The Anti-Confined is aimed to transform Kew lunatic asylum into a public activity community to subvert original institutional typology and reappropriate the language of this site. As my research described, there’s few public fitness activities in Kew which means they don’t have enough fitness equipment and spaces to release people’s pressure or energy. This activity theme is destroyed and readapt the old impression of lunatic asylum site, it let people back to land, back to nature.
The existing building had been readapted to provide more interaction between interior and exterior. At the same time, the application of bright vivid colors highlights the positive, energetic physical and mental health. Due to the transform this site into accessible place, I’ve added bus stop and tram stop to arrive. Not only touch the asylum, but also create a change to contact with Yarra river, a natural scenery.

The basic circulation is inspirated from the landscape contour and the compass. which bring out the respect of this land and emphasis the direction. And this design strategy of sports centers also come out from this logic.








In order to reduce the pressure of populous cities and the trend of deteriorating living environment, we have built forest cities far away from urban areas. The site is located in a natural setting next to the Blue Mountains. The construction of villa in this context allows people to escape from the chaotic city and bring more understanding of nature and simplicity to life.

According to the shape of landscape, the Villa tend to following the fluctuate of surroundings and let constructions maximum fit and sit on the site.
Voxels limit the rules of component, so the exact position selection are focusing on a scope of chunks we created.

























To build an individual components as private houses and aggregate them in different connection logics, multiple forms build up 1 unit, 2 units, 3 units and 4 units combination.
The wide angle views are created between neighbours and nature context. Aboundant of daylights and greenings reflect into these houses.































I referenced these panels from Louis Sullivan's ornaments used in his architecture and some derive designs from his artwork. The panel on the left is the final layout that I choosed for wormwhole library. The overall shape of this architecture is fluently and curvely, so I plan to select a panel that highlight alternative visual effect between panel and library. This hexagram shape is referenced from a background in one of his design. It is create a strong contrast between the soft morph of Wormhole and the sharp feeling of this panel. For the color and material, I decided to use gold is based on its site. This architecture is sits on coastline and there is a direction face to beach. Thus this material would interact with sand and sunlight, also increase visiter's comfortable, relax and happy mood at the same time.
