Lot 1

Tour of McLaren Technology Centre, and a Three-Day McLaren Abu Dhabi Experience

Thanks to the generosity of McLaren Racing Ltd, you and three guests will be treated to a once in a lifetime tour of one of motorsport’s most prestigious facilities in Woking, where you will experience the different departments that comprise the Formula 1. Following the tour, your party will enjoy lunch in one of McLaren’s VIP dining rooms. You and a guest will then be ready for the thrill of F1 racing at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Your McLaren Abu Dhabi Experience includes a three-day pass to the McLaren Grandstand, which also gives you access to the public pitlane walk on Thursday, McLaren goodies, and daily after-race concerts.

Factory tour: up to four guests to be taken by June 2020. Tour routes may be subject to restrictions.

Private Talk, and Tour of Buckingham Palace

Experience a once-in-a-lifetime private talk with historian Dr Amanda Foreman, curator of this year’s Summer Opening, preceding a tour of Buckingham Palace. This special exhibition celebrates the 200th anniversary of Queen Victoria, combining treasures from the Royal Collection with the latest CGI technology to show how she transformed the Palace into the magnificent building it is today. Dr Foreman will give a one-hour talk to you and three guests during tea in a private room at the Cavalry & Guards Club, which also has an exceptional collection of 19th and 20th century paintings of members of the Royal Family, including Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. A prize-winning author, Dr Foreman will also give a signed copy of her book which accompanies the exhibition. Following the talk, you and your guests will head over to Buckingham Palace for a tour, offering a very special insight into one of the most famous buildings in the world.

Have Your Whisky and Drink It Too

The British Honey Company has generously donated one of only 25 barrels aged in 2019. With a love for gin and honey, British Honey Company launched their delicious Keepr’s London Dry Gin infused with their Cotswold Honey in small batches. Since expanding, they have decided to distill their spirits using their bespoke Electric Still as opposed to the mainstream gas and oil options, to reduce their carbon footprint. As Kilkenny is the birthplace of Irish whisky, there is no better location for this process than the Ballykeefe Distillery. This year, their award-winning Master Distiller Jamie Baggott, has created a deliciously smooth New Make Spirit to be matured in ‘first fill’ Bourbon casks to produce a Single Estate Tusmore Whisky.

This auctioned barrel will produce approximately 400 bottles of whisky, depending on the rate of evaporation during maturation. While there is no guarantee, British Honey expects the whisky to appreciate in value at the following rate: 3 years minimum - £50 per bottle [barrel £20,000] Ex Duty 8 years minimum - £100 per bottle [barrel £40,000] Ex Duty This barrel is subject to British Honey Company’s standard Whisky production and storage terms & conditions agreement being signed, and a fee of £50 per annum for storage.

Musical Soirée and Dinner for 12 Prepared

A once in a lifetime experience to host a musical soirée for up to 12 guests in the privacy of your own home, with dinner cooked by Raymond Blanc – the world-renowned chef of Oxford’s famous restaurant, Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. To top off the evening, your guests will also be entertained by a private recital with Marios Papadopoulos on the piano, and the Principals of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, who were recently described as ‘a line-up to match any top-notch international ensemble and probably beat them off their own turf’ by Jessica Duchen (former classical music correspondent for The Independent).

The following Conditions of Sale (except to the extent amended, if at all, by any posted notices or oral announcements during the auction) govern the sale of all lots offered: The property offered in the sale at the auction and listed in the auction catalogue will be sold by The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra Trust ( “Trust”), registered charity no. 1084256. The following Conditions of Sale (except to the extent amended, if at all, by any posted notices or oral announcements during the auction) govern the sale of all lots offered:

(a) The Trust assumes no risk, liability or responsibility for the authenticity or the authorship of any of the lots (including, without limitation, the identity of the creator or the period, culture, source or origin, as the case may be, of any of the lots).

(b) All lots are sold with all faults and imperfections and errors of description and the Trust makes no representations or warranties of any kind or nature, express or implied, with respect to the lots and in no event shall be responsible for the correctness of any descriptions of the lots, nor be deemed to have made any representations or warranties of physical condition, size, quality, rarity, importance, genuineness, attribution, authenticity or provenance of the lots. No statement in the auction catalogue or other description made at the sale, in any sale invoice or elsewhere, shall be deemed to be such a representation or warranty.

(c) Prospective bidders should check any lot before bidding to determine its condition and size and whether or not it has been repaired or restored.

(d) In the case of any lot that consists of or includes a promise, the Trust reserves the right, after the lot has been purchased, to vary the promise, provided that such variation does not substantially alter the promise as purchased. The Trust shall not be liable for the fulfilment of the promise in the event that, for any reason beyond the Trust’s reasonable control, the promise cannot be fulfilled. The Trust will, however, use reasonable endeavours to provide the purchaser with the opportunity to participate in an alternative experience, provided that the Trust shall not be obliged to incur any expense.

(e) The lots may be offered subject to reserves.

Any lot may be withdrawn by the Trust at any time before the actual sale.

Unless otherwise announced by the auctioneer at the time of sale, all bids are per lot as numbered in the catalogue.

The Trust reserves the right to reject a bid from any bidder. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser. In the event of any dispute between bidders, the auctioneer shall have sole and final discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the lot in dispute. If any dispute arises after the sale, the sale records of the Trust shall be conclusive in all respects.

If the auctioneer determines that any opening bid is not commensurate with the value of the lot, he may reject the same and withdraw the lot from sale, and if, having acknowledged an opening bid, he decides that any advance thereafter is insufficient, he may reject the advance.

On the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer, the highest bidder shall be deemed to have purchased the offered lot subject to these Conditions of Sale and (a) assumes the risk and responsibility for the lot, (b) will sign a confirmation of purchase of the lot and (c) will pay the full purchase price or such part as the Trust may require.

Payments for purchases must be made in sterling and in the following forms; cash, cheque and all major credit cards. The Trust will not release a lot to a successful purchaser, and in the case of a promise will not fulfil the promise, until payment of the total amount due has been made. Title to any lot purchased shall not pass to the highest bidder until that bidder has made payment in full to the Trust of the total amount due.

After payment, the purchaser shall remove any property constituted by the lot from the auction premises. If the property is not so removed, it may be sent by the Trust at its discretion to storage for the account, risk and expense of the purchaser and such charges will then be added to the purchase price of the property.

If the foregoing conditions and any other applicable conditions are not complied with, in addition to other remedies available to the Trust by law (including, without limitation, the right to hold the purchaser liable for the bid price), the Trust may, at its option, either (a) cancel the sale, retaining as liquidated damages all payments made by the purchaser or (b) resell the lot on three days’ notice to the purchaser and for the account and risk of the purchaser, either publicly or privately, and in such event the purchaser shall be liable for payment of any shortfall between the original sale price and the price achieved upon resale, all other charges due under these Conditions of Sale and any incidental damages.

In the case of any commission bids or bids transmitted by telephone or any other means (to the extent permitted in the auctioneer’s sole discretion), the Trust is not responsible for errors or omissions arising out of or resulting from mechanical difficulties or failure.

In no circumstances will the Trust rescind any purchase made or refund the amount paid in respect of any lot.

Neither shipping or delivery costs nor any costs incidental to the participation in any promise are included in the price at which a lot is purchased.

The Trust shall not be liable to a purchaser, bidder or any third party for any indirect or consequential loss or damage, or for any loss caused (whether arising out of any negligence or breach of these Conditions of Sale or otherwise) resulting from the auction or any of the lots. Without limiting the foregoing, the Trust’s liability relating to the sale of any lot (whether arising in negligence or otherwise) shall not under any circumstances exceed an amount equal to the sum paid to the Trust in relation to that lot.

These Conditions of Sale shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of England and Wales. By bidding at an auction (whether present in person or, to the extent permitted in the auctioneer’s sole discretion, by agent, commission bid, telephone or other means), the purchaser shall be deemed to have consented to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
