Professional Growth Day

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH DAYOn 20th May 2022 the administrative staff at Sir Michelangelo Refalo Sixth Form prepared a full day programme for professional development for teachers. The three speakers were Mr Mario Borg (CEO of Gozo Regional Development Authority) who presented the strategy for Gozo 2021-2030, Ms Simone Azzopardi (History Lecturer and CEO of NGO Għawdix) who highlighted the work and purpose of the same NGO and Dr Dennis Zammit (MEYR Laywer) who discussed the rights for the protection of teachers. This was a pd with a difference – it provided teachers with the opportunity to understand what is the remit of the GRDA, the invaluable work done by NGO Għawdix and what are the rights of teaching professionals. The day ended with a social networking activity.

On 28th September 2021, the Head of the Institute, Mr Daniel James Cassar, together with the SMT and Administrative Staff, organised a farewell gathering for Father Vince Pavia thanking him for the work and service given during his years at the Institute. Father Vince Pavia started at Sir Michelangelo Refalo Sixth

Form in the year 1995 as a Spiritual Director and then also taught Sociology,

Philosophy and Religion at the same Institute. Father Pavia was also given a small gift as a token of appreciation. The Head and SMT together with all the staff wish Father Pavia the best of luck for his retirement and new ventures in the future.

On 25th November 2021, the staff at Sir Michelangelo Refalo Sixth Form bid farewell to colleague Ms Florence Garcia and augured her all the very best in her new career, that of EO (Maltese as a Foreign Language).
