FMS Annual 2022 - Message from the Chairperson

Message from the Chairperson

Mrs Joni Ong - Chairperson Fairfield Methodist Schools’ Board of Management

We ushered in 2022 with a stronger mindset; even as we turned the corner around COVID-19, we had the better of innumerable possibilities. To begin with, we welcomed Mr Wee Tat Chuen, our new Principal of FMS(S).

In the spirit of ‘strong’, I recently completed a climbing adventure at Mont Blanc. I had the privilege of refreshing my ideas with respect to age-old concepts. And I would like to share what I have discerned.

In life we climb many mountains. Let us learn from those who have gone before us. Let us be humble and glean insights from their achievements. We could do better in our own attempt to scale the heights. As one Fairfield, we know that learning is life-long. Let us then be learning, unlearning and re-learning!

When we reach our goal – like I did when I reached the top of the mountain during my hike – we earn the breathtaking view of God’s creation. Surely, in our personal achievements, we can say ‘To God Be The Glory’, and we attest that all we have achieved is by His grace. Similarly, as we reflect on 2022 and the various programmes that Fairfield has offered, we can only bask in His mercy and give thanks to God for all the achievements of the schools.

Through my hike, I learnt we could give back to others. As I came down that mountain, I was able to encourage those who were like me a while ago, climbing up and needing encouragement. As we go through life’s journey, let us be attentive to whom God is asking us to encourage. We can encourage someone through our interaction with him/her, through our affirmation of that person and through our giving to him/her. Let us encourage someone today, just as we have been encouraged by others. Let us fly Fairfield’s flag high as we continue to be a blessing to our community.

I commend the efforts of all school leaders, staff and students. I pray that we are forever inspired to look to God as we grow Stronger as One Fairfield and as we celebrate our 135th Founder’s Day next year.

To God Be The Glory!
