I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone on what is our first weekend of the 2023 - 24 season. We are looking forward to welcoming new friends and renewing acquaintances with clubs who we have long-standing relationships with. Following the many successes last season including being named Rugby World Magazine Team of the Year, we will look forward to continuing as we left off!
This weekend our Men's First XV welcome Bromsgrove RFC to Horspath Road for the opening day of the Midlands Regional 1 League This is the first time that our two clubs have come up against each other and with both sides finishing fourth in their respective leagues last season, it will no doubt prove to be a competitive game. Our Second XV travel Bracknell RFC where they will be taking on their Second XV. Following the 2s promotion last season, this is their debut season in Counties 1 Tribute Southern North and I know that they are very much looking forward to playing against many First XV sides
The Men's Third XV are also at home this Saturday as they make their debut in the Counties 2 Tribute Berks/Bucks & Oxon League. Following their promotion last season, the side will face many of the teams which our Second XV were up against last season. Their opening game will no doubt also be a tough one as they take on the HUEL Tring RFC Second XV.
The club Executive Team has been fortunate to welcome new members to the Board and we are thrilled to have Jenny Ogilvy, Michael Pawley and Daisy Hopkins joining the team
As an Exec group, we have reviewed our strategy for the next 3-years including refining our vision, firming up our aspirations to be the leading community rugby club in the country by maintaining our fully amateur status with a professional approach.
As you arrive at the club this weekend, you will no doubt see something new! With the support of the Visitor Economy Renaissance Programme grant funding, we have purchased our first covered and seated stand! Installing this would not have been possible without the generous and kind support of one of our club sponsors - Penny & Sinclair. The official opening of the stand will take place on Saturday 4 November but don't worry it's open and ready for you to be able to take your seats today!
I must extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to all our Club Sponsors You are all so important to what we do, without your continued and generous support, the club would not be able to offer anywhere near as much as it can to both our members but also the local community.
Lastly, I want to extend my personal thanks to everyone who helps us keep the club going! Whether coaching, admin to an age group, help with hot dogs, keep the car park moving on a match day or help tidy up after a game You make all of this possible!

We are excited for another big season ahead in the community department at Oxford Quins, after a successful schools and HAF programme last year, we are looking to reach even more schools, and organise even more multi activity and rugby specific camps for members and the local community.
On top of this we are having a big push for girls rugby and already we have had successful training camps during the Summer where a number of girls who had never played the game came along to Horspath and enjoyed our fantastic club and our great coaches . The Lord Mayor of Oxford also visited and even got involved with a number of the drills and activities.
Also during the summer holiday break, we ran our another HAF camp, which is supported by the Oxfordshire county council. This camp ran for 2 weeks, and we had around 50 children per day attending. Our team of coaches provided the children with multi-sport activities, party games, creative learning, orienteering in Shotover Woods, as well as supplying healthy breakfast, lunch, and snack options daily.
The HAF camps we provide are essential for our community as they provide parents with the support that is needed during the holiday period, providing children with an opportunity to get involved in new activities and a new environment, grow their confidence and also meet new people.
It has been great to see some of these children have now become members at Oxford Quins and are gearing up for their first season of rugby. The Community Programme is a huge part of our club as we pride ourselves on being able to grow the game of rugby across the county and create an environment where people can enjoy the game, make new friends and become part of the Quins family.
Rugby is a game for all and Oxford Quins wants to open our doors to everyone who wants to come along and get involved.
