UNDERSTANDING THE MESSAGE OF THE PROPHETS “AMOS – SILENCING THE MESSAGE”

“Also Amaziah said unto Amos … go flee thee away into the land of Judah … and prophesy there: But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the kings chapel …” (Amos 7:12-13). When men don’t like the message, they seek to silence the messenger. This is what the Humanist of the world are seeking to do to the voice of Christianity. We can never allow this to happen. Paul told the young preacher Timothy, “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine” (2nd Timothy 4:2). This means preach it when it’s popular and when its not. The people of Isaiah’s day did not want to hear the truth either. Isaiah said of them, “That this is a rebellious people … children that will not hear the law of the Lord: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:” (Isaiah 30:9-10). To this attitude God replied through the prophet, “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20). May we continue to preach and teach God’s truth concerning the moral issues of our day even though the world no longer wants to hear it. Some of the methods which are employed to silence God’s message is intimidation, academia, and slander. They think that if they can convince us that the majority is for abortion, same-sex marriage, homosexuality, then we will accept and go along with it. However, God has said, “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; …” (Exodus 23:2). They believe that whatever is advanced in the name of science will be accepted without question. Again, God has said, “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science (knowledge – LY) falsely so called:” (1st Timothy 6:20). There is no man made global warming (Genesis 8:22), or evolution (Genesis 1:24), and there never was a “Big Bang” (Genesis 1:1). All lies presented in the guise of “higher learning” and promoted by “career politicians” and their “allies in the press”, AKA, the “national news media”. When these methods fail our enemy turns to slander, calling us bigots, homophobes, intolerant. Jesus said, “… If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household” (Matthew 10:25). It amazes me how biased, Theo phobic, and intolerant the so called tolerant are, when someone doesn’t agree with them. When these milder methods of persecution fail, then our opponents turn to more extreme measures. They try to create special rights for the people who engage in moral depravity, and laws to punish and imprison those who oppose and speak against such behavior. However, all nations and/or people who accept and endorse moral depravity will be held accountable. The Bible says, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34, also read Romans 1:32). And, Peter and the apostles answered the rulers of their day, “… We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29). To this Jesus added, “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28) May we never allow the soul saving message of Christ to be silenced!!!
