AWARD/ACOMPLISHMENTS FIVE YEARS OF VOLLEYBALL WORKING AS A TEAM TO ENSURE SUCCESS. VOLUNTEER WORK FOR THE RESCUE MISSION AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO HELP MY COMMUNITY AND THOSE WHO ARE APART OF IT. Essays

Personal Essay As my first year being on staff I've gotten to learn how to use different Adobe CS6 programs like InDesign, Photoshop, and a little bit of Illustrator. Knowing and understanding how to use InDesign is very important, as it is where we design and produce the pages of the yearbook. Personally, an asset I possess that contributes to the staff is being able to make deadlines. Skills that I will take with me in life would be getting things done on time, and communication skills. I was an asset to the staff and production of the yearbook by helping to run interviews, making deadlines, and doing my spreads. I have gained a lot of skills as being on staff, and some of these skills I wouldn't have learned if I hadn't been on yearbook staff. These skills will help me throughout life and my future careers.

Reflection Essay This year my most successful spread is the "Weekend Spread" that I did with Ashley Da'Costa. What I like about this spread the most is how we were able to find pictures and get all the interviews for the caption and copy. It was difficult to get the pictures outside, since everything for the spread was outside of school, it was hard to find people who would be able to get and send us pictures. We solved this by talking to people we knew, and friends of friends to find the best images or people for the spread. Once we found all the people everything had gone smoothly. The other main spread that I had done was the "Homecoming Dance" spread, and I wish that we had better photos for it. The hardest part of finishing the spread was getting good enough pictures.

Staff Essay We definitely had problems and challenges through the year on staff, and most of them were due to lack of communication. Sometimes when we would all get caught up in our own work, we didn't communicate much and would be constantly redoing design elements or different pictures on the spread. We got better at our communication skills for our sections and between the editors. Something I can apply to further work in life is to communicate and have good time management when working with others. Something that is also really important when your on staff is to ask questions when you need help. Its good to ask questions even if you don't want to because it will help you finish your deadline.

Memories Essay My best memory of this year would probably be the first work night. It was very confusing and new to me since it was my first year on staff. I didn't know when we were supposed to leave or what all went on. I also remember when we took the yearbook group photo and had to work together to achieve the end result of the picture we wanted. We had tried different scenarios, and finally found one that would work. Being on staff this year has allowed me to make so many memories and become friends with people that before I wouldn't have known or ever met.
