The Oxford Quins Community Programme is delighted to announce the upcoming HAF Christmas Camp, which will take place on the following dates: 21st-22nd December - 8:30am-5:30pm 27th -28th December - 8:30am-5:30pm

This four-day camp will provide kids with a diverse range of activities, Christmas-themed games, and a special visit from Santa, ensuring an enjoyable and festive experience throughout the Christmas holidays.

In addition, our three-day Rugby Camp will take place on: 2nd - 4th January 9.30am - 3.30pm The event will focus on skill development, game scenarios, and team structures, offering young athletes aged 8-15 the opportunity to enhance their rugby abilities while enjoying the holiday season.

The Oxford Quins Community Programme is eagerly looking forward to hosting these exciting Christmas holiday events and extending a warm welcome to all participants

Women’s and Girls rugby at Oxford Quins is on the up!

We concluded last season with four girls spanning across the entire Minis & Junior Section, we have now accumulated thirty seven girls ranging from U5’s all the way up to U14’s. The girls are continuously improving in skills and with momentum, demonstrating an unbreakable will and determination. Since September our fantastic, fun loving U8 girls have competed at two festivals as a stand-alone girls team playing against all boys teams from across the county. The girls (most of which only started their rugby journey in the summer) have worked tremendously hard to bring their standard of rugby to meet and in some cases exceed their fellow players.

However, we are only half way through our recruitment drive and there is still much work to be done within this critical stage. Firstly, we need to find additional players for our U12 & U14 teams. We plan on working with local secondary schools who have after school rugby clubs Your paragraph text for girls to come and use our facilities at Horspath and to help encourage them on their rugby journey. Secondly, we are going to be working with our local primary schools to encourage girls of all ages to try rugby at both school and at the club on Sundays. Yet help is needed from everyone (coaches and parents) to spread the word about girls rugby. This initial recruitment drive has been a massive club effort, and due to the ongoing unbelievable results, this support needs to continue through the season and into the summer in order to maintain these great achievements.

We are really looking forward to a stand-alone girls section at the club's forthcoming M&J Festival on the 3rd March. In addition, we are busy planning a tour for our U12/14 girls at the end of the season. Finally, we are working on some exciting plans for our summer training program which will include touch rugby and a 7’s tournament for our older girls and an all-girls mini festival for our younger girls.

The women’s section is also thriving. We have been able to field two women’s teams, and whilst the 2nd XV is still a work in progress, it was great to see lots of new players take to the pitch for the first time in a 2nd XV fixture recently.

The women’s 1st XV last two fixtures have seen them unbeaten, a thrilling match against local rivals Chinnor Kites resulted in a 45-7 win, the match was a demonstration of the high level of skill being played across Oxfordshire women’s rugby. Last week the squad travelled to Coventry Welsh, where we came home with a huge 71-10 win. The team are hoping to take these strong performances into the Papa John’s Plate this weekend where face Chobham RFC at home and in preparation for facing top of the league Bridgnorth RFC on the 3rd December.

Our coaching team - Fin, Charlotte and Fin (S&C) bring such a wealth of knowledge and experience which allows the players to grow in all areas of the game, both on and off the pitch, and crucially are leading the way on the positive culture we have in place. We are not yet half way through the season, watch this space - it’s going to be very exciting!
