μελλόνυμφων για τον πρώτο χορό στη δεξίωση του γάμου τους. Τι περίεργο αφού δεν έχει το σύνηθες τέλος του «ζήσαν αυτοί καλά (κι εμείς καλύτερα)». Ο ίδιος ο Sting είχε θελήσει να «σκίσει» αυτό το ρομαντικό πέπλο που επισκιάζει το πραγματικό νόημα των στίχων του τραγουδιού. Άλλωστε και στο ασπρόμαυρο βίντεοκλιπ, τόσο ο Sting όσο και οι άλλοι δύο «Policeμάνοι» - Andy Summers (κιθάρα) και Stewart Copeland (drums)- μοιάζουν περισσότερο θυμωμένοι πάρα ουράνια ευτυχισμένοι. Μιλάει για κάποιον που μοιάζει να έχει μείνει πίσω, κάποιον που ίσως δεν υπήρξε ποτέ πρωταγωνιστής στη ζωή αυτού που παρακολουθεί. Μιλάει για ζήλεια και για εμμονή, κάτι που λίγο πολύ όλοι έχουμε νιώσει σε διαφορετικό βαθμό ανάλογα με τις αντοχές, την υπομονή και την αξιοπρέπειά μας. Άραγε, μετά από πόσες ανάσες βαριέται κάποιος; Μέχρι πότε κάποιος μπορεί να παρακολουθεί τον άλλον, να μην μπορεί να τον αντικαταστήσει, να υποφέρει για κάθε δέσμο που σπάει; Η σχέση των Police άντεξε από το 1977 μέχρι και το 1986. Επανενώθηκαν το 2007 για ένα χρόνο για τις ανάγκες της παγκόσμιας περιοδείας τους και με αυτήν έκλεισε άλλος ένας κύκλος της κοινής τους ζωής. Σήμερα ο Sting είναι πατέρας 6 παιδιών, ασχολείται με τη γιόγκα, για τους άλλους δύο δεν γνωρίζω. Εγώ –από την άλλη- αγοράζω πλέον μόνη μου τα εισιτήρια για τις συναυλίες που πηγαίνω και μετράω τις δικές μου ανάσες τις οποίες άλλοτε επιβραδύνω, άλλοτε επιταχύνω... nataσΣα παπαχρηστου

and one which was unfortunately marred by people throwing bottles and causing trouble.

So then what happened? Well, people went home and the Police went back to London to record another two albums, the last one of which was “Synchronicity” which included their standout hit “Every breath you take”.

Oh, that song. “Every breath you take” came out in 1983 and after winning two Grammy awards, established its name and remains a wedding favorite everywhere.

Sting himself, wanted to tear apart the romantic veil that covered up the true nature of the song’s lyrics. In the video for the song itself, Sting and his other two band members, Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums), look angry rather than happy and serene.

The song talks about someone left behind, that perhaps never had the starring role in the life of the person that he or she is observing.

It talks about jealousy and obsession that we have all felt to some degree at certain points in our lives. How many breaths can someone endure until boredom sets in? How long can someone try and replace the object of his desire, suffering for every broken bond?

Sting’s relationship with Police lasted from 1977 until 1986, when the band officially split. They re-united in 2007 for one last world tour and that was where the story ended for the band. Today, Sting is a proud father of six and is heavily involved in yoga. I’m not sure about what the other two are doing. I on the other hand, now buy my own concert tickets and count my own breaths, some faster, some slower…

I remember this concert in 1993, at the AEK Athens stadium, because my father surprised me by buying me tickets, even though I hadn’t asked for any, nor was I passionate fan. That’s where I saw Sting. A lot of people will probably remember him from the Police gig at the Sporting stadium in 1980, the first major concert to take place in Greece after the fall of the junta

ρώτες μέρες του Σεπτέμβρη και ταξιδέψαμε στο Βερολίνο για να παρακολουθήσουμε το μουσικό του φεστιβάλ. Είναι ωραίο να πετυχαίνεις το Βερολίνο ηλιόλουστο. Κάτοικοι και επισκέπτες απολάμβαναν τις τελευταίες μέρες του καλοκαιριού σε δρόμους, πάρκα και καφέ. Τα βράδια της 4ης και 5ης Σεπτεμβρίου πραγματοποιήθηκε το First we take Berlin. Σε διάφορα clubs και συναυλιακούς χώρους στην περιοχή του Κreuzberg, το φεστιβάλ έδωσε την ευκαιρία σε πρωτοεμφανιζόμενα συγκροτήματα να παρουσιάσουν τη δουλειά τους στήνοντας μία πολύ καλή διοργάνωση. Αμέτρητος κόσμος μετακινούταν από συναυλία σε συναυλία κάνοντας στάσεις για φαγητό ή ποτό στα γύρω μαγαζιά, όπως το διάσημο Βurgermeister κάτω από το σταθμό του Schlesisches tor ή το lobby του hip ξενοδοχείου Μichelberger. Τα live acts που ξεχώρισαν και μας άρεσαν άνηκαν ως επί το πλείστον στη Λονδρέζικη σκηνή. Παρότι οι London grammar ακύρωσαν, ονόματα όπως Moko, Snakehips, Josef Salvat και S O H N ήταν εκεί, δίνοντας τον καλύτερό τους εαυτό. Φτάσαμε στην Παρασκευή χορεύοντας με μουσικόφιλους από διάφορες χώρες στο Chalet Club, υπό τους ήχους των επιλογών της Βερολινέζας dj Εva be από τους Sonar Kollectiv. Αφού κοιμηθήκαμε λίγες ώρες και πήραμε δυνάμεις, φτάσαμε στο πάρκο του παλαιού αεροδρομίου Tempelhof περιμένοντας το show των Pet Shop Boys. Φίλοι που τους είχαν δει στην Αθήνα μας είχαν προϊδεάσει για τα καλύτερα. Και πράγματι, παρουσιάζοντας ένα εξαιρετικό νέο album, αποδεικνύουν πως παραμένουν ακόμη νέοι και επίκαιροι. Η συνέχειά μας περιλάμβανε μία

βόλτα διαρκείας στο Gegen party του KitKat για το οποίο δεν θα πούμε πολλά, παρά ότι είναι από μόνο του ένας δυνατός λόγος για να επισκεφθεί κανείς το Βερολίνο. Η Βjork έδωσε στο Βerlin Festival το τελευταίο show, με ένα πείραμα που ονόμασε biophilia. Μπορεί να έχουν περάσει 20 χρόνια από τότε που αυτό το ξωτικό μας συστήθηκε με το πρώτο album της και να έχουν περάσει άλλα 10 από τότε που έγραφε στίχους για το cocoon, αλλά ακόμη και σήμερα το να παρακολουθεί κάποιος ένα show της είναι μοναδική εμπειρία. Η ίδια ζήτησε να μην τη φωτογραφίζουμε μα να γίνουμε μέρος του όλου θέματος. Εκείνη βρισκόταν επί σκηνής συνοδευόμενη από μία χορωδία κοριτσιών από το Reykjavik, βάζοντας κυριολεκτικά φωτιές και μεταμορφώνοντας τις ακτίνες λέϊζερ σε ήχους. Το cocktail party της λήξης αυτή τη φορά έλαβε χώρα κάτω από μία σκηνή τσίρκου. Η βραδιά έληξε με μία ξέφρενη βραδιά στο περίφημο Club Berghain. Θα μπορούσαμε άνετα να το ζήσουμε ξανά. Και ξανά. T

he month of September was rolling through its early days, when we decided to travel to Berlin, to attend the First We Take Berlin festival.

It’s a beautiful sight, Berlin bathed in sunlight. Locals and tourists enjoying the last days of summer, in the streets, in parks and cafes. The festival took place on the 4th and 5th of September, in various clubs and venues of the trendy Kreuzberg area, allowing many newly formed acts to present their work.

Countless people moved from gig to gig, stopping in between for food and drinks in nearby places such as the famous

Burgermeister under the Schleisisches Tor station, or in the lobby of the hip Michelberger hotel.

The live acts that left their mark on us, were mostly London based. Despite London Grammar cancelling their set, we still enjoyed acts such as Moko, Snakehips, Josef Salvat and SOHN. We danced through to Friday, alongside other music lovers in the Chalet Club listening to the selections of Berlin based dj Eva be, a member of Sonar Kollectiv.

After grabbing a few hours of much needed sleep, we headed towards the old Tempelhof airport, to catch the Pet Shop Boys show, with friends from Greece, who had seen them this past summer, informing us that we were in for a treat. And true to form, they did not disappoint, presenting their new album and proving that they still remain young and relevant.

We continued with Kit Kat’s Gegen party, for which we won’t say much, save for the fact that it is reason enough in itself to visit the German capital.

Bjork provided the festival with its closing show, with an experiment she named biophilia. Twenty years may have gone by, since the elven songstress introduced herself to us, but watching her perform is still a unique experience. She asked us not to take photographs but instead become part of the performance itself. She held the stage, accompanied by a choir of Reykjavik girls, lighting fires and turning beams of lasers into sound.

The cocktail party to round up the festival took place under a circus tent, with the night ending at the Berghain club.

We could easily live through it again. And again.

Pleasurekraft ‘sinister strings’ (kraftek)

τις 7 Οκτωβρίου, αναμένουμε κάτι πραγματικά ιδιαίτερο από τους Pleasurecraft, το tech-house duo που έχουμε συνηθίσει να βλέπουμε στις πρώτες θέσεις των charts.

Mε πάρα πολλούς θαυμαστές παγκοσμίως να ουρλιάζουν περιμένοντας την κυκλοφορία του album, για περισσότερο από ένα χρόνο τώρα, οι Pleasurecraft επιτέλους ανεβάζουν το “Sinister Strings” στην κεντρική σκηνή του ανανεωμένου label τους Kraftek.

To “Sinister Strings” έρχεται να ολοκληρώσει μία εξαιρετικά επιτυχημένη χρονιά για το ντουέτο, οδηγώντας τους στην κορυφή όλων των ειδών μουσικής των Charts του Beatport. Πρώτη ήρθε η tech-house συνεργασία με τους Jaceo & Vedic στο American Hustle, που παραμένει κλασικό hit στα sets του Richie Hawtin, όπως και το remix τους για το Cajmere στο The One. Κέρδισαν ακόμη μεγαλύτερη αναγνώριση χάρη στην συνεργασία τους με τους 313 (Detroit Calling) για το “Coltrane”, το οποίο αποτελεί κλασική επιτυχία στα set του Carl Cox. Πρόσφατα τα αγόρια κατέκλυσαν τα charts με την ολόδική τους διασκευή στο 'Got A Feeling' (Pleasurekraft vs. Bontan Remix) του Josh Butler , το οποίο έμεινε για τρεις ολόκληρους μήνες στο Top 10 του Beatport, μαζί με το εμπνευσμένο τους ντεμπούτο μέσα από το Bερολινέζικο label OFF

Recordings με το Chloroformd. Το 'Sinister Strings' πρέπει να ανταποκριθεί σε υψηλές προσδοκίες. Πρώτη φορά ήρθαμε σε επαφή με το album το καλοκαίρι του 2012, ενώ απέσπασε διθυραμβικές κριτικές από τους fans. Mε διάφορες νές επιρροές συνδυασμένες τέλεια με τον χαρακτηριστικό ήχο των Pleasurekraft, το 'Sinister Strings' θυμίζει τολμηρή διασκευή κλασικής επιτυχίας των 90s- κάτι που μας λέει πως θα αποτελέσει διαχρονικό κομμάτι που θα παίζεται στο μέλλον. Οι Pleasurekraft θα εμφανίζονται στην Ibiza, τη Γαλλία την Ιταλία, καταλήγοντας τον Οκτώβρη στις Η.Π.Α., συνεχίζοντας την επιτυχημένη διεθνή τους πορεία με ακόμη ταχύτερους ρυθμούς.

ctober 7th sees the release of something really special indeed from chart topping tech-house duo, Pleasurekraft.

With a worldwide fan base screaming out for its release for over a year now, Pleasurekraft finally push 'Sinister Strings' to the centre stage of their newly relaunched Kraftek label.

'Sinister Strings' follows an extremely successful year for the duo, which has seen them dominate all aspects and genres of

the Beatport charts. First up there was the tech-house collaboration with Jaceo & Vedic on American Hustle, which still remains a staple of DJ's such as Ritchie Hawtin's sets. Other highlights include their remix for Cajmere on 'The One', their critically acclaimed collaboration with Format B for 'Coltrane' and the techno monster 313 (Detroit Calling) which can still be heard regularly across Carl Cox's sets. Most recently the boys have stormed the charts with their very own reworking of Josh Butler - 'Got A Feeling' (Pleasurekraft vs. Bontan Remix), which has spent a staggering 3 months in the Beatport Top 10, and their auspicious debut on Berlin's OFF Recordings with Chloroformd. 'Sinister Strings' then, has large shoes to fill, a task which the peak-time anthem is more than up to.

First previewed in the summer of 2012, the record has been lauded by fans worldwide as one to watch. Featuring ominous strings combined perfectly with a trademark Pleasurekraft hook, 'Sinister Strings' is a bold rework of a 90s classic-house anthem - and has future-classic written all over it.

With forthcoming tour-dates in Ibiza, France, Italy and the U.S. to name a few, Pleasurekaft continue their success across the globe and show no signs of slowing down.

ια πρώτη φορά Έλληνες καλλιτέχνες θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να εκθέσουν τα έργα τους στη διεθνή εικαστική διοργάνωση Moniker Art Fair πλάι σε κορυφαίους street artists όπως ο Banksy, D*Face, London Police κ.ά. Η διοργάνωση πραγματοποιείται κατά τη διάρκεια της εβδομάδας τέχνης του Λονδίνου, η οποία αποτελεί ένα από τα σημαντικότερα ετήσια ραντεβού για την παγκόσμια εικαστική κοινότητα και πόλο έλξης για το διεθνές «εικαστικό πλήθος». Ανάμεσα στις μόλις 13 συμμετοχές του Moniker Art Fair για το 2013 επελέγη και η ελληνική εικαστική πλατφόρμα artAZ. Η «ελληνική συμμετοχή» απαρτίζεται από τρεις δημοφιλείς ανερχόμενους Έλληνες και δύο κορυφαίους ξένους καλλιτέχνες του χώρου και θεωρείται ήδη ως μια από τις πλέον ανταγωνιστικές της διοργάνωσης. Μέσα από τη σύνθεση Ελλήνων και ξένων καλλιτεχνών αναδεικνύεται η καλύτερη πλευρά του εγχώριου δημιουργικού ταλέντου. or the first time, Greek artists will have the chance to present their work at the international visual arts show that is the Moniker Art Fair, alongside famous street artists such as Banksy, D*Face, London Police and more. The show takes place during the London art week, which is one of the most important calendar events for the international visual arts community. The Greek visual arts platform artAZ was chosen to be part of the very selective 13 participants that will be present at this year’s show. The Greek offering is made up of three popular up and comers as well as two standout foreign artists and is already being classed as one to watch.

Through this meshing of Greek and foreign artists, the best side of local creative talent will be able to shine through. Moreover, it shows Greece can not only export works of art, but also export reliable organizers, as there are many well-known artists, that choose artAZ as the ideal platform to showcase their work.

νάμιση χρόνο μετά το “Lullabites”, το ντεμπούτο LP τους, κυκλοφορεί το νέο EP των Kid Galax με τίτλο “Grotesque”. Τρία νέα τραγούδια που εξακολουθούν να βασίζονται στην μοναδική vibrato φωνή του τραγουδιστή Jimmy Galax, αλλά αφήνουν πίσω τον μελοδραματικό και ραδιοφωνικό indie-pop ήχο της πρώτης τους δουλειάς με έντονες grunge, garage, punk και new wave αναφορές και που πιθανώς αποδίδονται ακόμα καλύτερα στις συχνές live εμφανίσεις της μπάντας στην Θεσσαλονίκη, όπου η μπάντα έχει την έδρα της, χωρίς να λείπουν και οι κάθοδοι στην πρωτεύουσα. ne and a half years after their debut LP “Lullabites”, Kid Galax return with their brand new EP, “Grotesque”. The three new songs within it, remain centered around the unique vibrato vocals of lead singer Jimmy Galax, but distance themselves from the melodramatic, radio friendly indie-pop character of the band’s first offering. In its place, we find traces of grunge, garage, punk and new wave, that will certainly come to the fore during their frequent live performances in Thessaloniki and Athens. This new EP signifies a change of philosophy and a shift in the band’s creative structure, being as it is a precursor of their new LP, which will see the light through the independent Break Even label. “Grotesque” is out now on digital EP from Break Even records, and is also available through iTunes and bandcamp. A limited number of physical copies is also made available during the band’s live shows.

το όνομα Nεφέλη Παπαϊωάννου ακούει το καλλιτεχνικό δαιμόνιο που κρύβεται πίσω από το ανερχόμενο brand, “Architectural Fashion By Nefelia”. Τα κοσμήματά της χαρακτηρίζονται από την αρχιτεκτόνική τους δομή και το φουτουριστικό μα συνάμα παιχνιδιάρικό τους ύφος. Ανέκαθεν, η αρχιτεκτονική, η τέχνη και μετέπειτα το design αποτελούσαν πηγή έμπνευσης για τη μόδα. Το κίνημα του Bauhaus, ο σουρρεαλισμός, η Pop Art και το εκάστοτε δημοφιλές ρεύμα, επηρρεάζουν με τον τρόπο τους τις τάσεις. Στις απαρχές του 20ου αιώνα, μετά τον Πρώτο Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο, όταν ένα νέο κίνημα interior design, γνωστό ως Art Deco έκανε την εμφάνισή του, η απήχηση του στο ευρύ κοινό ήταν τόσο μεγάλη που αποτυπωνόταν στα ρούχα ή τα αξεσουάρ. Η ανερχόμενη σχεδιάστρια Νεφέλη Παπαϊωάννου δεν αποτελεί εξαίρεση. Kράμμα μοναδικού σχεδιασμού και ιδιαίτερων υλικών – με βάση το Plexiglas σε φλούο αποχρώσεις, το μέταλλο και το σχοινί- οι δημιουργίες της, χαρακτηρίζονται από την τρισδιάστατή μορφή τους και τα γεωμετρικά σχήματα, ενώ προσδίδουν στο ένδυμα μια φρέσκια πνοή υψηλής αισθητικής. Στο βιογραφικό της συγκαταλέγονται ένα πτυχίο στην αρχιτεκτονική και ένα στο fashion design, ενώ αντιμετωπίζει και τα δύο επαγγέλματά της με την ίδια βαρύτητα H persona Νεφέλια, δημιουργήθηκε από την ανάγκη της για δημιουργία και υλοποίηση. Ο σχεδιασμός κοσμημάτων προέκυψε τυχαία. Στη προσπάθεια της να βρεί κάποιο δώρο για

τα γενέθλια μιας φίλης της, δημιούργησε το πρώτο της κόσμημα – με τίτλο “Gattaca”- το οποίο στη συνέχεια το κράτησε για τον εαυτό της. Η χρήση των ιδιαίτερων υλικών, προέκυψε από τον φόβο της για τη ραπτομηχανή, ενώ το τελευταίο χρόνο ασχολείται με τη κατασκευή περίτεχνων μπούστων από πλαστικά δάπεδα. Το background της στην αρχιτεκτονική έχει παίξει μεγάλο ρόλο στη δουλειά της σαν σχεδιάστρια. Οι γραμμές των δημουργιών της, ο τρόπος με τον οποίο δουλεύει, φέρουν το μικρόβιο του αρχιτέκτονα. Τον προηγούμενο Σεπτεμβρη ολοκλήρωσε την κατασκευή μιας πολυκατοικίας στο Γκάζι, η οποία και βραβεύτηκε στην Biennale των Αρχιτεκτόνων. Υποστηρίζει ότι πρόκληση είναι να ξεκινά κανείς από το μηδέν, ενώ το φώς, ο χώρος, οι σκιές και η κίνηση αποτελούν αναπόφευκτες προϋποθέσεις στον τρόπο σχεδίασής της. Δανάη Τερζάκου

efelia Papaioannou is the name of the artist pulling the strings for the up and coming “Architectural Fashion By Nefelia” brand. Her jewelry is singled out for its architectural form and its futuristic and playful profile.

Architecture, the arts and design have always been sources of inspiration for fashion. The Bauhaus movement, surrealism, pop art and whichever other movement has been prevalent during any given time, have all played their part in formulating trends. When Art Deco, a new direction in interior design, made its presence felt during the start of the 20th century, it quickly moved into the

realms of fashion and accessories. Up and coming designer Nefelia Papaioannou, is no exception to this process. Combining unique design with specific materials – fluo colored plexiglass, metals and rope – her creations stand out through their three dimensional form and geometric patterns, giving the chosen garment that will showcase the piece, a definite air of haute couture. Her resume includes degrees in architecture and fashion design, two fields of interest which interest her equally. Nefelia as a persona, was born out of her need to create and produce. Jewelry design as her trade, occurred by chance.

During her attempts to find a birthday present for a friend, she ended up making her first item of jewelry, a piece she named Gattaca, which she later kept for herself.

Her use of specific materials arose out of her fear of working with a sowing machine, while over the past year she has been working on producing elaborate bustiers, using plastic flooring materials. Her architectural background has played a major role in her evolution as a designer. The lines one finds in her pieces, her very way of working, are both defined by her architectural profile.

This past September, she concluded the construction of a block of flats in the Gazi area, a building which was subsequently awarded at the Architectural Biennale. She believes that the real challenge is to start from point zero, while light, space, shading and movement are all vital prerequisites in her approach to design.

ον γνωρίσαμε μέσω του Athens Video Art Festival και ακόμη περισσότερο με το έργο του «Λίγο χρώμα για την φύση» στον τοίχο του Jason Hotel σε συνεργασία με την Heineken. Ο Μανώλης Αναστασάκος είναι ένας καλλιτέχνης ο οποίος δε σταματά να επαναπροσδιορίζεται και να εξελίσσει τον εαυτό του μέσα από κάθε εγχείρημα. «Ένας καλλιτέχνης οφείλει να ανακαλύπτει διαρκώς καινούργιες πτυχές του χαρακτήρα του, να μαθαίνει νέες μεθόδους και να πράττει αναλόγως», μας λέει. Γέννημα-θρέμμα της Αθήνας, ο Μανώλης Αναστασάκος, ξεκίνησε να ασχολείται με τη ζωγραφική από την ηλικία των 14 ετών, στους δρόμους, δημιουργώντας γκραφίτι στις συνοικίες της Καλλιθέας. Μπήκε στο πανεπιστήμιο των Καλων Τεχνών, ενώ κάθε χρόνο αποφοιτούσε πρώτος, κερδίζοντας υποτροφίες και άρα εξασφαλίζοντας τη συνέχεια των σπουδών του, εφόσον δεν είχε την οικονομική άνεση. Θεωρεί ότι η τέχνη είναι στάση ζωής, καθώς μέσα της ζουν όλες οι πεποιθήσεις, οι γνώσεις, οι ιδεολογικές κατευθύνσεις, οι προοπτικές και οι διδαχές που χρειάζεται ένας άνθρωπος για να ζήσει μια ζωή με ψυχική ηρεμία. Στο βιογραφικό του αναγράφονται πλην της ζωγραφικής και του street art η σκηνοθεσία, η γεωγραφία στο Ίδρυμα Μπουρζιάνη, η υαλουργία στη Κρήτη, η ξυλογλυπτική στη Λεσβο καθώς και η εικαστική ψυχοθεραπεία με ειδίκευση στα κακοποιημένα παιδια. Όλα τα παραπάνω αποτέλεσαν ξεχωριστά βήματα και σταθμούς, στη συνεχή προσπάθεια του να ανακαλύψει τι εστί τέχνη. «Είναι ενα ταξίδι υπέροχο. Προτιμώ να αναλώνομαι με τεχνικές, πατίνες, ματιέρες, σύμβολα, μέσα απο τη φυσική και τη χημεία, την αρχιτεκτονική κ.ο.κ.», λέει χαρακτηριστικά στο OzonRaw. «Τι σημαίνει το ‘σημαίνει’ άραγε; Ένα ερώτημα που με

κινεί και με κάνει να επανεξετάζω κάθε τι, προσπαθώντας να το δω όχι μόνο από δικές μου διαφορετικές σκοπιές αλλά αν είναι αυτό εφικτό, ακόμη και μέσα από μάτια άλλων», συνεχίζει. Τα έργα του αποπνέουν ειλικρίνεια, ένω θεωρεί ότι η λεπτομέρεια είναι αυτή που κάνει τη διαφορά «Στην πιο λεπτή και απαρατήρητη ίσως γραμμή φαίνεται αν κάτι είναι ρετούς, αν είναι ωραιοποιημένο, αν είναι διάκοσμο, αν είναι συγκρατημένο, αν είναι διαχυτικό, αν είναι δυναμικό». Μιλά για τα κοινωνικά δρώμενα με έντονο και σχεδόν κάθετο πεσιμισμό, ενώ είναι υπερμάχος της φυσικής ροής των πραγμάτων. «Το ‘απλά συμβαίνει’ είναι η διδαχή της φύσης. Έχει μία ροή η οποία στην τέχνη αποτελεί το αυθόρμητο, διαχυτικό στοιχείο που την κατευθύνει. Την έμπνευση. Σεβόμενοι αυτό το κομμάτι σε συνδυασμό με την μέθοδο, την οργάνωση, την εγκράτεια, τη συγκέντρωση και την κριτική σκέψη μπορούμε να κάνουμε τη διαφορά στην αλλοτριωμένη εποχή μας».

e became acquainted with him through the Athens Video Art Festival and even more so with his work “A little color for nature”, on the wall of the Jason Hotel, a collaboration with Heineken. Manolis Anastasakos is an artist, who never stops re-defining and evolving himself through every one of his projects.

“An artist owes it to himself, to constantly discover new aspects of his character, to learn new methods and act accordingly”, he tells us.

An Athenian born and bred, Anastasakos began drawing at the age of 14, creating graffiti on the streets of Kallithea. He got accepted into the School of Arts, and managed to end up on top of the pile each year, thus fur-

ther funding his studies through scholarships, being unable as he was to lift the financial burden himself. He considers art as a way of life, as one can find all manner of persuasions within it, ideological musings of all kinds and all the teachings that a person may need to live a life of mental harmony. His resume runs through painting, street art, directing, geography at the Bourzianis Institute, glass making in Crete, wood sculpting in Lesvos, as well as artistic psychotherapy, with an emphasis on abused children.

All of the above became separate steps and stops along the way, in his constant search as to the meaning of art. “It’s an amazing voyage. I’d rather busy myself with techniques and symbols through physics, science, architecture and so forth”, he tells Ozon Raw. “What does “meaning” mean? It’s a question that moves me and forces me to re-examine everything, in an attempt to see things not just from different perspectives on personal level, but if possible through the eyes of others as well”, he continues.

His work exudes honesty, while he believes that detail is what makes the difference. “In the smallest and most unnoticed of lines is where you get to see if something is beautified, if it is held back, if it is dynamic”. He speaks of social events with a strong sense of pessimism, while he is also a fevered supporter of the natural flow of things. “Nature teaches us that things “just happen”. Τhis has a natural flow to it, which in the arts is the spontaneous element that guides your work.

Your inspiration. Respecting that aspect and combining it with method, organization, selfrestraint, focus and analytical thought, we can make a difference in these alienated times”.

Η ομόφωνη γνώμη όλων πως ο Τζόζεφ Γκόρντον Λέβιτ είναι ο ηθοποιός που θέλουμε να βλέπουμε συνέχεια, είτε αυτό είναι το «(500) Days of Summer» ή το «The Dark Knight Rises» μπορεί πλέον να γίνει δόγμα, όταν στην πρώτη του σκηνοθετική απόπειρα παραδίδει μια από τις πιο χαριτωμένες και ταυτόχρονα ανατρεπτικές ρομαντικές κομεντί που γυρίστηκαν ποτέ. n “Don Jon”, Joseph-Gordon Levitt’s directorial debut, the very nature of the rom-com becomes a how-to manual on sex.

The widely held view that Levitt is an actor we want to see all the time, either in “(500) Days of Summer” or in “The Dark Knight Rises”, can now become a fully realized dogma, since his first attempt at sitting behind the camera as well as in front of it, comes in as one of the most groundbreaking rom-coms ever made.

Levitt is outstanding in the role of John Martello, a crack shot womanizer in modern day New Jersey, who gets more out of internet porn that he does from his girls. This is all flipped on its head, as Levitt slips in a “what if” in the form of Barbara Sugarman, played by Scarlett Johansson, who comes into Martello’s life to prove to him that there is always room for true love.

Somewhere between a buddy movie, a strung out rom-com and detailed manual on how to stay single, when everything around you tells you not to, “Don Jon” has fun by playing with date movie clichés, hands Johansson the best role of her career and leaves you with a couple of thoughts to take home. Ideally, to think over before you switch on your laptop. As for the rest, we’re all allowed our obsessions…

χει χαρακτηριστεί από τους Les Inrockuptibles ως η Πυθία της electronica, ενώ η μουσική της δέχεται την περιγραφή της “dark pop electronica στα βήματα της Chloé ή της Jennifer Cardini”. Η βαθιά φωνή της κυκλοφόρησε επίσημα το 2003, αν και η ίδια διαγράφει μια μακρά πορεία στη μουσική- τόσο στη σύνθεση όσο στην παραγωγή και το dj-ing. Η Όλγα, παρότι Ελληνίδα, είναι ήδη γνωστή (ίσως και περισσότερο γνωστή) στη γαλλική μουσική σκηνή. Με αφορμή το τελευταίο της album “I U Need”, μιλά στο Ozon Raw. Όλγα, πόσα χρόνια ασχολείσαι με τη μουσική; Από 6 χρονών που άρχισα να παίζω πιάνο. Από πού έχεις επηρεαστεί σε ό, τι αφορά τα ακούσματά σου και γενικότερα τι αναφορές έχει η αισθητική σου; Από εντελώς διαφορετικά πράγματα. Από την κλασσική μουσική έως την underground ηλεκτρονική dance σκηνή. Αρκετά στοιχεία έχω πάρει επίσης από την New Wave και Cold Wave αλλά και από την Dark Pop/electronica. Μας ήρθες ουσιαστικά –παρότι Ελληνίδα- ως «εισαγόμενη» από τη Γαλλία. Τι ακριβώς έκανες στο Παρίσι; Στο Παρίσι δούλευα στην δισκογραφική εταιρεία του Laurent Garnier, την F Communication ως keybord player για τους Reminiscent Drive, αλλά και ως dj. Ταυτόχρονα, έγραφα τα κομμάτια μου και συνεργαζόμουν με άλλους καλλιτέχνες όπως οι Poni Hoax (Budapest) κα. Στην πορεία, γνώρισα τον παραγωγό Marc Collin (Nouvelle Vague, Volgan Select κα) που μου πρότεινε να κυκλοφορήσει προσωπικό μου album. Έτσι κι έγινε. Κυκλοφορήσαμε το «Get A Life », και τώρα το «I U Need » . Είσαι αρκετά γνωστή και αγαπητή στην Πόλη του Φωτός, για ποιο λόγο αποφάσισες να γυρίσεις στην Ελλάδα; Αγαπώ την Αθήνα όπου μεγάλωσα αλλά και το Παρίσι που μου έδωσε τόσα πράγματα. Γι αυτό τώρα, προσπαθώ να περνάω όσο περισσότερο χρόνο μπορώ και στις δύο πόλεις. Είναι μία εξαιρετικά δύσκολη περίοδος για τη μουσική σκηνή στη χώρα μας, η οποία δημιουργεί εμπόδια για οποιοδήποτε καλλιτεχνικό εγχείρημα- πώς καταφέρνεις να προχωρήσεις και να

ετοιμάζεις συνεχώς καινούργια πράγματα; Για την μουσική ήταν πάντα δύσκολα. Παντού, όχι μόνο στην Ελλάδα. Το πάθος μου για αυτήν όμως είναι τέτοιο, που δεν αφήνει περιθώρια να σταματάω ή να κάνω πίσω.

Mέσα στα χρόνια έχεις διαφοροποιήσει αρκετά το μουσικό σου ύφος. Πώς θα το περιέγραφες; Σήμερα, θα το περιέγραφα ως «Indie Pop με ηλεκτρονικά στοιχεία». Πες μας λίγα λόγια για το τελευταίο σου album, το Ι U NEED. Στο « I U NEED » δούλεψα πολύ περισσότερο τα τραγούδια στην βάση τους (ενορχήστρωση, στίχους, μελωδίες) και λιγότερο το «περίβλημα ». Επίσης, συνεργάστηκα και με άλλους καλλιτέχνες (Fred Avril, Melanie Pain, Tim Keegan, Liset Alea)κάτι το οποίο δεν συνήθιζα μέχρι τώρα και πιστεύω ότι το αποτέλεσμα ήταν μαγικό. Το album κυκλοφορεί στην Γαλλία από την Differanτ/Idol/Because και στην Ελλάδα από την EMI. Αυτή την περίοδο ετοιμάζουμε την κυκλοφορία κάποιων από τα remixes σε βινύλιο που θα κυκλοφορήσει τέλος Οκτωβρίου.

es Inrockuptibles have tagged her as the Pythia of electronica, while her sound has been labeled as “dark pop electronica following the footsteps of Chloe or Jennifer Cardini”.

Her deep voice got its first release in 2003, although her story in music starts further back, as a producer and a dj. Despite being Greek, Olga is already popular – and perhaps even more so than Greece – on the French music scene. She talked to OZON Raw about her latest release “I U Need”.

Olga, how long have you been involved in music? Since I was six years old and I started playing the piano.

Where do you draw your inspiration from? From a whole host of different things. From classical music, all the way to electronic dance music. I’ve also

drawn from New Wave and Cold Wave, as well as Dark Pop and electronica.

On the Greek scene, you were essentially classed as an “import” from France, even though you are Greek. What were you doing in Paris? I was working for F Communication, Laurent Garnier’s record label, as a keyboard player for Reminiscent Drive, but also as a dj as well. At the same time, I was producing my own work and collaborating with artists like Poni Hoax (Budapest). Along the way, I met producer Marc Collin (Nouvelle Vague, Volgan Select), who pushed me into creating my own album.

We worked on “Get a Life” and now on “I U Need”.

You are quite popular in Paris, so why did you decide to come back to Greece? I love Athens, it’s the city I grew up in, even though Paris gave me so much. That’s why I try and spend time in both cities.

These are tough times for the Greek music scene, with plenty of obstacles for any artistic undertaking. How do you manage to forge ahead and constantly produce new projects? It’s always been hard for music. Everywhere, not just in Greece. But my passion for it is so intense, that it doesn’t allow me to stop or back down.

You changed your style quite significantly over the years. How would you describe it? Right now, I’d say it was “Indie pop with electronic elements” Talk to us about your latest record “I U Need”.

For “I U Need” I worked more on the basis of the songs (instrumentation, lyrics, melodies) and less on the “outer shell”. I also worked with a number of other artists (Fred Avril, Melanie Pain, Tim Keegan, Liset Alea), something that I have rarely done before and the results were magical. The album is out in France through Different/Idol/Because and in Greece through EMI. We’re currently working on some remixes that will come out on vinyl towards the end of October.

What would you ideally want to do as your next project, what would you want to achieve?

To have the chance to continue what I’m doing: creating music!

χοντας γεννηθεί στην Αμερική και αποφοιτήσει από το Central Saint Martins, ο σχεδιαστής Joseph Nigoghossian συμμετέχει σε ένα νέο project ονόματι Bracken, ένα σύγχρονο ready-towear brand το οποίο δημιουργήθηκε στις αρχές του 2013.

To Βracken είναι κάτα κύριο λόγο, μια εταιρεία με αξεσουάρ και πολυτελές casual wear το οποίο ένωσε το χάσμα ανάμεσα στο γυναικείο και στο ανδρικό ένδυμα, τα ρούχα δεν είναι απαραίτητα ανδρόγυνα, μα φέρουν έντονα το unisex στοιχείο, εκείνο το ρούχο που μια κοπέλα θα κλέψει από τη ντουλάπα του φίλου της. Η ιδέα πίσω από το brand έχει έντονες επιρροές από τον συνδυασμό του δυναμισμού της Nέας Υόρκης και τον εκκλεκτισμό του Λονδίνου, όπου και έμεινε για μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα ο σχεδιαστής στο παρελθόν. Μέσα από τη συλλογή του οίκου για Χειμώνα/Φθινόπωρο 2013, ο Νigoghossian προσσεγίζει τεχνικές υψηλής ραπτικής, οι οποίες εφαρμόζονται/ τίθονται σε εφαρμογή αναμιγνύοντας street/αθλητικό/στρατιωτικό ντύσιμο. Δερμάτινα hoodies, καλοραμμένα παντελόνια από nylon, t-shirts με video-prints από μετάξι καθώς και μια πλήρης γκάμα/σειρά από δερμάτινα αξεσουάρ όπως τσάντες και καπέλα την απαρτίζουν. Κυριαρχούν χρώματα όπως μαύρο και ροδακινί. Που μπορεί να τα βρεί κανείς; Τα Bracken, διατίθενται σε μια underground boutique στο Ανατολικό Λονδίνο, στο Primitive London.

Βέβαια, το brand σκοπεύει να ανοίξει κεντρικά καταστήματα σε Νέα Υόρκη και Λονδίνο, το επόμενο καλοκαίρι.

merican born designer and CSM graduate Joseph Nigoghossian joins a new project, Bracken a contemporary ready to wear brand that was launched in early 2013.

Bracken is mainly majority an accessory and luxury casual wear brand which crosses the boundaries between womenswear and menswear, not necessarily androgynous but with a deep unisex feel, the sort of clothes that a girl would steal from her boyfriend's wardrobe. The concept behind the brand is heavily influenced by the combination of the dynamism of New York and the eclecticism of London, two cities that the designer lived in, in the past. For the autumn/winter collection 2013, Nigoghossian approaches couture techniques applied to a combination of sport/street/military-wear. Leather hoodies, tailored nylon trousers,silk video-print t-shirts and a full range of leather accessories has bags and caps take on the collections main colors of black and peach. Where to buy? Bracken stocks in east London underground concept boutique, Primitive London. However the brand plans to open flagships stores in new York and London for the next summer.

A Breath Of Fresh Air. Nέοι, ανερχόμενοι σχεδιαστές που συνδυάζουν το αστείρευτο ταλέντο με την υψηλή αισθητική. Την ώρα που η μόδα πλήττεται από την αλλόγιστη αντιγραφή εκείνου που θεωρείται εμπορικό και προσοδοφόρο, έρχονται δημιουργοί, που με τη φρέσκια τους ματιά, προσδίδουν μια νέα πνοή, εισάγοντας καινούριους και πολύπλοκους κανόνες. Η ελβετικής καταγωγής Cat Potter, κατάφερε να «εξευγενίσει» ένα από τα αρχαιότερα υλικά, το ξύλο με τη βοήθεια μοντέρνων τεχνικών. Συνδυάζοντάς το με ποικίλα μέταλλα και εμπλουτίζοντάς το με δερμάτινα στοιχεία δημιουργεί ιδιαίτερα και περίτεχνα κομμάτια -κράμμα επιτειδευμένου design και υψηλής αισθητικής. Ιντρίγκαρε με τις δημιουργίες της τον κολοσσό Jimmy Choo, όταν παρουσίασε το 2012 την συλλογή για την αποφοίτησή της από το Fashion Cordwainer’s College στο Λονδίνο, ο οποίος στη συνέχεια τη βράβευσε με το the MA Final Collection Award for Excellence.

Η εν λόγω σχεδιάστρια αποποιήθηκε την κινέζικη κληρονομιά της για να εστερνιστεί το μεγαλείο του Christobal Balenciaga. Τα ρούχα της, αν και διακρίνονται για τις παστέλ αποχρώσεις και την απαράμιλλη κομψότητα, χαρακτηρίζονταί επίσης από την έντονη αρχιτεκτόνική τους δομή, τον όγκο και την ελάχιστη υπερβολή. Απόφοιτος του Royal College of Art, διακρίθηκε στο International Talent Support Awards, όπου και έκανε την παρθενική της εμφάνιση κερδίζοντας το Diesel Award, τόσο για τον ιδιαίτερο συνδυασμό υλικών –όλα τα σύνολα δημιουργήθηκαν από την μίξη σιλικόνης και ραφιναρισμένου μάλλινου υφάσματος- όσο και για την μαεστρία που επέδειξε.

Her shoes exude mastery, harmony and architectural structure. Swiss born Cat Potter, managed to ennoble wood, one of the most ancient of materials, with the help of modern techniques. Combining various metals and enriching them with leather elements, she creates elaborate items. Her creations, intrigued none other than Jimmy Choo, when she presented her graduation collection at Fashion Cordwainer’s College in London, who went on to award her the MA Final Collection Award for Excellence

This designer turned her back on her Chinese heritage, in order to embrace the grandeur of Christobal Balenciaga. Her clothes, although noted for their pastel shades and peerless elegance, also stand out through their vivid architectural structure, their volume and their lack of pointless overstatement. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, she stood out in the International Talent Support Awards, where she made her first appearance and received the Diesel Award, for her unique combination of materials – all her pieces were created out of combining silicone with refined woolen fabrics – and her unparalleled mastery of her craft.

Άλλη μια διακεκριμένη βετεράνος του Ιnternational Talent Support, αυτή τη φορά στον τομέα των αξεσουάρ, η οποία βραβεύτηκε με το YKK Award. Το βιογραφικό της, την θέλει να αφήνει τις σπουδές της πάνω στις θετικές επιστήμες για την δημιουργία κοσμημάτων και αξεσουάρ. Παρόλα αυτά, φαίνεται να θέτει ακόμη σε εφαρμογή τους φυσικούς και μαθηματικούς κανόνες που αποκόμισε, καθώς όλες οι δημιουργίες της χαρακτηρίζονται από τη λεπτομέρεια, την ακρίβεια και την αυστηρότητα. Το τελευταίο της project, με τίτλο “Seeing is Believing”, απαρτίζεται από περίτεχνα γυαλιά, κατασκευασμένα από κρύσταλλο και ακρυλλικό, τα οποία κλέβουν τις εντυπώσεις με την πρώτη ματιά.

Γεννημένοι και οι δύο στην Πορτογαλία, γνωρίστηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια των σπουδών τους στο Fashion School της Πορτογαλίας. Οι Μarta Marques και Paulo Almeida αποτελούν το σχεδιαστικό δίδυμο του ανερχόμενου brand Marques’Almeida. Το denim φαίνεται να είναι το αγαπημένο υλικό του duo, καθώς πρωταγωνιστεί σε κάθε τους συλλογή. Αν και οι δημιουργίες τους χαρακτηρίζονται από έντονα σκισίματα και loose γραμμές, αποπνέουν κάτι το επιτηδευμένο. Τα πρώτα τους σχεδιαστικά βήματα τα έκαναν στο πλευρό της Vivienne Westwood, ενώ παρουσίασαν τη πρώτη τους συλλογή για Φθινόπωρο/ Χειμώνα 2011 στην Εβδομάδα Μόδας στο Λονδίνο. Η τελευταία τους συλλογή –όπου έκαναν μια προσπάθεια εισαγωγής στο eveningwear- απαρτίζεται από θηλυκές σιλουέτες, πολυτελή δέρματα και πολλά layers.

Τα πρώτα της σχεδιαστικά βήματα, τα έκανε στο πλευρό του Junua Watanabe, στον οίκο Comme des Garsons. H καλλιτεχνική διευθύντρια του οίκου Sacai, Chitose Abe δημιουργεί ρούχα διαχρονικά, πρωτότυπα και συνάμα μοναδικά. Η ιαπωνικής καταγωγής σχεδιάστρια, λάνσαρε την πρώτη αντρική συλλογή του οίκου, την Άνοιξη του 2009. Τα ρούχα της χαρακτηρίζονται από τον ασυνήθιστο συνδυασμό υλικών – στην τελευταία της συλλογή εντύπωση κάνει το πάντρεμα του nylon με το μετάξι και το tweed- και τα ευφάνταστα patterns. Διαθέτει 35 μαγαζιά στην Ιαπωνία, ενώ την άνοιξη η πασίγνωστη αλυσίδα πολυκαταστημάτων Barneys θα φιλοξενήσει τη συλλογή της, σηματοδοτώντας έτσι την είσοδο της στην αμερικάνικη αγορά.

Another decorated veteran of the International Talent Support, Lau stood out in the field of accessories, receiving the YKK Award for her efforts. Her resume reveals that she left her studies in exact sciences, to focus on creating jewelry and accessories.

She doesn’t however forget the laws of physics and mathematics it seems, as all her creations are characterized by their attention to precise detail. Her latest project “Seeing is Believing”, is based on instantly impressive and elaborate eyewear, made up of crystal and acrylic materials.

Both born in Portugal, they met each other during their studies at the Portugal Fashion School. Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida, are the design duo behind the up and coming Marques’ Almeida brand.

Denim seems to be the duo’s favorite material, being as it is the star in every collection of theirs. They took their first steps in design, next to Vivienne Westwood and presented their first Winter/Fall 2011 collection at the London Fashion Week. Their latest collection, their first stab at evening wear, is made up of feminine forms, lush leathers and multiple layers.

She took her first steps in design with Junua Watanabe, at Comme des Garsons. An artistic director for Sacai, Chitose Abe creates timelessly unique pieces.

The Japanese designer, launched Sacai’s first men’s collection in the Fall of 2009. Her clothes are noted for their unusual combinations in materials. During her last collection she married nylon and tweed in imaginative patterns. She runs 35 stores in Japan, while in the spring Barney’s will play host to her collection, thus marking her entrance into the U.S. market.

Την Πέμπτη 12 Σεπτεμβρίου, η Η&Μ σε συνεργασία με το περιοδικό ΟΖΟΝ Raw παρουσίασε, μία διαφορετική έκθεση φωτογραφίας με τίτλο “Denim On”, με μόνη αναφορά στην urban denim κουλτούρα. Στις φωτογραφίες που εκτέθηκαν στο χώρο του καταστήματος της Ερμού 54, στην Καπνικαρέα είδαμε όχι μοντέλα, αλλά αγαπημένους χαρακτήρες που έχουν διακριθεί στο χώρο τους, να φορούν looks από την φθινοπωρινή Denim συλλογή του οίκου.

H H&M και το ΟΖΟΝ επαναπροσεγγίζουν το all time classic fashion item υπό τη δημιουργική επιμέλεια των φωτογράφων του ΟΖΟΝ Raw οι οποίοι απαθανάτισαν τα πρόσωπα αυτά στην urban καθημερινότητά τους. To Denim On επιχείρησε μία real life προσέγγιση του denim, με κομμάτια της τρέχουσας συλλογής του δημοφιλούς και tredsetting label της H&M, photo-installations στο χώρο και γνωριμία με τη συλλογή, ενώ η βραδιά ολοκληρώθηκε με ένα special party και Dj set από την Miss Linenwood. Οι παρεβρισκόμενοι μπορούσαν να αναδιαμορφώσουν τα Η&Μ Denim τους, παρεμβαίνοντας με εκτυπώσεις μοναδικών σχεδίων μεταξοτυπίας από τον Tind και Image Print αλλά και DYI experts σε μία «Make your own Denim» εμπειρία. Παράλληλα, οι Sales Advisors της Η&Μ παρείχαν στυλιστικές συμβουλές για το ιδανικό Denim look αποκτώντας τα κομμάτια της επιλογής τους με 20% έκπτωση, απολαμβάνοντας free drinks.

On Thursday the 12th of September, H&M collaborated with OZON Raw magazine, presenting an alternative take on a photo exhibition, titled “Denim On”, with its focus locked tightly on urban denim culture. The exhibition, that took place at the H&M store on Ermou street 54, in Kapnikarea, shone the spotlight not on models, but on recognizable characters that have excelled in their particular field, all sporting selections from the H&M Fall Denim line. H&M and OZON approached the all-time classic fashion item from a fresh angle, under the creative supervision of OZON Raw photographers, who caught each individual that took part in the exhibition in snapshots from their everyday lives.

Those taking part included: Pinelopi Anastasopoulou (actress and lead singer of Mamacita on Fire), Olga Kouklaki (musician and singer), Despina Isopoulou (fashion editor), Ifigeneia Pearl (yoga instructor and tattoo artist), Erica Bigiou (actress), Chryssa Oikonomopoulou (PR officer for Gagarin 205 Music Space as well as the brains behind fashionism.com), Amateurboyz (party organizers and djs), Theodore Mavrogiorgis (lead singer of the Wedding Singers), Theodore Koutsovoulos (Dj and owner of the Momix bar, the first molecular mixology bar in Athens) and Marko Rossi (chef and co-founder of Gastronomic Collectiva). The photographers responsible for the images were: Yiorgos Malekakis, Christos Tzimas, Ioanna Hatziandreou, Kostas Stavropoulos and Lambros Tirlis.

Denim On attempted a true to life approach to denim, using pieces from H&M’s current trendsetting label, photo installations within the exhibition space as well as a presentation of the collection itself, while the night was suitably concluded with a party, driven by a dj set from Miss Linenwood. Guests were given the opportunity to customize their H&M denim items, by applying unique silk prints from Tind and Image Print, as well as DIY experts, a real “Make your own Denim” experience. All the while, H&M sales advisors were on hand to provide style tips, in order for everyone to attain the right Denim look for all the chosen items, which were available at a 20% discount. And the free drinks weren’t too shabby either.

Την Κυριακή 6 Οκτωβρίου 2013, η δημιουργική ομάδα του περιοδικού OZON σε συνεργασία με το OFF Radio, παρουσίασε την επιτυχημένη εκδήλωση Fashion Room Service στο PORTO PALACE HOTEL στην Θεσσαλονίκη, με χορηγό την ABSOLUT VODKA. Μετά από δυο χρόνια απουσίας, η εκδήλωση φιλοξενήθηκε για άλλη μια φορά στην Θεσσαλονίκη παρουσιάζοντας στο κοινό τις συλλογές σχεδιαστών και προτάσεις design νέων δημιουργών για το φθινόπωρο/ χειμώνα 2014 στο μεγαλύτερο deluxe class ξενοδοχείο της συμπρωτεύουσας. Επιλεγμένα δωμάτια του PORTO PALACE μεταμορφώθηκαν σε mini pop up διαφορετικά showrooms με τη δική τους ABSOLUT VODKA corner, δίνοντας την ευκαιρία σε στυλίστες, fashion editors, fashion bloggers, φωτογράφους, δημοσιογράφους και στο κοινό να περιηγηθούν, να ανακαλύψουν και να γνωρίσουν τις συλλογές ανερχόμενων και πολλά υποσχόμενων Ελλήνων σχεδιαστών και δημιουργών. Sunday, October 6. The Ozon creative team in collaboration with OFF Radio presented the well established Fashion Room Service event in PORTO PALACE HOTEL ,Thessalonikipowered by ABSOLUT VODKA. After two years of absence, the event returned to Thessaloniki showcasing new designers, collections and creations for this season- in the biggest deluxe class hotel. Selected rooms in the PORTO PALACE, transformed into different mini pop up showrooms, featuring their own ABSOLUT VODKA CORNER- gave the chance to stylists, fashion editors, fashion bloggers, photographers, press and of course the peopleto explore and discover new up and coming Greek designers and promising creators/artists.

Αθήνα. Ιστορικό κέντρο. Μεσημεριανή βόλτα προς αναζήτηση ελληνικής γεύσης. Σε κάθε βήμα, αφήνομαι στις μυρωδιές γύρω μου. Κάθε ανάσα με φέρνει πιο κοντά στον προορισμό μου. Δεν ξέρω ακριβώς πού θα οδηγηθώ, έχω όμως εμπιστοσύνη στο ένστικτό μου. Δίπλα στο νέο μουσείο της Ακρόπολης, ένα διώροφο νεοκλασικό στην οδό Φαλήρου στο Κουκάκι, μοιάζει να είναι η πηγή μεθυστικών αρωμάτων που θυμίζουν κάτι από Μάνη. Λάδι, μυρωδικά, ψάρι, καρυκεύματα, ζυμαρικά και ψητό κρέας αναμειγνύονται με τις χαρακτηριστικές μυρωδιές της πόλης. Χωρίς να χάσω χρόνο, πέρασα την ξύλινη πόρτα, ανέβηκα επάνω και βρέθηκα μπροστά σε μία ανοιχτή κουζίνα, βλέποντας τον chef και την ομάδα του να προετοιμάζουν τα φαγητά. Ο πειρασμός μεγάλος και οι αντιστάσεις μικρές. Δοκίμασα 5 υπέροχα πιάτα και καλό κρασί που συνδυάστηκε μοναδικά με τις εκλεκτές ελληνικές γεύσεις. Το συνιστώ ανεπιφύλακτα καθώς πετυχαίνει κάτι που δύσκολα συναντά κανείς σε μαγαζιά που σερβίρουν ελληνική κουζίνα: τη δυνατότητα να αντιληφθείς πλήρως την κάθε γεύση, τη μετάβαση από συστατικό σε συστατικό, χωρίς υπερβολές, χορταίνοντας, χωρίς να βαραίνεις. Όλα αυτά σε ένα καλαίσθητο, ζεστό περιβάλλον με σωστή εξυπηρέτηση.

Losing myself to scents and smells at every step. Every breath bringing me closer to my destination. Next to the new Acropolis museum, a two storey neoclassical building on Falirou street in Koukaki, holding all the aromas of Mani inside it. Olive oil, herbs, fish, spices, pasta and grilled meat, mixing in with all the smells emanating from the city itself.

Without losing any more time, I go through the wooden door, and head up into the small open-ended kitchen, where the chef and his team of cooks prepare the food. There's temptation everywhere and there's no point in resisting. I tried five wonderful plates and the fine wine complemented these Greek flavors superbly. This place gets my wholehearted recommendation, since it manages to achieve something that you rarely see in establishments dishing up Greek cuisine. The chance to fully understand each and every flavor, the transition between ingredients, without the need for any overstatement, an experience that leaves you feeling satisfied, as you sit in a charming, warm setting, with just the right kind of service.

The Perfecto Jacket: Ένα ρούχο, η ιστορία του οποίου ξεκινά έναν αιώνα πριν, στο Μανχάτταν, όταν δύο αδέλφια, ρωσικής καταγωγής άνοιξαν ένα εργοστάσιο με δερμάτινα είδη, με τίτλο Schott Bros. Kάπως έτσι γεννήθηκε το γνωστό –και αγαπητό- σε όλους perfecto jacket –καθώς και οι λοιπές παραλλαγές του. Ένα δερμάτινο jacket, με ασύμμετρα και διαγώνια τοποθετημένα φερμουάρ, κοντό με μια ζώνη στο τελείωμά του. Το ενέταξαν στην κουλτούρα τους οι μηχανόβιοι του 1920, καθώς ήταν το μόνο που τους προστάτευε καλύτερα από τον αέρα και τις πτώσεις. Κέρδισε όμως το ευρύ κοινό το 1953, όταν ο Marlon Brando το φόρεσε στην ταινία σταθμό για τον κινηματογράφο, “The Wild One”. Από τότε είναι ένα ρούχο συνυφασμένο με το ατίθασο και άγριο στοιχείο, αποτελώντας–μεταξύ πολλών άλλων- ένα από τα στοιχεία που ξεχώρισε τους rockers του 1960 από τους Mods. Τη δεκαετία του 1970 το αποθέωσαν οι λάτρεις του Punk, μεταξύ των οποίων και οι Ramones. Its story stars about a century ago, in Manhattan, when two Russian-born borthers, open Schott Bros, a leather goods company. That’s how the perfecto jacket and all its subsequent “relatives” were born. It was a short leather jacket, with a whole host of diagonally placed zippers and a belt at the bottom. It was adopted as the garment of choice by bikers in 1920, as it managed to protect them from both the weather and the occasional scrape, but it took until 1953 to get adopted at large, when Marlon Brando wore it in the “Wild One”. Ever since, it’s a garment linked with the wilder and rougher elements, being as it was one of the separating factors between the Mods and the rockers in the 60s. Punk took a shine to it as well in the 70s, with the Ramones the most recognizable of fans. The Bomber Jacket: Ο καθένας μας κρύβει ίσως ένα bomber jacket στην ντουλάπα του, sporty, college, flight. Οι μεγαλύτεροι σίγουρα το θυμούνται καλύτερα. Σχεδιάστηκε κατά τη διάρκεια του Πρώτου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου για τους αεροπόρους –εξ ου και το ανάλογο dress code στην ταινία του 1986, Top Gun. Καθ’όλη τη διάρκεια της ταινίας “Rebel Without a Cause” –ο... επαναστάτης Jim Stark, a.k.a James Dean, φορούσε ένα χαρακτηριστικό κόκκινο, αθλητικό bomber συνδυασμένο με ένα λευκό T-shirt και blue jeans. Έκανε δυναμικά την επιστροφή του τη δεκαετία του 1980, όταν οι skinheads και τα skooterboys τα προτιμούσαν ως πανοφώρι ανάμεσα σε πολλά άλλα jackets. Most of us probably have some style of bomber jacket hanging up in our cupboard. Our older readers will probably have better and sharper memories of it. It was originally designed during the First World War for fighter pilots, but is probably best remembered as being worn by James Dean and his character Jim Stark in “Rebel without a cause”. The look was completed by a white t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans. The garment made a dramatic comeback in the 80s, both as an item of choice for scooterboys and skinheads, as well as a cinematic icon on the back of Tom Cruise, in Top Gun. It then moved on to get its hip hop connections, all the while maintaining its widely accepted status as a jacket of choice for a wide variety of people. Up until quite recently, bomber jackets were still trying to force their way into the vast “trend” scene and it finally seems like they’ve made it, with Kanye West singing their praises, Ryan Gosling sporting one as he drifted through “Drive” and many famous designers combining them with haute couture pieces. danaΕ terzakou

What inspired you to start 'AS USUAL'?

I started in August 2012. My friends inspired me.

Why did you choose the name 'AS USUAL'? Other than "AS USUAL" being a phrase that I like, I wanted to capture usual people in their “AS USUAL” situations.

How many followers do you have? Nowadays, I am using Instagram, which is @as_usual_ny, to let people know about new posts on my blog. I must have about 1200 followers by now.

Who are your readers?

Mostly people who live in the U.S. What gear do you use? (i.e. camera, lens, speed, aperture, etc). I am using a Nikon D600 and a 85mm 1.8F lens now.

Soho mostly.

I just want to take photos of people that come across as something special.

Με γοήτευσαν τόσο η πόλη όσο και οι άνθρωποι, έτσι τράβηξα πολλές φωτογραφίες. Μετά από αυτό, θέλησα να δημιουργήσω ένα χώρο όπου θα μπορώ να τις δείξω/ παρουσιάσω. Έτσι ξεκίνησαν όλα. When did you start 'Culture & Journal' and what inspired you? About a year and a half ago, after visiting NY for the first time. I was really moved by this city and the people, so I took a lot of pictures.

After that I just wanted to create a place where I could show them. That is how I started.

Why did you choose the name 'Culture & Journal'? I can capture the different cultures through street fashion. I want to share this with the rest of the world as a journal.

Στην Ιαπωνία, διάβαζα πολλά περιοδικά και sites για street style και θέλησα το δικό μου blog. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? No idea. I think I'll keep doing what I like.

Blind Adam knotted

O καλλιτέχνης Blind Adam, παρουσίασε τα έργα του στην γκαλερί The Breeder, στα πλαίσια της διοργάνωσης ReMap KM. Ο Blind Adam, ο οποίος πάσχει από μελαγχρωστική αμφιβληστροειδοπάθεια, μια γενετική πάθηση που περιορίζει το οπτικό πεδίο οδηγώντας σε απώλεια όρασης, παράγει ιδιαίτερα έργα, από μαύρο ακρυλικό μαλλί, πλεγμένο σε διαδοχικούς κόμπους, που έχουν ως αποτέλεσμα τεράστια μήκη νήματος. Με αυτά δημιουργεί, επιτοίχια έργα, γλυπτά και εγκαταστάσεις. Artist Blind Adam recently presented his work at The Breeder gallery, for the purposes of ReMap KM. His work is unique, using black acrylic wool as its main component, to create large knotted strands of thread. Στο ισόγειο της γκαλερί, βρίσκονται τα έργα του σε καμβά, τα οποία αναφέρονται στο σύστημα ανάγνωσης Braille. Ο κάθε κόμπος αντιπροσωπεύει ένα γράμμα ή μια λέξη, δημιουργώντας μια αλληλουχία προτάσεων, προτάσσοντας μια προσωπική γλώσσα σαν πρωτόγονη μορφή χειρόγραφου. Στο κέντρο του χώρου αιωρείται η εγκατάσταση ‘’Melting Safety’’, με τα μακριά μαύρα νήματα, να συνθέτουν μια επιβλητική μάζα. Ο κάθε κόμπος είναι σε ίση απόσταση από τον προηγούμενο και τον επόμενο, δημιουργώντας μια αρμονική αλληλουχία. Το υπόγειο της γκαλερί μεταμορφώθηκε σε αρχαίο ναό, από το δεύτερο έργο του καλλιτέχνη. Εικοσιτέσσερεις κορινθιακοί κίονες, φτιαγμένοι από μαύρο μαλλί, ξεχωρίζουν στο άσπρο φόντο και παίρνουν τρισδιάστατη υπόσταση. Η αιθέρια κατασκευή, τονίζει την απουσία του όγκου, που κυριαρχεί στο δωμάτιο. Ο Blind Adam, γεννήθηκε το 1971 στην Αθήνα, όπου ζει και εργάζεται. Η τεχνική των κόμπων που χρησιμοποιεί στα έργα του, ξεκίνησε το 2007, και πλέον έχει εξελιχθεί σε αναγνωρισμένη και βασική καλλιτεχνική πρακτική. At the gallery’s basement, one finds his canvas work, which refers to the Braille code. Each knot represents a letter or a word, thus creating a se-

ries of sentences, presenting a very personal form of language as ancient manuscript. Standing at the center of the gallery space, his “Melting Safety” installation, all long black strands, presents an imposing mass. Each knot is equally spaced from the other, creating a harmonic sequence.

The gallery’s basement has been transformed into an ancient temple, from the artist’s second work.

Twenty four Corinthian columns, created from back wool, stand out against the white backdrop and take on a three dimensional form. Their ethereal construction focuses on the absence of mass, which dominates the room.

Blind Adam was born in 1971 in Athens, where he lives and works. The knotting technique which is prevalent in his work, started in 2007 and is now a well-established and quite basic artistic practice.

He has presented his work in individual shows at the Kunsthalle Athena (2013) and at the Suzy Tros Project Space in Athens (2012). He’s also taken part in group exhibitions, such as the “Hell as Pavillion”, which was curated by Nadia Argiropoulou at the Palais De Tokyo (2013), “The Art of this Century” at the Alex Milonas Museum in Athens (2011), “ASVOFF (A Shaded View of Fashion Film) festival” at the Centre Pompidou and Chagallesque at the Hydra School Projects in 2010.

O Nikolai Lind, έχει υπάρξει πολλά πράγματα στη ζωή του. Αρχικά, σπούδασε σύγχρονη λογοτεχνία και δημοσιογραφία στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Aarhus, όμως διαπίστωσε πως μια ζωή γεμάτη βιβλία δε του ταιρίαζε ιδιαίτερα, και έτσι ξεκίνησε την αναζήτηση για να εκπληρώσει τα όνειρά του. Έκτοτε, έχει διατελέσει brand manager σε δύο καφέ στη Δανία, έγινε σεφ, ασχολήθηκε επαγγελματικά με το modeling, και τώρα είναι σχεδιαστής. Το brand του, LIND DNA, αποτελεί την κορύφωση των ονείρων του: σχέδιο, marketing, παραγωγή και δημιουργία προϊόντων που αποτυπώνουν/αποπνέουν/αντανακλούν αυτό που αγαπά πραγματικά.

Nikolai Lind has been many things in his lifetime. First, he studied contemporary literature and journalism at Aarhus University, but a life of books didn’t really suit him, and so he began quest to fulfill his dreams. Since then, he has been the brand manager of two cafes in Denmark, a chef, worked full time as a model and now a designer. LIND DNA is the culmination of his dreams; design, marketing, production and the creation of products which reflect his true passions. Πόσο καιρό ασχολείσαι με το modeling; Aσχολούμαι με το modeling εδώ και 2 ½ χρόνια περίπου, ενώ ταξιδεύω και ζω σε όλο το κόσμο 1 ½ χρόνο –γνωρίζοντας ανθρώπους και δημιουργώντας διασυνδέσεις στο χώρο. Τώρα έχω ελαφρώς κατευνάσει τους ρυθμούς με τους οποίους ασχολούμαι με το modeling λόγω του LIND DNA, μα εξακολουθώ να το κάνω περιστασιακά. Ποίος είναι ο αγαπημένος σου σχεδιαστής μόδας; Ο Tom Ford. Η φινέτσα και το μοναδικό στυλ ενός πραγματικού κύριου συνδυάζονται, με μια δόση υψηλής μόδας. Τι σου αρέσει να φοράς μια συνιθισμένη μέρα; Συνήθως φοράω κυρίως μαύρα, το ένα πάνω από το άλλο. Πού εστιάζεις; Ολόκληρη η νοοτροπία πίσω από το LIND DNA, είναι βαθιά ριζωμένη στο δανέζικο concept σχεδιασμού. Η οικολογική προσέγγιση του LIND DNA καθώς και το τέλειο πάντρεμα ανάμεσα στην άριστη ποιότητα και την όμορφη αισθητική έκφρασης, είναι αυτά που κάνουν το LIND DNA ένα χαρακτηριστικό παράδειγμα δανέζικου design. Υπήρξε κάποιο συγκεκριμένο project, που λειτούργησε ως εφαλτήριο/σημείο καμπής για το σχέδιο LIND; Όχι, δεν ήταν μόνο ένα project, αν και η ιδέα αυτή καθεαυτή που κρύβεται πίσω από το LIND DNA βασίζεται στη βιωσιμότητα και το design. Η βιωσιμότητα αποτελεί τον πυρήνα της επιχείρησης του LIND DNA. Ανακυκλωμένα υλικά, χρησιμοποιούνται για μεγάλα κομμάτια των σχεδίων, όπως δέρμα που προέρχεται από καθισματα αυτοκινήτων ή πλαστικό από σόλες. Στη συνέχεια, αυτά τα υλικά επεξεργάζονται έτσι ώστε να αποκτήσουν την εμφάνιση και την αίσθηση που αναμένεται από υψηλής ποιότητας προϊόντα όπως εκείνα που σχεδιάζονται από την LIND DNA. Μπορείς να μας αποκαλύψεις λίγα πράγματα για τα μελλοντικά σου σχέδια; Στη παρούσα φάση, έχω εστιάσει στη σύσταση της παραγωγής που απαιτείται

για να διαχειριστούμε την επιτυχία που βιώνουμε με την LIND DNA. Επίσης, ακολουθώ ορισμένες γραμμές από το τμήμα δημοσίων σχέσεων της εταιρίας, που μας έδωσαν δύο νέους καταλόγους και τις νέες συσκευασίες των προϊόντων μας. Τι περιλαμβάνει μια τυπική μέρα του Nikolai Lind; Δεν μπορώ καν να το καταλάβω και ο ίδιος μερικές φορές! Προς το παρόν δεν υπάρχει κάποια φυσιολογική μέρα. Υπάρχουν πάντα νέα projects και νέα προϊόντα. Εγώ απλά συνεχίζω να προχωρώ. Ποιους σύγχρονους δημιουργούς θαυμάζεις αυτή την περίοδο;Τις τελευταίες εβδομάδες η μουσική αποτελεί την κύρια έμπνευσή μου- τους Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt και Frank Ocean. Τρία εμπνευσμένα άτομα, με μοναδική αίσθηση δημιουργικότητας. Ποιο είναι το δημιουργικό project των ονείρων σου; Το όνειρό μου είναι μια μέρα να συνεργαστώ με έναν φίλο μου και να δημιουργούμε ταινίες, ρούχα και μουσική μαζι. Απλά να κυνηγάμε τα όνειρα και τις φιλοδοξίες μας. Εκείνος έχει ήδη ξεκινήσει, ίσως κάποια μέρα κι εγώ. Και τι προσμένεις; Ανυπομονώ να μπεί η LIND DNA στο διεθνές σχεδιαστικό προσκήνιο. Να κερδίσουμε ίσως το βραβείο Red Dot, ή κάτι τέτοιο. Θεωρώ ότι έχουμε τις ικανότητες.

Nikolai you are a model, a well-known model in Denmark. How long have you been modeling? I have been modeling for nearly two and a half years now, and traveling and living around the world for one and a half - meeting people and creating a network in the business. Now I have slowed the modeling a bit down because of LIND DNA, but I still occasionally do some work.

Who is you favorite fashion designer? Tom Ford.

The elegance and unique style of a true gentleman, combined with a touch of high fashion.

What do you like to wear on a normal day?

Normally I wear mostly black, layer on layer. An oversizet-shirt, pull over and tight jeans. But I also have a weak spot for more colourful second hand shirts. I have a friend who is a designer, so I often wear his brand.

You are also involved in design. Tell us a few things about that. What is your focus? The entire mindset behind LIND DNA is deeply rooted in Danish design thinking. LIND DNA’s environmentally responsible approach, and the perfect marriage between exquisite quality and beautiful aesthetic expression, make LIND DNA a textbook example of Danish design.

Was there a particular project that acted as a launch pad / turning point for lind design? No, not just a single project, but the idea behind LIND DNA is based on sustainability and design. Sustainability is at the core of LIND DNA’s operations. Recycled materials are used for major parts of the designs, such as leather coming from used car seats or rubber from soles.

These materials are then processed to give them the look and feel expected of high quality products like the ones designed by LIND DNA. Can you give us a little insight into your inner workings at the moment? Right at this moment I have turned my focus towards setting up the production necessary to manage the success we are experiencing with LIND DNA. Also, I have been following some leads from our PR strategy which have resulted in two new image catalogs and new packaging for our products.

What does a typical day in the life of Nikolas Lind involve? I can’t even figure that out myself sometimes! There is no normal day in my life at the moment. There are always new projects and new products. I just keep moving forward!

Which contemporary creatives are you loving at the moment? Over the last few weeks music has been my greatest inspiration - Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt and Frank Ocean. Three inspiring individuals with a unique sense of creativity.

What would be your dream creative project? I have a dream that one day I’ll be working with a friend of mine to create films, music and clothes just pursuing our dreams and visions. He has already started, so maybe someday.

And what are you looking forward to? I am looking forward to getting LIND DNA onto the international design scene. Maybe win a Red Dot award, or something like that. I think we have the potential.

Now 31, she has left Athens behind and lives in London where she does her work. Her creations are dark, subversive, disturbingly erotic, challenging, constantly trying to connect imagery and life itself through her installations. Πόσα χρόνια ασχολείσαι με την τέχνη; Τα έργα σου μοιάζουν σαν σαν ένα κράμα ζωγραφικής και illustration. Aπό παιδί μου άρεσε να κάνω μουτζαλιές και να παίζω με τα χρώματα. Μετά από ένα μεταπτυχιακό στο Chelsea College of Art και ένα πτυχίο από την Καλών Τεχνών Αθήνας, συνεχίζω να παίζω αυτό το παιχνίδι τέχνης. Τα έργα μου μοιάζουν ένα κράμα από ωμές και άναρχες αλήθειες ψυχής- χύμα στο κύμα- που ίσως στο μέλλον γίνουν πολλά και διάφορα.

- Γιατί έφυγες από την Ελλάδα; Πιστεύεις πως υπάρχουν περισσότερες ευκαιρίες στο εξωτερικό; Το ταξίδι μου στο Λονδίνο, προέκυψε από ένα one way εισιτήριο που έβγαλα παρέα με ένα κολλητό. Τώρα έχουν περάσει ήδη 2 χρόνια που είμαι εδώ, χωρίς να έχω επιστρέψει. Την Ελλάδα την αγαπώ και μου λείπει, όμως εδώ ανακαλύπτω συνεχώς καινούρια πράγματα. Το Λονδίνο για μένα είναι έδαφς έμπνευσης και παρατήρησης. Περισσότερες ευκαιρίες; Ναι, υπάρχουν χωρίς να σημαίνει αυτό ότι σου χαρίζεται κάτι. Τίποτα δεν είναι εύκολο και όλα είναι πιθανά. Ο ανταγωνισμός είναι μεγάλος. Η τέχνη θέλει κυνήγι, τύχη, μα πάνω από όλα δουλειά.

-Το έργο σου Dark Space No.8, τι ακριβώς πραγματεύεται; Θα προσπαθήσω να το θέσω σύντομα:Άνθρωπος και εξουσία. Εξουσία και μαγεία. “Απανθρώπιση” και μηδενισμός. Δημιούργησα ένα installation με ζωγραφικά έργα, γλυπτά καθώς και γλυπτικά αντικείμενα.

-Πώς θα χαρακτήριζες το στυλ σου; Ποια ρεύματα ή/ και καλλιτέχνες σε έχουν επηρεάσει (τεχνη, μουσικη, μοδα); Η δουλειά μου έχει πάντα μία διάθεση ελευθερίας και ίσως αναρχίας. Θα μπορούσε να χαρακτηριστεί ωμή και αντι-καλλιτεχνική. Αυτό που με ενδιαφέρει είναι να δημιουργώ και να μοιράζομαι vibrations. Για την ώρα έχω κολλήσει με τις ταινίες τρόμου, ακούω πολλή disco και φοράω second hand ρούχα. Αγαπημένοι μου εμπνευστές αν μπορώ να το θέσω έτσι, οι Ηieronymous Bosch, Daniel Richter, Laure Prouvost, Clunie Reid, Lars Von Trier, David Lynch, Deaf center, The downlow radio, Alexander McQueen και αν συνεχίσω δεν θα σταματώ.

-Συνηθίζεις να περνάς τα όρια και να σπας το φραγμό του "ωραίου", προκαλώντας ακόμη και με εικό-

νες βίας ή σεξουαλικά σύμβολα. Ποιο είναι το μήνυμα που θέλεις να περάσεις προς τα έξω; Μέσα από τη δουλειά μου θέτω ερωτήματα για το ποιοι είμαστε και πού πάμε. Τι επιθυμούμε ως όντα και πώς κινούμαστε ως προς αυτές τις επιθυμίες μας. Η βία βρίσκεται παντού, ο κόσμος που ζούμε είναι άγριος και σκληρός ενώ η σεξουαλικότητα στο μεγαλύτερο ποσοστό τραυματισμένη. Χωρίς καμία ωραιοποίηση, το έργο μου προκαλεί είτε το ενδιαφέρον είτε την απέχθεια.

-Τι σε κάνει να ασφυκτιάς στη ζωή σου; Τι μπορεί να σε αποδυναμώσει και αντιστοίχως τι αισθάνεσαι πως σε γεμίζει ζωή και ενέργεια; Ασφυκτυώ με τους ανθρώπους-δαίμονες-εξουσιαστές των άλλων.Αποδυναμώνομαι όταν δεν ακολουθώ τον ήλιο. Γεμίζω ζωή και ενέργεια όταν βρίσκομαι με αγαπημένα πρόσωπα στη φύση.

-Πώς θα περιέγραφες τη δημιουργική σου διαδικασία; Δουλεύεις συνειρμικά; Έχεις μια ιδέα και αναπτύσσεις ένα σύνολο έργων γύρω από αυτήν; Ένα τραγούδι λέει: “Ι don t know nothing, Ι just got the blues”. Ξεκινώ πάντα με μια ιδέα και ένα συναίσθημα και στην διαδρομή δημιουργούνται χίλια ερωτηματικά. Όλα είναι ένα παιχνίδι, μέσα από το οποίο όλα γενιούνται μαγικά.

How long have you been involved with art? Your work seems to combine painting and illustration.

As a kid I liked to doodle and play with colors. After a post graduate course in the Chelsea College of Art and a degree from the Fine Arts School in Athens, I’m still playing the art game. My work is a combination of raw and anarchic truths emanating from the soul that might morph into a variety of things in the future.

Why did you leave Greece? Do you think there are more opportunities abroad? My trip to London was the result of a one way ticket, that I got with a friend of mine. It’s already been two years now and I haven’t returned. I love and miss Greece, but I’m constantly discovering new things here. London is a place where I observe and get inspired. More opportunities? Yes, there are more here for sure, not that that means that

you are handed anything on a plate. Nothing is easy and everything is possible. The competition is fierce.

You need to constantly chase after what you do, you need luck, but most of all it takes hard graft.

What’s your work Dark Space Number 8 all about?

To put it simply. It’s about man and power. Power and magic. Dehumanization and nihilism. I created an installation of paintings, sculptures and sculpted items.

How would you describe your style? Which trends and artists have influenced you? My work is always colored by anarchy and a sense of freedom. You could class it as raw, anti-artistic. What I’m interested in is creating and sharing vibrations. For the time being, I’m hooked on horror films, I listen to a lot of disco and I’m into second hand clothes. My favorite sources of inspiration are Ηieronymous Bosch, Daniel Richter, Laure Prouvost, Clunie Reid, Lars Von Trier, David Lynch, Deaf center, The downlow radio, Alexander McQueen and if I keep on I’ll never stop.

You often break the boundaries of what we regard as “nice” or “beautiful”, with images of violence or sexual symbols. What’s the message you’re trying to convey? Through my work I’m asking questions about who we are and where we are heading. What we want as creatures and how we move based upon our wishes. Violence is everywhere, the world we live in is wild and harsh, while sexuality itself is wounded to some extent. I don’t try and make things look nice. My work either intrigues or disgusts.

What suffocates you? What can sap your strength and what fills you with energy? I feel suffocated by people-demons-usurpers of others. I lose my strength when I don’t follow the sun. I’m filled with energy when I’m close to nature and the people that I love.

How would you describe your creative process? Do you work in a coherent manner? Do you have a central idea and build your work around it? A song says “I don’t know nothing, I just got the blues”. I start everything with an idea and an emotion and a myriad of questions form along the way. Everything is a game, in which everything is created magically.

Αρχικά θα ήθελα νου πεις μερικά πράγματα για τον εαυτό σου, όπως πού γεννήθηκες, πού ζεις και με τι ακριβώς ασχολείσαι; Γεννήθηκα στην Βρετανική Κολούμπια, στην δυτική ακτή του Καναδά, σε μια μικρή πόλη που λέγεται Salmon Arm. Ασχολούμαι κυρίως με την εικονογράφιση, το branding και τη ζωγραφική. Ωστόσο "τρέχω" κι ένα σωρό άλλα projects. Είμαι συνιδιοκτήτης ενός brand ρούχων, γράφω μουσική κ.ά.. Από που αντλείς έμπνευση; Η έμπνευσή μου προέρχεται κατά κύριο λόγο από την εποχή στην οποία μεγάλωσα, δηλαδή τις δεκαετίες '80 και '90 κι όλα εκείνα τα τρελά πράγματα που τότε φάνταζαν φυσιολογικά. Θυμάμαι ότι κάθε παιχνίδι που είχα, έπρεπε είτε να στάζει είτε να στριμώχνει κάτι! Τα πάντα ήταν σε νέον αποχρώσεις και είχαν μια αύρα… thrash metal. Ήταν σχεδόν χυδαία, γι' αυτό και τα λάτρευα! Έντονες είναι επίσης οι επιρροές μου από την Ιαπωνία - τη μόδα, τη μουσική, την ιστορία, τους θρύλους και τους μύθους της, όπως επίσης τα manga και τα anime. Οποιαδήποτε ταινία από το Studio Ghibli αποτελούσε για μένα Βίβλο. Το Akira, ας πούμε και το Evangellion τα παρακολουθώ ακόμα ενίοτε. Ο Tim Burton αποτελεί μια επιπλέον πηγή έμπνευσης για μένα στον τρόπο που σχεδιάζω και επιμελούμαι την αισθητική ενός χαρακτήρα. Μου αρέσει να το αποκαλώ “pop goth”. Ποιό είναι το αγαπημένο σου είδος μουσικής; Τι ακούς συνήθως όταν χαλαρώνεις ή όταν σχεδιάζεις; Ακούω αρκετή hip hop, Flatfish Zombies, The Underachievers, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, Dylan Ross, Bones και Grimburton. Επίσης, υποστηρίζω και αγαπώ τους My Juggalo Family, Abstrakt Sonance και τους Pixy. Τι είναι αυτό που μισείς περισσότερο στη δουλειά σου και τι αυτό που αγαπάς; Επίσης, ποια θεωρείς ότι ήταν η καλύτερη στιγμή της μέχρι τώρα καλλιτεχνικής σου πορείας. Μπορεί να επικοινωνώ με brands όλη την ημέρα, κανονίζοντας κάποια συνεργασία και πολλές φορές κάτι τέτοιο να πάρει σχεδόν "μια ζωή", με αποτέλεσμα φυσικά να αγχώνομαι απίθανα. Μισώ αυτή την πλευρά της δουλειάς μου. Προτιμώ ωστόσο να έχω νεύρα κάνοντας αυτό που αγαπάω παρά να πιέζομαι και να είμαι δυ-

στυχισμένος, ψήνοντας -ας πούμε- μπέργκερ σε μια δουλειά με ωράριο 9 με 5. Η καλύτερη στιγμή της μέχρι τώρα πορείας μου… Η πρώτη ήταν σίγουρα όταν μου προτάθηκε δουλειά στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία με τους Drop Dead, καθώς υπήρξε ένα πολύ μεγάλο βήμα για 'μένα – απ' το δωμάτιό μου και τον υπολογιστή μου, βρέθηκα ξαφνικά να οργανώνω μιας πλήρη σεζόν με νέο merchandise για μια τόση μεγάλη μπάντα. Σίγουρα έμαθα πολλά εκεί. Μια ακόμη καλή στιγμή ήταν όταν δημιούργησα το εξώφυλλο για το album, The Left Rights των MSI. Ανέκαθεν ήμουν φαν τους. Όταν έτυχε λοιπόν να γνωρίσω τον Steve Righ στο party μετά τα βραβεία Kerrang, στο Λονδίνο, "κολλήσαμε" αμέσως. Ένα χρόνο μετά -κι ενώ νόμιζα ότι με είχε ξεχάσει- επικοινώνησε μαζί μου… Τα υπόλοιπα είναι ιστορία. Φυσικά, η συνεργασία μου με τον οίκο Mishka. Ήταν απίθανη. Έχει υπάρξει ένα από τα αγαπημενα μου brands. Έτσι, το να κάνεις οτιδήποτε για αυτό είναι υπέροχο. Ανέλαβα τον σχεδιασμό του ρολογιού "Shanty" και άλλα αποκλειστικά SF σχέδια μαζί με τα best-sellers Lamour Supreme και Kozik. Πως φαντάζεσαι τον εαυτό σου σε δέκα χρόνια από τώρα; Να ασχολείται ακόμη με την τέχνη, να την αγαπά και να τη μισεί ακόμα, αλλά να εξακολουθεί να μαθαίνει απ’ αυτή.

First of all, tell me some things about yourself.

Where you were born, where you live and what exactly it is that you do for living. I was born in British Columbia, on the west coast of Canada, in a small town called Salmon Arm. As for work, I mainly do illustration, branding/ art direction, and painting.

I also have my hands in a LOT of other projects that include, fashion design, toys, music and co owning a couple rad lil lifestyle brands.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Honestly, I think the majority of my inspiration comes from the era I was raised in, the 80/90s, and all the insane shit that was just normal, apparently, back then.

I remember every toy I had would either have ooze in them or would squeeze out! Everything was neon and had thrash metal vibes. Everything was gross, and I loved it! I’m also heavily inspired by Japan - fashion, music, history, legends and myths, and well as manga and anime. Every Studio Ghibli movie was like the

bible for me, as well as Akira and Evangelion (I still watch them all regularly). Tim Burton is also a major influence in my style and character design aesthetics.

I like to call it pop goth, haha.

What’s your favourite genre of music? I listen to a lot of hip hop, Flatfish Zombies, The Underachievers, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, Dylan Ross, Bones, and Grimburton. I also support and love My Juggalo Family, Abstrakt Sonance and Pixy !!! I used to listen to a lot of black and goth metal as well, and to this day LOVE the theatrics of black metal. I feel like it’s a grim version of Japanese kabuki, and I really love how over the top it is. It’s definitely a huge inspiration for my work as well.

What do you hate most about your job, and what do you love? What have been career highlights so far? Part of mainly working freelance is never fully knowing if you have work coming up. I can contact brands all day long looking but it takes over my entire life sometimes, and there have been times where it has stressed me out like I’ve never experienced before. I hate that side of this work.

But when I stop and think about it, even with that side of it, I’m doing what I love, and I’d rather be stressed about art than stressed flipping burgers and miserable at a 9-5 job. Highlights… oh man, there’s been a few over the years… the first was definitely being offered a job in the UK with Drop Dead, as it was a big step for me going from drawing in my bedroom on my computer to organizing a full season of new gear for such a big brand. I learned a lot there.Another was getting to do album art for The Left Rights. I have loved MSI (Mindless Self Indulgence) forever and I met Steve Righ at the Kerrang awards after party in London. We started talking about art and weird shit, and a year later, after I figured he had forgotten about me, he contacted me. And the rest is history. And, of course, working for Mishka has been amazing. They have been one of my favourite brands and being able to do anything for them would have been rad, but I’ve gotten to design the 'shanty' watch and exclusive SF designs alongside superstars like Lamour Supreme and Kozik.

How do you imagine yourself ten years from now?

Still doing art, still in love with art, still hating art and still learning from art.

dailY lazy In the studio Το Daily Lazy Projects δημιουργήθηκε το 2011 και αφορά στη διοργανωση εκθέσεων μέσα απο τις οποίες δίνεται στην ομάδα η δυνατότητα να παρουσιάσει το έργο καλλιτέχνων που την εμπνέουν καθώς και να δημιουργήσει μια πλατφόρμα για συνεργασίες και διάλογο. Το Daily Lazy είναι το «καλλιτεχνικό παιδί» του Γιώργου Σταμκόπουλου, του Στέλλιου Καραμανώλη, του Διονύση Καραμανώλη και της Tula Plumi. Daily Lazy Projects was founded in 2011 and it busies itself with organizing exhibitions, through which they can showcase the work of artists that the group is inspired by, as well as creating a platform for collaborations and artistic diaologue. Daily Lazy is the brainchild of Yiorgos Stamkopoulos, Stelios Karamanolis and Tula Plumi. Το IntheStudio ανοίγει τις πόρτες στους χώρους δημιουργιας a.k.a studios των καλλιτεχνών, κάτι που δεν έχουμε συχνά την ευκαιρία να δούμε ως κοινό. Πώς προέκυψε αυτή η ιδέα; Η ιδέα αυτή ξεκίνησε το 2011 ως μια καταγραφή στο daily lazy blog και φτάνουμε στο σήμερα μετρώντας ήδη 143 συμμετοχές. Θέλαμε να παρουσιάσουμε καλλιτέχνες μέσα από το χώρο του στούντιο, σε μία εγκατάσταση που δίνει αρκετές πληροφορίες για το έργο ενός καλλιτέχνη και την πρακτική του. Η εκθεση IntheStudio στην Kunsthalle Athena παρουσιάζει ουσιαστικά ένα μέρος απο αυτήν την καταγραφή, σε φυσικό χώρο Το IntheStudio είναι ένα ongoing live project. Πώς καταφέρνετε να το διατηρείτε ζωντανό προσεγγίζοντας ξένους αλλά και εγχώριους καλλιτέχνες; Ναι, είναι ένα ongoing project και αυτό το κάνει πολύ ενδιαφέρον για εμάς καθώς χρειάζεται συνεχή ερευνα. Προσκαλούμε φίλους καλλιτέχνες ή και άλλους των οποίων το έργο γνωρίζουμε στο διαδύκτιο. Ανακαλύπτουμε συνεχώς νεους εικαστικούς και αυτό βοηθάει πολύ την εξέλιξη του project. Υπάρχουν κάποια συγκεκριμένα κριτήρια επιλογής των καλλιτεχνών που συμμετέχουν στο IntheStudio? Για τις ανάγκες της έκθεσης προσπαθήσαμε να συνδυάσουμε όσο το δυνατόν περισσότερες διαφορετικές εικαστικές μορφές που όλες όμως συγκλίνουν θεματικά και αναφέρονται σε καταστάσεις έρευνας, διαδικασίας εφαρμογής, προετοιμασίας και τρόπου σκέψης. Ποια είναι η σημασία της παρατήρησης της καλλιτεχνικής δημιουργίας στα πρώιμα στάδια, τόσο για τον θεατή όσο και για τον ίδιο τον καλλιτέχνη; Εχει ενδιαφέρον να ακούσεις την ιστορία πίσω από το καλλιτεχνικό έργο. Τεχνικές διαδικασίες, λεπτομέρειες και πληροφορίες που απαρτίζουν έμμεσα ή άμεσα το έργο, βοηθούν τελικά στον σχηματισμό μιας ολοκληρωμένης εικόνας γύρω από αυτό. Για τον ίδιο τον καλλιτέχνη η διαδικασία που περιγράφεις είναι εξωστρεφής και επομένως εξυπηρετεί αρκετά στο να επικοινωνηθεί η δουλειά του στο ευρύ κοινό. Μίλησε μας για τη συμμετοχή σας στο ReMap και

την συνεργασία σας με την Kunsthalle Athena. Πώς εντάσσεται το IntheStudio στο αστικό ύφος του ReMap; Η συνεργασία μας με την Kunsthalle Athena βοήθησε σημαντικά να ολοκληρωθεί η μορφή του project. Τόσο η υποστήριξη από την ομάδα της Κ.Α. όσο και η παρουσίαση του όλου εγχειρήματος στον συγκεκριμένο χώρο ήταν καταλυτικής σημασίας για το τελικό αποτέλεσμα, με το οποίο είμαστε πολύ ικανοποιημένοι. Το Remap είναι μια πλατφόρμα που αντανακλά υψηλές οργανωτικές δεξιότητες , προγραμματισμό, και επιλογές που το τοποθετούν στο χάρτη της διεθνούς εικαστικής σκηνής. Ανεξάρτητα από τον αμφιλεγόμενο χαρακτηρα του δεν παύει να είναι μια πλατφόρμα που προβάλλει την αθηναϊκή εικαστική σκηνή και βοηθά στη καλλιτεχνική συνομιλία εγχώριων και ξένων καλλιτεχνών . Ποιοι είναι οι στόχοι και τα σχέδια σας για την εξέλιξη του IntheStudio και του Daily Lazy Projects μελλοντικά; Η καταγραφή που συνεχίζει να γίνεται στο blog θα τροφοδοτήσει μελλοντικά project. Στις 19 Σεπτεμβρη θα παρουσιασουμε στην CAN gallery την εκθεση με τίτλο Thrills and Chills σε συνεπειμέλεια με την Χριστίνα Ανδρουλιδάκη.

IntheStudio opens the doors, through which we can look upon the creative spaces that artists use.

How did the idea come about? We first had the idea in 2011, using it in our daily lazy blog, and today we have notched up 143 presentations. We want to present artists within a studio space, in an installation that provides ample information concerning their work and how they operate. The IntheStudio exhibition at Kunsthalle Athena, presents a fragment of that process, in a natural space.

IntheStudio is an ongoing live project. How do you manage to keep it going?

Yes, it’s an ongoing project, which makes it very interesting for us, as we have to constantly research it. We invite friends or other artists that we get to know though the internet. We continuously discover

new visual artists and this greatly assists the evolution of the project.

Are there specific selection criteria for the artists that take part in IntheStudio? For the purposes of the exhibition, we tried to combine as many different forms of visual art as we could. However, they all converge on a common topic which looks upon research conditions, application procedures and ways of thought.

What’s so important about observing the creative process in its early stages, not only for the viewer but for the artist as well? It’s interesting to hear the story behind each piece of work. The technical processes, the details and information that are directly or indirectly connected to a piece of work and ultimately assist in the formulation of its final shape. For the artist himself, the process is there for all to see to begin with and thus it helps him to better communicate it with a wide audience. Tell us about your ReMap participation and your collaboration with Kunsthalle Athena. How does IntheStudio fit in with the urban profile that ReMap has? Working with Kunsthalle Athena significantly helped in giving the project its final form. Their support and the way that the project was presented there, was of vital importance and we were very pleased with how it all turned out. ReMap is a platform that reflects high quality organizational and programming qualities, and the efforts projected there make it standout in the international visual arts scene. Despite its controversial nature, it remains a platform that showcases the Athenian visual arts scene and helps further artistic dialogue between local and international artists.

What are your goals and plans inasmuch as the further evolution of IntheStudio and Daily Lazy Projects in general? The continuation of the blog will help fuel future projects. We will be presenting an exhibition titled Thrills and Chills at the CAN gallery on the 19th of September, with Christina Androulidaki co-curating.

vasistas domino: “the fall is only the beginning...” Με φόντο την Ακρόπολη, βασικό άξονα το χορό και πρώιμες ηχογραφήσεις του 19ου & 20ου αιώνα -από την παράξενη άρια του Henry Purcell “The Cold Song”, από την Βρετανική μπαρόκ όπερα του 17ου αιώνα «Βασιλιάς Αρθούρος» ως την φόλκ εκτέλεση του “Where did you sleep last night” ή «In the Pines” από τον Lead Belly- να συνεπικουρούν την αφήγηση, μια χορωδία ανθρώπων εμφανίζεται στην ταράτσα του Γαλλικού Ινστιτούτου, φορώντας ομοιόμορφες γκρι σκούρες φόρμες εργασίες, που παραπέμπουν σε ένα αόριστο, φουτουριστικό χωροχρόνο. Κάπως έτσι ξεκινά η νέα δουλειά των VASISTAS, Domino, ρωτώντας: «Τι μπορεί να συμβεί πριν από την πτώση;». Το Ozon Raw συνάντησε την Αργυρώ Χιώτη στο χώρο των προβών και εκείνη μας παρέσυρε στα μονοπάτια της σιωπής, ως ανάγκη επαναλειτουργίας του εγώ + του εμείς μέσα από τον έρωτα και την ανθρώπινη επαφή. With the Acropolis as the backdrop, dance as the main driving point and sound recordings from the 19th and 20th century helping the story along, a chorus of people gather on the roof of the French Institute, wearing uniform work overalls that transports us to a futuristic timescape. This marks the beginning of Domino, the new VASISTAS project, which asks: “what might happen after the fall?” OZON Raw met up with Argyro Chioti at the group’s rehearsal space and she took us on a path of silence, through which one rediscovers the “I” and the “us”, with the help of love and human connection. Υπάρχει σύνδεση ανάμεσα στο έργο και στην περιρρέουσα κοινωνική ατμόσφαιρα; Θα έλεγα ότι το έργο είναι επίκαιρο χωρίς ωστόσο να είναι ειδησεογραφικό, με την έννοια ότι προέκυψε μέσα από την ανάγκη την δική μου και της ομάδας να καταπιαστούμε με κάτι που μας πονάει και που θεωρούμε ότι πρέπει να το θέσουμε ως ερώτημα αυτή την στιγμή σε αυτό το χώρο και το περιβάλλον που ζούμε, χωρίς κανένα άλλο είδους σχόλιο ή συμπέρασμα σχετικά με αυτό που συμβαίνει και με αυτό που ονομάζουμε «κρίση». Πως ορίζεται η πτώση στην παράσταση; Για μένα η πτώση δεν είναι απαραίτητα ένα τέλος αλλά μια αρχή πραγμάτων. Κάτι δηλαδή που φέρει δημιουργία, μεταμόρφωση, που αποτελεί το πέρασμα σε κάτι άλλο, που προσφέρει μια νέα ανάταση. Με αυτή την έννοια την χρησιμοποιούμε και στην παράσταση και με αυτή την έννοια «παίζουμε» σε όλα τα επίπεδα, από το πολύ απλό, πρακτικό και ειρωνικό χιούμορ που συνδέεται με την πτώση από την ταράτσα μέχρι το πολύ συμβολικό επίπεδο, της αλυσιδωτής αντίδρασης πραγμάτων, τον τρόπο δράσης και την απόπειρα ύπαρξης του ατόμου μέσα στην κοινωνία και με τον φόβο ή την απειλή αυτής της πτώσης. Εκτός από το χορό ποιοι άλλοι αφηγηματικοί κώδικες χρησιμοποιούνται; Θεωρήσαμε ότι η σιωπή αποτελεί μια πολύ ισχυρή δύναμη που μας υποχρεώνει να διεισδύσουμε σε άλλους κώδικες επικοινωνίας και επαφής , που και σε προσωπικό επίπεδο πιστεύω ότι είναι αναγκαία. Γι’ αυτό επιλέξαμε να εκφραστούμε κυρίως μέσα από το χορό και την μουσική- που κατέχει δραματουργικό ρόλο στην παράσταση κλείνοντας με ένα κείμενο σε ελεύθερη απόδοση από μια σκηνή του έργου «Παιχνίδια Σφαγής». Σκεφτήκαμε ότι είναι μια πολύ καλή αφορμή για επιστροφή στην ουσία της επικοινωνίας, της ύπαρξης της συνύπαρξης με τον άλλον.

Με ποιο τρόπο σωματοποιείται η επιδημική κοινωνική κατάρρευση στο Domino; Κινούμαστε κυρίως προς την διερεύνηση του τρόπου με τον οποίο λειτουργούμε ως κοινωνικό σύνολο. Γι’ αυτό και επισημαίνουμε ότι όλο αυτό μοιάζει με απόπειρες επαναλειτουργίας του κοινωνικού συνόλου, περνώντας μέσα από διάφορα στάδια που σκοπό έχουν να φέρουν το σύνολο και το κάθε άτομο ξεχωριστά μέσα από τον τρόπο αντίδρασης τους σε επαφή με το «εγώ» του, τόσο σε επίπεδο ενστίκτου όσο και σε επίπεδο λογικής. Για μας όλο αυτό νομίζω ότι έχει να κάνει πολύ με τον φόβο και την απειλή του τέλους. Ποιο είναι το κεντρικό ερώτημα που τίθεται και ποια είναι δική σας πρόταση; Νομίζω ότι το βασικό ερώτημα συνδέεται με την έννοια και την δημιουργία της ατομικής ταυτότητας μέσα σε στο σύγχρονο, ομοιόμορφο, κατευθυνόμενο κοινωνικό περιβάλλον. Άρα μιλάμε για την προσπάθεια διατήρησης της ατομικής ταυτότητας μέσα σε ένα σύνολο ανθρώπων, που συνιστά το πλήθος σε αντίθεση με την μάζα. Μέσα σε όλα αυτά η δική μας πρόταση είναι η επαφή και ουσιαστικά ο έρωτας ως μια πιθανή αρχή της μεταμόρφωσης του εγώ σε εμείς. Πως θα περιέγραφες το Domino με μια φράση; «Όταν είσαι μέσα στα σκατά ως το λαιμό δεν μένει παρά να τραγουδάς!». Σ. Μπέκετ

Is there a connection between the project and the overall social climate? I’d say that our work is of its time, without finding its basis in the news. It grew out of the group’s need to focus on something that is troubling and hurtful to us, and we wanted to ask this question in the space and environment we occupy, with no further need for commentary or explanation inasmuch as the crisis we are going through is concerned.

How is the fall defined in the show? For me, the fall is not necessarily an end, but rather a beginning.

Something that may bring about creation, metamorphosis, something that provides a passage from one state to the next, something that may provide an uplifting state of sorts. It is in that respect that we use it in our show and through it, access a variety of levels. From the very simple and literal ironic humor that connects with the actual fall from the roof, all the way to the very symbolic level, the chain reaction and the attempt of the individual to exist within a social structure, all the while dealing with the fear and threat of such a fall.

What other story telling modes are used, outside of dance? We believe that silence is a very strong force, that pushes us to access other codes of communication and connection, something which I find crucial even on a personal level. This is why we chose to mostly express ourselves through dance and music, which plays a dramatic role in our show, concluding with a text inspired by a scene from “Slaughter Games”. We thought it was a good opportunity to return to the very essence of communication, that is to say co-existing with those around you, next to you.

What is the main question posed by the show and what is your proposition? I think the main question is one connected with the meaning and creation of individual identity, within a modern and uniform social environment. So we’re essentially talking about trying to maintain individual identity within a mass of people. Within all this, our proposition is connection and love as a possible start of transforming the “I” into “us”.

sPectralfire A spark is enough Oι Spectralfire είναι το ντεμπούτο- solo project του Αθηναίου μουσικού και συνθέτη Λάμπη Κουντουρογιάννη, γνωστού και από την ελληνική post punk μπάντα, Modrec –της οποίας ήταν συνιδρυτής και κιθαρίστας. Όλα ξεκίνησαν από μία live εμφάνιση στο Small Music Theatre κατά τη διάρκεια του 'Burnt Festival', το 2007. Ακολούθησε μια σειρά από επιτυχημένες εμφανίσεις, όπως στην Ευρωπαική Ημέρα Μουσικής το 2008 και κατόπιν το άνοιγμα της συναυλίας του Patrick Duff (Strangelove) μαζί με τους Serpentine. Spectralfire is the debut solo attempt of Athenian musician and composer Labis Koudourogiannis, wellknown for his work with post-punkers Modrec, a band that he co-founded and played guitar for. Ποιά είναι η ιστορία του Spectralfire; Πώς προέκυψε και τι κρύβεται πίσω από το όνομα αυτό; Το Spectralfire ξεκίνησε το 2006 ως side project του κιθαρίστα & ιδρυτικού μέλους των Modrec, Λάμπη Κουντουρόγιαννη, με αφορμή την συμμετοχή στο μουσικό φεστιβάλ νέων καλλιτεχνών με τίτλο Burnt festival που έλαβε χώρο στο Μικρό Μουσικό Θέατρο. Έκτοτε μέσα απο διαρκή ηχητικό πειραματισμό, κάποιες συναυλίες και προσθήκες μελών, τον Οκτώβρη του 2012 ήρθε στην ζωή το ομώνυμο πρώτο album. Το όνομα βρίσκεται στους στίχους του Quarantined των At The Drive In μέσα απο το καταπληκτικό Relationship Of Command που λέει "...A single spark can start a spectral fire...". Ακόμα επίκαιρο. Από που αντλεί έμπνευση το project Spectralfire; Η έμπνευση για μένα βρίσκεται μέσα σε ωραίες μουσικές, βιβλία, συζητήσεις, ταινίες, ξενύχτια, έρωτες βέβαια, επιτυχίες, αποτυχίες, φιλίες και γενικά στα καλά και κακά πράγματα που μας φανερώνει η ζωή. Αν μπορούσες να βάλεις φωτιά σε κάτι προκειμένου να το δεις να γίνεται στάχτες τι θα ήταν αυτό και γιατί; Στο παλιό μου κασεττόφωνο που μάσαγε συνεχώς τα αγαπημένα μου mixtapes! Σε κοινωνικοπολιτικό επίπεδο σε οποιαδήποτε μορφή εξουσίας μας καταπιέζει και μας συρρικνώνει. Μεταφορικά θα την έβαζα στις καρδιές και τα μυαλά των ανθρώπων μήπως και ξυπνήσουμε λίγο και πάρουμε επιτέλους την κατάσταση και τον νόμο στα χέρια μας . Θα ήθελα να μου περιγράψεις την πιο όμορφη εικόνα που αντίκρυσες ποτέ στην πόλη της Αθήνας.

Ο χάρτης των Κυθήρων σε μαγαζί με τουριστικά είδη κάπου στο κέντρο! Μου αρέσει πολύ η Αθήνα παρόλα αυτά. Υπάρχουν ελληνικές μπάντες/Έλληνες καλλιτέχνες που να θαυμάζεις και να θέλεις ενδεχομένως να συνεργαστείς; Υπάρχουν καταπληκτικές μπάντες στην Ελλάδα! Ενδεικτικά we.own.the.sky , blame Kadinsky, viper vikings, this is nowhere, dot message, Larry gus, Silly boy, moa bones και πάρα μα πάρα πολλοί άλλοι που ποτέ δεν ξέρεις πως μπορεί να τα φέρει η ίδια η ζωή και αύριο μεθαύριο να συνεργαστούμε! Στο κομμάτι "This Mess" υπάρχει ένας στίχος που λέει "We gotta wake up and depart from this mess or make it a greater one". Τελικά τι κάνουμε; Οι στίχοι έχουν γραφτεί εδώ και πολύ καιρό και ουσιαστικά είναι ένα δίλημμα που είχα θέσει στον εαυτό μου. Είμαι ακόμα εδώ, άρα υποθέτω οτι διάλεξα την κουρτίνα 2...

What’s the story behind Spectralfire? How did it come about and what’s behind that name? It started in 2006, as a performance for the “Burnt Festival”. It then continued to look for itself sonically, swapping members and playing live, until in 2012 it managed to put together a debut album. The name comes from a lyric in At The Drive In’s song Quarantined, from their fantastic album “Relationship of Command”. “...A single spark can start a spectral fire...". Still quite apt.

Where does the project get its inspiration from?

Inspiration comes from good music, books, talks, movies, going out, falling in love of course, successes, failures, friendships, basically anything good or bad that life bring us.

If you could set fire to something and watch it crumble into ashes, what would that be and why?

My old tape deck, because it constantly destroyed my favorite mix tapes! On a sociopolitical level, any form of power that oppresses and shrinks us. Metaphorically speaking, I’d set fire to the minds of people, just so they could wake up and take their lives, our laws and our current situation into their own hands.

What’s the most beautiful image that you have come across in Athens? A map of Kithira in a souvenir shop somewhere downtown! I do like Athens a lot.

Are there any Greek bands or artists that you admire and would like to work with? There are some great bands in Greece! Bands such as we.own.the. sky, blame Kadinsky, viper vikings, this is nowhere, dot message, Larry gus, Silly boy, moa bones and a whole lot more than you never know when you might meet and eventually work with!

In your song “This Mess”, there’s a lyric that says "We gotta wake up and depart from this mess or make it a greater one". So what do we do? Those lyrics were written a long time ago and they were essentially a dilemma I posed for myself. I’m still here, so I guess I went with the second option…

Σκέφτεσθε να δημιουργήσετε κάποια γυναικεία συλλογή στο εγγύς μέλλον; Εννοείται, μπορεί το πλάνο να ήταν να σχεδιάζω για άντρες, μα στο παρελθόν έκανα και γυναικεία ρούχα. Η πρόκληση είναι να δημιουργείς καινούργια πράγματα, είτε για άντρες είτε για γυναίκες –είναι το ίδιο. Κατά την άποψή σας ποιό είναι το σημαντικότερο κομμάτι στην αντρική γκαρνταρόμπα; Το παντελόνι! Πρέπει να είναι κομψό, με ωραίες τσέπες και με ωραίο καβάλο. Ο τίτλος της συλλογής σας,“Τhe Boy Vanishes”, γεννά πολλά ερωτήματα. Ποία είναι η κεντρική της ιδέα; Λατρεύω την ιδέα του να λίωνεις ένα αντικείμενο με ένα άλλο (όπως η σιλικόνη στη συλλογή μου), όπως επίσης να σβήνω μέρη του ενδύματος. Ήθελα να εξαφανιστώ μέσα στο κόσμο των αδελφών μου. Συνεπώς η συλλογή σας ήτο μια απόπειρα να «μπλεχτείτε» στο κόσμο και στα ρούχα των αδελφών σας. Αυτοί αποτελούν την κύρια έμπνευσή σας; Λατρεύω τη ρουτίνα της καθημερινότητας, οτιδήποτε μας περιβάλλει: οι άνθρωποι τα τοπία ακόμα και τα μέσα μαζικής μεταφοράς. Στη συγκεκριμένη

συλλογή, επικεντρώθηκα στο τρόπο με τον οποίο ντύνονται τα αδέλφια μου και πόσο συνηθισμένο μπορεί να είναι αυτό. Πως φαντάζεσθε τον εαυτό σας σε 5 χρόνια; Ας ελπίσουμε με μια καλή δουλεία. Τα ακροδάχτυλα των μοντέλων ήταν βαμμένα με παστέλ πράσινη μπογία. Έγινε για να δημιουργήσει αντίθεση με τα καφετί σύνολα ή είχε κάποια άλλη σημασία; Συνδέεται με την πρώτη εικόνα από το moodboard μου, όπου απεικονίζεται ένα χέρι βουτηγμένο ως τη μέση σε μπλέ μπογία. Αυτό ήταν το ξεκίνημα της έρευνάς μου. Υπήρξατε αγοροκόριτσο; Ναι. Αλλά ονειρευόμουν ότι σύντομα θα γίνω γυναίκα.

Even though you are a menswear designer, you won the Chloe Award by designing a single woman’s outfit. Any plans for launching a line of womenswear in the near future? Of course my formation was to design for men, but I’ve always done womenswear before and for myself. The challenge is to design new things, for men and for women; it’s all the same in the end!

In your opinion what is the most important

garment in a man’s wardrobe? Trousers! They have to be cool, with nice pockets and a nice crotch The Boy Vanishes is a very intriguing title for a collection. What was the main idea for the concept? I love the concept of trying to melt one material into another (like the silicon in my collection) and, also, to erase parts of clothes. I myself also wanted to vanish into my brothers’ world.

Hence your collection was an attempt to blend into your brothers’ clothes. Do you consider them your muses? I love the daytime banality which surrounds me; people, places or public transport.

For this collection, I was intrigued by the way my brothers were getting dressed, and how ordinary that could be.

How do you imagine yourself in 5 years? Hopefully with a good job!

The finger-tips of the models were painted grayish green. Was that in order to create a contrast with the brown garments, or did it have a different meaning? That was in relation to one of the very first mood pictures I had, of a half dipped hand painted in blue. That was the starting point for my research.

Melchior Tersen is a 24 year old photographer based in Paris. According to him, his photographs are "strange or unhealthy." Tersen is often inspired by music and "esotericism." Πες μας λίγα πράγματα για το πως ξεκίνησες να τραβάς φωτογραφίες. Υπήρξαν άλλοι φωτογράφοι που σε ενέπνευσαν ότι πρωτοξεκίνησες; Δεν θυμάμαι να έλεγα ποτέ πως θέλω να γίνω φωτογράφος. Αγόρασα την πρώτη μου μηχανή όταν ήμουν περίπου 16 ετών. Ένας φίλος είχε πάρει μία και εγώ έκανα το ίδιο. Τραβούσαμε φωτογραφίες στην ταξη, κάναμε βλακείες. Αυτή ήταν η πρώτη μου επαφή με την φωτογραφία. Ήταν μια μικρή compact κάμερα που έπαιρνα μαζί μου στις συναυλίες. Εκείνη την εποχή άκουγα metal και hardcore και μαζί με τους φίλους μου βγάζαμε φωτογραφίες τους μουσικούς στην έξοδο. Ξεκίνησα να πηγαίνω σε πρεμιέρες ταινιών φωτογραφίζοντας τους διάσημους δίπλα στους paparazzi. Ήμουν ο μόνος εκεί με compact κάμερα. Παρέμεινα «ερασιτέχνης» μέχρι πριν 4-5 χρόνια, που ανακάλυψα την silver ψηφιακή μου μηχανή και τις φωτογραφίες των Ryan McGinley, Tim Barber και Terry Richardson στο περιοδικό Vice. Από εκείνη τη στγμή, βρήκα σταδιακά ένα είδος λογικής που μπορεί να σταθεί (και να εφαρμοστεί) από μόνη της. Με ποια κάμερα προτιμάς να τραβάς φωτογραφίες; Χρησιμοποιώ διάφορες κάμερες. Mία μικρή κάμερα, μία 6x7 και μία 6x4,5, ενώ προσφάτως χρησιμοποίησα την παλιά μου ψηφιακή για να τραβήξω μία σειρά από μπαλώματα σε jackets. Μου αρέσει η silver, ξεκίνησα με την ψηφιακή αλλά σε κάποια φάση σταμάτησα να την ευχαριστιέμαι επειδή της λείπει το στοιχείο της έκπληξης και ήταν βαρετό. Από τη στιγμή που μπήκα στον κόσμο της κινηματογραφίας και κατάφερα να απαθανατίσω στιγμές που παραλίγο χάνονται, άλλαξε ριζικά ο τρόπος με τον οποίο δουλεύω. Πώς θα περιέγραφες τις φωτογραφίες σου σε κάποιον που δεν τις έχει ξαναδεί ποτέ; Υπάρχει κάποιο στοιχείο που θεωρείς ότι έχουν κοινό; Προσπαθώ να μην είμαι βαρετός. Να δημιουργώ όμορφες εικόνες που μιλούν στους περισσότερους κρατώντας συγκεκριμένες αναφορές. Οι φωτογραφίες αφορούν πολύ το χώρο του πάθους. Λατρέυω ανθρώπους που ζουν στο περιθώριο, παθιασμένοι με ορισμένα πράγματα. Μπορεί να είναι πάθος για το σκύλο τους, για μία metal μπάντα, να παρατηρούν τα πουλιά. Αγαπώ την παθιασμένη ειλικρίνεια. Φωτογραφίζεις πολλούς ανθρώπους από τη metal, goth και άλλες υποκουλτούρες. Ταυτίζεσαι με κάποια από αυτές ο ίδιος; Τι σε κάνει να φωτογραφίζεις άτομα που ανήκουν σε αυτούς τους χώρους; Φωτογραφίζω διαφορετικούς χώρους, διαφορετικές «κοινότητες». Ο κοινός παρονομαστής ανάμεσα στα υποκείμενά μου είναι το ότι βρίσκονται κοντά μου. Συμβιβάζομαι με τα μέσα που διαθέτω και προσαρμόζομαι. Μιλώ μόνο γαλλικά, δεν έχω άδεια, πάντα ζούσα στο ίδιο μέρος και είχα περιορισμένους τρόπους και υλικά στη διάθεσή μου. Δεν είναι κακό να θέτεις όρια στους στόχους σου. Κινούμαι προς ευκολότερα αντικείμενα που είναι πιο κοντά μου, περισσότερο προσβάσιμα σε μένα. Φωτογραφίζω πράγματα που με αγγίζουν. Δεν εμπλέκομαι απαραίτητα σαν συμμετέχοντας, αλλά γνωρίζω

τους κώδικες και τι μπορεί να ενώσει όλες αυτές τις θεματικές με πάθος. Μου αρέσουν οι παθιασμένοι άνθρωποι που ζουν πλήρως για αυτό που τους αρέσει χωρίς να προσποιούνται κάτι διαφορετικό. Η εμφάνιση είναι σίγουρα σημαντική, αλλά για μένα και την προσέγγισή μου, κυριαρχεί το υπόβαθρο. Πρόσφατα έκανες μία φωτογράφηση με την Nike Air Paris, που είχε έντονο το στοιχείο του editorial μόδας συνδυασμένο με το δικό σου προσωπικό στυλ φωτογραφίας. Θα σε ενδιέφερε να γίνει φωτογράφος μόδας; Προσπαθώ να κάνω λίγο μόδα επειδή μου αρέσουν τα ρούχα μέσα από διαφορετικές φωτογραφικές ματιές. Υπάρχουν κώδικές, μέθοδοι φωτογραφίας που μπορεί κανείς να εφαρμόσει σε διαφορετικά στυλ. Η μόδα συχνά γίνεται βαρετή και επαναλαμβάνεται. Με αναγκάζει κατά μία έννοια να τραβήξω φωτογραφίες που δεν θα δοκίμαζα κανονικά και που μερικές φορές δεν είναι η προφανής επιλογή. Έχεις τραβήξει αρκετές φωτογραφίες έξω από show και events. Τι σε τραβά να φωτογραφίσεις ένα κοσμικό γεγονός; Ποιο γεγονός θα ήθελες πολύ να φωτογραφήσεις; Δεν μου αρέσει να κάνω τον κόσμο να αισθάνεται άβολα, οπότε τις περισσότερες φορές προσπαθώ να τραβάω σε μέρη που οι άνθρωποι νιώθουν άνετα, όπως συναυλίες, συνέδρια, θεματικές βραδιές και events. Αισθάνονται πιο άνετα όταν είναι προετοιμασμένοι να τους δουν ή όταν τραβούν φωτό και οι ίδιοι. Νομίζω πως όλοι μπορούμε να τραβήξουμε, να βρούμε τη σωστή γωνία και την κατάλληλη στιγμή. Αν οι συνθήκες είναι κατάλληλες, θα λειτουργήσει, ενώ 5 λεπτά πιο μετά ή 100 μέτρα πιο μακριά θα είναι αδύνατο και λάθος. Πολλά events ονειρεύομαι να πάω και να φωτογραφήσω. Έχω διάφορα θέματα στο μυαλό μου. Ζώα, ασυνήθιστη μουσική, φύση, σεξ... Υπάρχουν λύκοι στα Πυρηναία, που θα ήθελα να πάω και να φωτογραφήσω. Θα ήθελα επίσης να τραβήξω το gay pride στο San Francisco. Πολλά από τα events που φωτογράφησες ήταν εκθέσεις Erotica και sex shows. Θα περιέγραφες αυτές τις φωτογραφίες ως ηδονοβλεπτικές; Τα άτομα που φωτογραφίζεις απολαμβάνουν να φωτογραφίζονται υπό αυτές τις συνθήκες; Ναι. Υπάρχει έντονο το ηδονοβλεπτικό στοιχείο. Μου αρέσει πολύ να πηγαίνω σε αυτά τα events, χωρίς να συμμετέχω ποτέ, απλά παρακολουθώ φωτογραφίζοντας. Δεν είναι πάντα εύκολο γιατί όπως σε κάθε πολυδιαφημιζόμενο event, υπάρχουν πολλοί άνθρωποι που δεν επιθυμούν να φωτογραφηθούν. Έχω μάθει να αναμένω τις αντιδράσεις τους και να έχω αυτοπεποίθηση. Πάνω απ’ όλα θα πρέπει να είσαι προετοιμασμένος και να γνωρίζεις τα όρια και τους κώδικες. Είσαι ένας αρκετά παραγωγικός φωτογράφος και σου αρέσει να απαθανατίζεις απρόσμενες στιγμές. Eνοχλούνται ποτέ οι φίλοι σου όταν τους βγάζεις φωτογραφίες με αυτό τον τρόπο- νιώθουν μήπως σαν να παρακολουθούνται; Στην πραγματικότητα, τραβάω πολύ λίγες φωτογραφίες φίλων μου. Θα ήταν πρόβλημα αυτό, αλλά δεν δημοσιεύω ποτέ κάποια εικόνα που εκθέτει το υποκέιμενο.

Tell us a little about how you got started taking photographs. Are there any photographers who inspired you when you were first starting out? I do not remember a time when I said I wanted to be a photographer. I bought my first camera when I was about 16 years old. A friend had bought one and I did the same thing. We took pictures in the classroom, doing stupid things. That was my first real experience with photography. It was a small compact camera that I took with me to concerts. At that time I was listening to metal and hardcore, and my friends and I took pictures of the musicians at the exit. I also went to film premieres, photographing stars alongside the paparazzi. I was the only one there with a compact camera. I stayed "amateur" until about four or five years ago, when I discovered my digital silver camera and pictures by Ryan McGinley, Tim Barber and Terry Richardson via Vice magazine. From that moment on, I gradually found a kind of logic that is implemented alone.

What’s your camera of choice, and why? I use several cameras; small compact, a 6x7 and a 6x4,5, and I recently used my old digital to do a series on jackets patches. I like the silver, I started in digital but all of a sudden I stopped taking pleasure in it because there was no surprise element to it, it was boring. From the moment I entered the world of film photography and managed to capture moments which are almost missed, it completely changed the way I work.

How would you sum up your photos to someone who had never seen them before? Is there some element you think all of your photos have in common?

I try not to be boring; I try to make pictures that can speak to the multitude while keeping specific references. I photograph a realm of passion a lot; I love people who live in the background, who are obsessed with certain things. It can be a passion for their dogs, for a metal band, for clothes, for bird watching. I love passionate sincerity.

You photograph a lot of people from metal, goth and other subcultures. Do you identify with any particular subculture yourself? And what is it that draws you to taking photographs of people that do? I photograph different backgrounds, different "communities". The common factor between my subjects is that they are close to me. I make do with the means at my disposal and I adapt: I only speak French, I do not have a license, I've always lived in the same place and I have limited resources. It's not bad to limit your scope. I'm heading towards easier subjects that are close to me, more accessible to me. I photograph subjects that touch me. I'm not necessarily involved as a participant, but I know the codes. What unites all these themes is passion. I love passionate people who live fully for what they like and do not pretend otherwise. The visual appearance is important, of course, but for me, it is the background that prevails in my approach.

You recently did a shoot for Nike Air Max Paris, which fused elements of fashion editorials and your own preferred shooting style. Have you ever considered yourself a fashion photographer? Is that a field which interests you? I try to do a little fashion because I love clothes and a photographic point of view, it is a completely different world. There are codes, methods of photography that you can try to apply to different styles; fashion is often very boring and repetitive. It forces me to take pictures I usually wouldn’t do and that are sometimes not the obvious choice.

You’ve taken a lot of photographs outside shows and events. Why are you drawn to event photography? What would be your dream event to photograph? I hate making people uncomfortable, so most of the time I try to take pictures in favourable contexts; concerts, conventions, theme evenings, events.

People feel more comfortable in an environment where they are prepared to be seen, or where they are even taking pictures themselves. I think we can all shoot, we can all find the right angle, the right moment. If you're in the right context, it will work, while 5 minutes later and 100 meters away, it would be impossible and inappropriate. There are plenty of events that I dream about! I have a lot of re-

curring themes, animals, extreme music, nature, sex. There are wolves in the Pyrenees, I would love to go and shoot. Then I would also love to do the gay pride parade in San Francisco.

Some of those events which you’ve photographed have been erotic expos and sex shows. Would you describe those photos as voyeuristic? Do the subjects enjoy being photographed in those cases? Yes, there is a great deal of voyeurism. I love going to these events, but as I’m never actively participating, I'm just watching to take pictures. It's not easy all the time because, like in all media advertised events, many people do not want to be photographed. I have learned to anticipate reactions and do what it takes to feel confident. Above all you should always be prepared, and you must know the codes and the limits.

You’re quite a prolific photographer and you have a thing for capturing unexpected moments involving people. Do your friends ever get annoyed when you take their photos like that, or feel as though they’re being watched? In fact, I take very few photos of my friends. This would actually be a problem, but I never broadcast a picture in which the person is completely at their disadvantage.

Oneira- Metaneira Dreams within a dream

Στο Στούντιο Χορού Μετάνειρα ανέβηκε η χορευτική παράσταση: "Ονειρεύτηκα τρεις που ονειρεύονταν τους άλλους δύο ο καθένας". Με αφορμή την παραπάνω φράση - δανεισμένη από ένα κείμενο του Δημήτρη Δημητριάδη, "Τα τέσσερα όνειρα", η ομάδα πειραματίστηκε πάνω στην ιδέα του χορευτικού τρίο, όχι ως συνθήκη που προκύπτει από τον κοινότοπο συνδυασμό 2+1 (ντουέτο-σόλο), αλλά ως προϋπόθεση για να πετύχουμε μια παραδοξότητα και ένα συμβολικό παιχνίδι, ανάλογο με εκείνο των ονείρων. The «I dreamt of three that were dreaming the other two each» performance, is hosted by the Metaneira Dance studio. Inspired by said phrase, taken from a Dimitris Dimitriadis’ text named «The four dreams», the dance trio came up with this idea of a performance that was not born from the usual 2+1 combination (duet+solo)- but acts as a symbolic game, in order to achieve a certain paradox effect we come across in dreams. - Ιωάννα: Όταν ήμουν μικρή περνούσα συχνά με τη μητέρα μου μπροστά από μία σχολή χορού. Άκουγα τη μουσική και έβλεπα μέσα από μία τρύπα τα άλλα παιδιά να χορεύουν. Ήθελα κ εγώ και έτσι ξεκίνησα. Ο χορός είναι ένα κομμάτι μου. Αν δεν ασχολούμουν με το χορό θα ήμουν διαφορετική. Πώς θα ήμουν δεν ξέρω-μπορεί και καλύτερη. -Τάσος Καρ.: Ορίζω τον εαυτό μου μέσα από το χορό. Με έχει διαμορφώσει και επηρεάσει σε μεγάλο βαθμό. Δεν ξέρω πως θα ήμουν αν δεν ασχολιόμουν επαγγελματικά με το χορό. - Τάσος Κου.: Χωρίς να το ξέρω ή να το επιδιώκω συνειδητά, κάπου ανάμεσα στα έπιπλα του καθιστικού και τον περιορισμένο χώρο του υπνοδωματίου μου. Στην αρχή πίστευα πως χορευτής είναι μια ιδιότητα, ένα χαρακτηριστικό που έπρεπε να αναπτύξω και να διαμορφώσω αλλά στη συνέχεια μάλλον με διαμόρφωσε, σε όλα τα επίπεδα. Το σώμα ψεύδεται ασυστόλως - πρέπει να μοχθήσει κανείς για να καταφέρει να εκφραστεί πέρα από τα θεσπισμένα πλαίσια και τους κώδικες, να μεταφέρει αυτούσια αυτό που τον αφορά προσωπικά. Αυτό δε σημαίνει πώς δε σέβεται τη "γλώσσα" του χορού, αλλά μάλλον ότι μπορεί πλέον να τη χρησιμοποιήσει για να αρθρώσει πιο σημαντικά πράγματα γύρω από την τέχνη του. Τι άλλο πρέπει να διαθέτει ένας χορευτής -πέρα από δεινές χορευτικές ικανότητες, προκειμένου να πετύχει; Χρειάζεται να καλλιεργηθεί η ικανότητα της προσωπικής κίνησης.Να διαφέρει, να έχει χαρακτήρα και να προτείνει πράγματα στη δουλειά. Να είναι ταπεινός και να δουλεύει σκληρά-το ανέφερα και προηγουμένως αλλά έχουν υπάρξει πολλά ταλέντα που χάθηκαν γιατί δε πείσμωσαν και δεν προσπάθησαν όσο κάποιοι άλλοι λιγότερο "προικισμένοι". Οι επίκτητες δεξιότητες που μπορεί να αναπτύξει ένας χορευτής, δεν είναι το μοναδικό ζητούμενο αλλά η ευφυΐα εκείνη (σωματική και πνευματική) που θα τον (καθ)οδηγήσει στα σωστά ερωτήματα γύρω από την τέχνη του. Η εκπαίδευση αντί να θέτει στους χορευτές τα σωστά ερώτημα προσφέρει έτοιμες απαντήσεις. Έτσι, τα παιδιά στην τάξη

αποκρίνονται "ξέρω να χορεύω" αντί να ρωτούν "γιατί χορεύω;". Υπάρχει κάποιο μουσικό θέμα ή έργο που να αποτελεί για εσάς απωθημένο; Αν ναι, ποιο είναι αυτό και πώς φαντασιώνεστε την ιδανική χορευτική του απόδοση. Απωθημένο δεν θεωρούμε πως έχουμε. Ιδανική χορευτική απόδοση είναι ίσως η εξίσωση του να περνάνε καλά και δημιουργικά οι χορευτές στις πρόβες και στη σκηνή, μα και ο θεατής καθώς παρακολουθεί το έργο να επικοινωνεί με αυτό, με το δικό του τρόπο. Πέρα από το φαντασιωτικό κομμάτι, είναι περισσότερο υλικός ο μόχθος του χορευτή. Υπάρχουν ωστόσο άπειρες πηγές έμπνευσης, λιγοστές ιδέες και δυστυχώς μόνο μία ζωή. Αν ο κόσμος τελειώνε αύριο, με τι φιγούρα θα τον αποχαιρετούσατε; - Ιωάννα: Με μία κίνηση εκτός βάρους μέχρι να μην υπάρχει βαρύτητα. - Τάσος Καρ.: Θα του έλεγα το δικό μου αντίο με φιγούρες από την προσωπική μου έρυνα που έχω φανταστεί ,αλλά δεν τις έχω δοκιμάσει γιατί φοβάμαι μην τραυματιστώ ανεπανόρθωτα! - Τάσος Κου.: Αν ο κόσμος τέλειωνε αύριο, θα συντονιζόταν έστω για μια φορά, σε μία και μόνο ύστατη δράση: το τέλος. Αυτό από μόνος του δεν μπορεί να το κάνει κανείς χορογράφος, άρα κάθε σχόλιο θα ήταν περιττό.

How did your relationship with dance come about and how much has it changed or shaped you? Ioanna:Whena I was younger, I would often pass by a dance school with my mother. I could hear the music coming from inside it and I could male out other children dancing in there. I wanted it, for myself so I started. Dancing is a part of me. If I wasn’t a dancer, I would be a very different person. I don’t know what kind of person, maybe a better one. - Tasos Kar: I define myself through dance. It’s shaped me and defined me to a significant degree. I don’t know where I’d be if I wasn’t a professional dancer. - Tasos Kou: It happened without me knowing or going after it particularly, somewhere in the space between the living room and the confined space of my bedroom.

I used to think that a dancer was a quality, a charac-

teristic I had to develop and define, but in the end, it was dance that shaped me, on all levels. The body lies all the time, you have to really push yourself to make it express itself beyond the established codes and principles, to truly convey its personality. This is not to say that it does not respect the “language” of dance, but rather that through it, it can use the medium to better express the important things surrounding the art itself.

What else does a dancer need to have, beyond a keen set of dancing skills, in order to make it?

He needs to develop his own personal sense of movement. You need to stand out, to have definite character and to able to propose ideas. You need to be humble and work hard, a point I mentioned earlier, but there have been so many talented dancers that have fallen off the radar, simply because they were not willing to try as much as other, less talented colleagues. The skills a dancer can develop are not the only important thing needed, but also the intelligence, both physical and mental, that will drive the dance to ask the right questions of his art. Education, instead of offering the right questions, simply offers ready answers. So most kids in class will say “I know how to dance”, rather than ask “why do I dance”.

Is there a musical piece or body of work that you would really like to get to grips with? If so, what is it and how would you ideally depict it? We don’t think there is. An ideal depiction of a project I guess, is the one where the dancers have an equally good time at rehearsals and on stage and where the viewers also manage to connect with it in their own way.

There are however infinite sources of inspiration, few ideas and unfortunately only one lifetime If the world ended tomorrow, what movement would you use to say goodbye to it? - Ioanna: With a weightless move. - Tasos Kar: I’d say goodbye with moves from my own imagination, but ones I have not yet tried since I’m worried I might permanently injure myself! - Tasos Kou: If the world ended tomorrow, it would for once be in sync in one final action: the end. No choreographer could come close to that so any further comment is pointless.

disPose 24 hour story Το DISPOSE αποτελεί μια online έκδοση που περιέχει φωτογραφίες, oι οποίες έχουν τραβηχτεί με φωτογραφικές μηχανές μιας χρήσης. Διανέμουμε τις μηχανές σε επιλεγμένα άτομα απ’όλο τον κόσμο και τους ζητάμε να αποτυπώσουν τη προσωπική τους διήγηση μέσα από μια 24ώρη καταχώρηση φωτογραφιών. Κάθε δεύτερη εβδομάδα εκδίδουμε τέσσερα «φωτό-δοκίμια», τα οποία έχουμε επιμεληθεί οι ίδιοι, στο DISPOSE.co. DISPOSE is an online publication of photographs shot with single use cameras. Πως σας γεννήθηκε η ιδέα για το Dispose; Από συνήθεια δημιουργούσαμε και συλλέγαμε φωτογραφίες, παρόλα αυτά, η δημιουργία ακόμη και ενός μικρού αριθμού υψηλής ποιότητας και πρωτότυπου περιεχομένου, απαιτεί εντατική εργασία, χρόνο και χρήμα. Θέλαμε να έχουμε μια παγκόσμια ματιά, οπότε δουλέψαμε πάνω σε μια εναλλακτική λύση: τη δημιουργία περιεχομένου όπου τα θέματα των ιστοριών, λειτουργούν ταυτόχρονα και ως συγγραφείς. Με ποιά κριτήρια γίνεται η επιλογή των φωτογράφων/ συνεργατών σας; Ψάχνουμε ενδιαφέροντα επαγγέλματα, μοναδικές τοποθεσίες και ειλικρινείς μα ταυτόχρονα ακαταμάχητες ιστορίες μέσα από μια προσωπική ματιά. Όλα τα παραπάνω σε συνδυασμό με «φωτογραφικό μάτι» δημιουργούν δυνατά spreads σε πολλαπλά επίπεδα. Περιγράψτε μια τυπική μέρα στα «αρχηγεία» του DISPOSE. Αρκετό multitasking. Αναζήτηση στο διαδίκτυο για email επαφών. Κοιτάζουμε τις νέες αιτήσεις. Ασκούμαστε στο ελλειπτικό μηχάνημα που έχουμε στη γωνία. Ποιό ήταν το πιο απροσδόκητο «ημερήσιο ντοκιμαντέρ» από αυτά που έχετε λάβει μέχρι στιγμής και γιατί; Πρόσφατα παραλάβαμε μια φωτογραφική μηχανή από έναν κομμωτή στο Παρίσι, ο οποίος κατάφερε να αποτυπώσει την ομορφιά τόσο της καθημερινότητάς του, όσο και του οικείου περιβάλλοντος του κομμωτηρίου. Πάντα είναι μια ευχάριστη έκπληξη όταν ερασιτέχνες φωτογράφοι έχουν την ικανότητα να κατασκευάσουν τόσο επιβλητικές οπτικές αφηγήσεις χρησιμοποιώντας μόνο τους δικούς τους χώρους και τα επαγγέλματά τους. Πως χρηματοδοτείται το DISPOSE; Ήταν δύσκολο να στηθεί ένα τέτοιο project; Ακόμη και σήμερα, αποτελεί ένα project που χρηματοδοτείται από μόνο του. Από τη στιγμή που είναι στο διαδίκτυο, το κόστος εκκίνησης ήταν ελάχιστο: οι φωτογραφικές μηχανές, τα ταχυδρομικά τέλη και η ανάπτυξη του φίλμ. Βέβαια, το δυσκολότερο κομμάτι ήταν να αναμείξουμε τον κόσμο, να τους παροτρύνουμε να ενδιαφερθούν για το project, να φωτογραφήσουν με την φωτογραφική και έπειτα να την στείλουν πίσω στο DISPoSE εντός ολίγων εβδομάδων. Επίσης το να πείσουμε τους ανθρώπους να βγούν έξω από τη Νέα υόρκη, και ιδανικά να αγγίξουν παγκόσμια εμβέλεια, δεν είναι κάτι εύκολο να αναγγείλεις, αλλά ήταν σημαντικό για εμάς, για να μην αναφερθώ και στην επιπλέον περιπλοκή της διεθνούς αποστολής. Επιπροσθέτως, η διάδοση ενός νέου project, αποδείχθηκε κάτι αρκετά δύσκολο εξ αρχής. Κατά τη γνώμη σας τί είναι αυτό που κάνει μια φωτογραφία ενδιαφέρουσα; Η ποιότητα έχει να κάνει με τον τρόπο που η ομορφία και η αισθητική –αποτελούν τυπικές ιδιότητες μιας φωτογραφίας (μαζί με το χρώμα, τον φωτισμό και τη διαμόρφωση)- χρησιμοποιούνται για να μεταφέρουν ένα συγκεκριμένο θέμα. Η αισθητική της εικόνας θα πρέπει να βρίσκεται σε συμφωνία με το περιεχόμενό της ώστε να έχουμε μια εικόνα υψηλής ποιότητας. Υπάρχουν άλλα projects ή άλλες δραστηριότητες στις οποίες έχει εμπλακεί το DISPOSE; Αυτή τη στιγμή εργαζόμαστε πάνω σε τεύχη σε συνεργασία

με το Cool Hunting (www.coolhunting.com) και τα Warner Brother Records. Ευελπιστούμε, στο εγγύς μέλλον να έρθουν ενδιαφέροντα events, την ώρα που εκδίδουμε τα τεύχη.

How did you come up with the idea? As people who habitually create and collect images, we were all interested in the idea of starting a magazine. However, the process of creating even a small amount of high quality original content is labor intensive, time consuming, and above all expensive. We wanted to have a global perspective, so instead we worked with an alternative paradigm for content creation, wherein the subjects of our stories also act as the authors.

What criteria do you use to seelect your contributors/photographers? We look for interesting professions, unique locations, and honest yet compelling stories from individual perspectives. These things, combined with an eye for photography, create strong spreads because they are engaging on multiple levels.

Describe a typical day at the DISPOSE headquarters. Lots of multitasking – searching online for contact emails, looking at new submissions, taking turns on the elliptical trainer in the corner.

Which of the daily documentaries you have received so far have you found the most unexpected and why? We recently received a camera from a hairdresser in Paris. His pictures were stunning in that he was able to find beauty in his daily routine and familiar surroundings of the salon. It is always a pleasant sur- prise when amateur photographers are able to construct such compelling visual narratives using only their ordinary surroundings / professions.

How is DISPOSE funded? Was it hard to start this project up? At this time, the project is still self-funded. Since the project is online, our startup costs were fairly minimal - cameras, postage, and film development. What was much more difficult was getting people involved – inspiring them to care about the assignment, shoot their camera, and send it back to us within a few weeks’ time. Also getting people outside of NYC, and ideally a global reach, is not an easy thing to tap into, but was really important to us, not to mention the added complication of international postage. Additionally, spreading the word about a new project proved to be difficult in the very beginning.

What makes a photo interesting in your opinion? Quality is about the way that beauty and aesthetics – comprised of the formal qualities of a photograph (like color, lighting, framing) – are used to convey a particular subject matter.

They must be in agreement, the aesthetic qualities of the image and the content, in order to have a high quality image.

Any other projects/activities DISPOSE is involved into? We are currently working on collaborative issues with Cool Hunting (www.coolhunting.com) and Warner Brothers Records. Hopefully there will be some interesting events coming up in the near future as we release the issues.

Ο Άλκης, σπουδάζει Οικονομικά στην ΑΣΟΕΕ και εργάζεται επαγγελματικά σαν μοντέλο. Με τι ασχολείσαι στον ελεύθερο χρόνο σου; Το καλοκαίρι κάνω σερφ, το χειμώνα κάνω σκι. Μικρότερος έπαιζα τένις αλλά όσο μεγαλώνω έχω μία αδυναμία στη σανίδα και την αίσθηση της ταχύτητας. Τι σε εκνευρίζει γύρω σου και τι θα άλλαζες αν μπορούσες; Με εκνευρίζει πάρα πολύ η γκρίνια και οι σνομπ άνθρωποι- οι μη χαμογελαστοί. Είναι λίγο δύσκολο να αλλάξω εγώ κάτι στην κατάσταση γύρω μου ή στους άλλους. Ιδανικά θα ήθελα να μην είναι όλοι τόσο φιλάργυροι και σε ό, τι αφορά τον εαυτό μου θα με όπλιζα με λίγη παραπάνω υπομονή.

Alkis is currently studying Finance/Economics at the School of Economic Science at the University of Athens and works as a professional model.

How do you like to spend your leisure time? During the summer I like to surf while in winter I ski a lot. When I was younger I played tennis but as I grow older, I prefer boards and speed. What would you change if you had the opportunity? Ill-tempered and snobbish people. People that never laugh. It is slightly difficult to change the situation around me or other people. Ideally, I would like people to not be so hungry for money.

As far as I am concerned, I think I could do with a little more patience.

Η Κάτια, σπουδάζει Πολιτικές Επιστήμες στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών και εργάζεται ως γραμματέας σε φροντιστήριο. Tι σου αρέσει να κάνεις στον ελεύθερο χρόνο σου; Μου αρέσει να αθλούμαι αρκετά, κάνω κολύμβηση και τένις και προσπαθώ να βρίσκομαι σε μέρη όπου έχω εύκολη πρόσβαση σε αρχαιολογικούς χώρους. Η Αθήνα είναι γεμάτη. Τι θα άλλαζες στην Αθήνα αν είχες τη δυνατότητα; Είναι πολύ πυκνοκατοικημένη. Με ενοχλεί το ότι έχουμε αρκετή πολιτιστική κληρονομιά αλλά είμαστε τελείως απολίτιστοι. Με τη νέα γενιά, 18-35, είναι κάπως καλύτερα τα πράγματα νομίζω. Στον εαυτό μου δεν θα άλλαζα κάτι, τουλάχιστον όχι σε αυτή την ηλικία. I enjoy swimming and tennis, as well as visiting archaeological locations with easy access. Athens is full of such places. If you could change something about Athens, what would that be?It is so densely populated. It bothers me that we have an immense cultural heritage, yet no actual culture. The 1835 generation is somewhat better in that respect. I would not want to change something about myself, at least not at this point in my life.
