The Classic supports young adults to develop a strong sense of self and to build focus and perspective as they map out their future direction.
Perfect for those looking to shake life up, the Masters course gives you the momentum to make a real change to your everyday or achieve a lifelong goal.
Discovery courses are a compact version of the 21-day course. Perfect for the time poor, they offer a unique opportunity to step away from work, technology and family commitments, and focus on reflection, resetting and evaluating what you want from life.
Discovery Low Impact is a more physically moderate version of our standard Discovery course. It is suitable for people who have a mild physical condition, are motivated to be active, and want opportunities to be challenged.
A hands-on learning environment designed to explore real changes, in real time, in real situations for application to real business challenges. Focus on building resilience, adaptability, confidence and self-awareness. This course is tailored for current and aspiring leaders or influencers.
This course focuses on developing self-awareness and adaptability in female managers or influencers to inspire and encourage others within their workplace. Identify your core strengths and how to apply these in a leadership role, all within a safe and supportive learning environment.
We offer a range of courses for students with physical and intellectual disabilities. Our adapted courses have been designed with the flexibility to provide challenge and adventure for everyone.
Classic and Masters courses have a training and expedition phase. With plenty of time to train in the necessary skills for each activity, we aim to empower your group towards ownership and independence. Twenty-one days gives us flexibility to adapt to the conditions to experience the iconic Outward Bound activities*.
Experience a snapshot of most of the iconic Outward Bound activities depending on the weather. Instructors will deliver just the right amount of information to keep you safe and support you to experience getting up high, spending time in the bush, spending time alone and exploring the Marlborough Sounds by sea.

Participants will experience activities like sailing, rock climbing, kayaking and high ropes. Discovery Low Impact excludes carrying a heavy tramping pack. Sleeping on the ground and running will be adapted to individual student’s abilities.
Te Waiau Toa/Clarence River is the first of OB’s Journey programmes, blending elements of a traditional Outward Bound course with the realities of a true wilderness expedition.
We’ll co-design a course with you to meet your organisation’s needs, tailoring it to your own organisational context and your team. With our team of world-class instructors and facilitators, we can also deliver a custom design course in your region.
Designed and led by 2 experienced instructors and a professional facilitator, our professional courses employ a unique mix of precourse psychometrics, outdoor challenge, facilitated on-course feedback and post course follow up to develop great leaders.
We have a range of specialised equipment which allows you to experience many of the same activities as a Classic course. Expect to be at sea on our cutters, experience Anakiwa from height and spend time on your own in the bush. We increase our staff to student ratios and some courses are joined by support workers.
Te Waiau Toa is guided by Clarence River Rafting guides and facilitated by two OB instructors.
